Download or read book Microtubule Protocols written by Jun Zhou and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-08-23 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microtubules are essential components of the cytoskeleton, and play critical roles in a variety of cell processes, including cell shaping, intracellular tracking, cell division, and cell migration. Microtubule Protocols presents a comprehensive collection of essential and up-to-date methods for studying both the biology of microtubules and the mechanisms of action of microtubule-interacting drugs. The straightforward presentation of readily reproducible protocols is a hallmark of the Methods in Molecular MedicineTM series, and is evident in this volume. Methods presented range from the purification and characterization of microtubule proteins, analysis of post-translational modifications of tubulin, and determination of microtubule structure, to the visualization of microtubule and spindle behavior, measurement of microtubule dynamics, and examination of microtubule-mediated cellular processes. Both basic scientists and clinical researchers will benefit from this collection of state-of-the-art protocols for microtubule research.

Download or read book Practical Methods in Molecular Biology written by Robert F. Schleif and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume has evolved from a laboratory methods book that one of us first compiled nearly fifteen years ago. Since that time the book has undergone many minor revisions in order to include new methods and updated versions of older methods. The result has been an increasingly useful and more widely circulated book. However, the recent series of technological explosions generally lumped together under the name of "recombinant DNA technology" has been a turning point in the evolution of this previously underground publication. Minor revisions will no longer do. To keep the book useful we have had to make major revi sions and additions. The result is a dramatically expanded book that should be more useful to more people. The larger size and wider usefulness of the book have made this more formal publication seem a reasonable step to take. One of the reasons that this volume should be useful to many people is that it includes only procedures that have been used repeatedly by us and that have proven highly reliable both to ourselves and to others in our laboratories.

Download or read book Recombinant DNA Part B written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1983-06-28 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FROM THE PREFACE: Exciting new developments in recombinant DNA research allow the isolation and amplification of specific genes or DNA segments from almost any living organism. These new developments have revolutionized our approaches to solving complex biological problems and have opened up new possibilities for producing new and better products in the areas of health, agriculture, and industry. Volumes 100 and 101 supplement Volumes 65 and 68 of Methods in Enzymology. During the last three years, many new or improved methods on recombinant DNA or nucleic acids have appeared, and they are included in these two volumes. Volume 100 covers the use of enzymes in recombinant DNA research, enzymes affecting the gross morphology of DNA, proteins with specialized functions acting at specific loci, new methods for DNA isolation, hybridization, and cloning, analytical methods for gene products, and mutagenesis: in vitro and in vivo. Volume 101 includes sections on new vectors for cloning genes, cloning of genes into yeast cells, and systems for monitoring cloned gene expression.
