The manuscript is at least 1,450 years old, possibly dating to the first century. And now, The Lost Gospel provides the first ever translation from Syriac into English of this unique document that tells the inside story of Jesus’ social, family, and political life. The Lost Gospel takes the reader on an unparalleled historical adventure through a paradigm shifting manuscript. What the authors eventually discover is as astounding as it is surprising: the confirmation of Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdalene; the names of their two children; the towering presence of Mary Magdalene; a previously unknown plot on Jesus’ life (thirteen years prior to the crucifixion); an assassination attempt against Mary Magdalene and their children; Jesus’ connection to political figures at the highest level of the Roman Empire; and a religious movement that antedates that of Paul—the Church of Mary Magdalene.Part historical detective story, part modern adventure, The Lost Gospel reveals secrets that have been hiding in plain sight for millennia.

Book From One Child to Two Children

Download or read book From One Child to Two Children written by Shibei Ni and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-12-30 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book dissects the reproductive intentions and behaviours of the one-child generation cohort in China, situated in the wider context of changing family life patterns and gendered lenses. Demonstrating that the one-child family is still favoured by the one-child generation, this book uncovers the socioeconomic dimensions and mechanisms of family relations underlying young people’s decision-making processes. It also incorporates individual considerations and experiences of childbearing from over 50 interviews to contribute to the development of China's social policy. Whereas men’s childbearing beliefs were relatively unexplored in the literature, the author included male interviewees to better reflect gender differences in relation to childbearing, employment and family. Analysing the relationship between life routine and the desire (or lack thereof) to increase China's population, the author argues that the current childbearing policy fails to accommodate the needs and demands of young people, thus limiting the uptake of China’s new policy.

Book The Price of Fear The Film Career of Vincent Price In His Own Words

This book was released on 2013-02-02 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prior to his death in 1993, Vincent Price was collaborating with Mr. Joel Eisner (author of the over 100,000 copy bestselling Official Batman Batbook concerning the ‘60’s Adam West Batman television series) to construct a definitive, official biography of his life and career in films. This is that book. Sanctioned by the Vincent Price Estate and daughter Victoria, THE PRICE OF FEAR is not only told through journalist Eisner’s personal interviews with Price himself but with the cooperation, direct interviews and quotes from many of those with whom Price worked with throughout his illustrious career. Before he passed away, all Vincent saw of this book was his fellow actor Peter Cushing’s heartfelt foreward. Introducing the true story of a man born within a moderately wealthy family of candy manufacturers in 1911 St. Louis, Missouri, whose interest in theatre during the Great Depression led him into eventually becoming, arguably, the most universally iconic personification of the horror genre in the entire encompassment of the 20st Century. That man was Vincent Leonard Price, Jr. What you now hold in your hands is the only authorized, official biography about Vincent Price’s entire life in films ever published in history with his direct participation and approval, in his own words. Never before has the story of Vincent’s life been told, how he rose from dramatic theatre and stage to joining the ranks of the early cultured Hollywood elite fresh from where motion pictures were first spawned to eventually spend his life behind horrifying makeup and horror genre movie roles at the sacrifice of a greater passion for fine art and comedy. For nearly a century, we’ve known the name. We’ve heard the voice. We’ve seen the many faces. At last, with The Price of Fear: The Film Career of Vincent Price, in His Own Words, we can know the man, directly from the legend himself, in this never-before-published highly entertaining and inspirational masterpiece.

Book Two Children Behind A Wall

Download or read book Two Children Behind A Wall written by Catherine Laylle and published by Random House. This book was released on 2011-12-31 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1984, Catherine Laylle, a Frenchwomen living in London, met and married a German medical student, Dieter. The couple had two sons, Alexander and Constantin. When, however, at Dieter's insistence, they moved back to his home town in Germany, the marriage began to fall apart. Dieter refused to get a job, Catherine found living with his family oppressive and eventually, she returned to London with the children. The boys spent term time with their mother, holidays with their father - until the summer of 1994, when Dieter decided that his sons should be raised as Germans and, with the support of the local judge, defied the London court ruling that gave Catherine custody. Catherine went to the courts in London, Germany and the Hague - but it seemed that no court outside the jurisdiction of Lower Saxony would overrule the decision. Today, Alexander is eleven and Constantin is nine. Catherine has barely seen them in the two years since Dieter kidnapped them - and then only under the supervision of one of his friends. This is the harrowing story of a mother's attempts to regain her children, and of her desperate struggle against a tyrannical family and the blind injustice of the courts in Europe.

Download or read book Valuable and Vulnerable written by Julie Faith Parker and published by Society of Biblical Lit. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Just as women in the Bible have been overlooked for much of interpretative history, children in the Bible have fascinating and compelling stories that scholars have largely ignored. This groundbreaking book focuses on children in the Hebrew Bible. The author argues that the biblical writers recognized children as different from adults and used these ideas to shape their stories. She provides conceptual and historical frameworks for understanding children and childhood, and examines Hebrew terms related to children and youth. The book introduces a new methodology of childist interpretation and applies it to the Elisha cycle (2 Kings 2-8), which contains forty-nine child characters. Combining literary insights with social-scientific evidence, the author demonstrates that children play critical roles in the world of the text as well as the culture that produced it.
