Book Spin In Gravity Is It Possible To Give An Experimental Basis To Torsion

Download or read book Spin In Gravity Is It Possible To Give An Experimental Basis To Torsion written by Venzo De Sabbata and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1998-07-08 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The introduction of spin is believed to be a necessary tool if one wishes to quantize general relativity. Then the main problem is to see if the introduction of spin generalizing the general relativity from a geometric point of view, i.e. through the concept of torsion, can be experimentally verified. The reader can find in this book both theoretical and experimental arguments which show the necessity for the introduction of spin, and then of torsion, in gravity. In fact, torsion constitutes the more natural and simple way to introduce spin in general relativity. For that reason it is of fundamental importance to see if there are some experiences that indicate — if not directly, then at least indirectly — the presence of torsion. This book presents a discussion on experiments with a polarized-mass torsion pendulum, the search for galactic dark matter interacting with a spin pendulum, a description of a space-based method for determination of the gravitational constant and space-based measurements of spin in gravity, as well as a discussion on theoretical arguments, for instance the nature of torsion and nonmetricity, the viability of gravitational theories with spin-torsion and spin-spin interaction, many-dimensional gravitational theories with torsion, spinors on curved spaces, the spinors in real space-time, etc.We know that until now there has been no evidence for torsion, but this fact cannot prevent us from considering in some detail this implement of research that seems to be important from both a geometrical and a physical point of view.

Book Holistic Religious Education is it possible

Download or read book Holistic Religious Education is it possible written by Sturla Sagberg and published by Waxmann Verlag. This book was released on 2015 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the possibility of a holistic approach to religious education, taking into account religious and cultural diversity, different aspects of secularisation and different academic disciplines that inform the subject. Issues discussed are the view of children as spiritual and religious subjects, identity formation, the concept of child theology, the relationship between faith and morality, the meaning of spirituality, the notion of wonder as an inroad to learning, religion as culture, and the meaning of holism. A point of departure is taken in a typology of attitudes to religion in public education, and the line of reason ends in a search for viable metaphors for holistic religious education. Sturla Sagberg (born 1951) is professor of religious education and ethics at Queen Maud University College of Early Childhood Education in Trondhem, Norway. He has a doctoral degree in theology, and has for many decades taught and done research related to teacher training as well as to church education. He has published several books in Norwegian, of which the latest translates into Religion, Values and Formation: Children and the big questions in life. Many of his articles in books and journals are written in English.

Book Is It Possible to Inspire Anyone

Download or read book Is It Possible to Inspire Anyone written by Antonio Evaristo Morales-Pita, PhD and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2021-06-30 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Readable, compelling and totally persuasive, the ideas in this book have the potential to transform the ways readers approach, establish and achieve goals in a sustainable way. The book Is It Possible to Inspire Anyone? is a must read especially for young, middle-age and senior adults. Morales-Pita deciphers the conditions to inspire and to be inspired – generally speaking and especially in the classroom and at home. At the end of every chapter, there is a small “food for thought” paragraph inviting the readers – on the basis of the chapter they had just finished reading – to meditate and to prepare themselves for the following chapter. The importance of tenacity and passion to succeed in whatever undertakings they pursue becomes more evident as the readers advance in the book. This self-help memoir differs from most self-help books in that it requires the relationship of the readers not only in one issue that they are trying to cope with, but also necessarily in connections with other people. In an inspirational context, “It takes two to tango.”

Book IS IT POSSIBLE FOR SENIORS TO AVOID A FALL

Download or read book IS IT POSSIBLE FOR SENIORS TO AVOID A FALL written by Antonio E. Morales-Pita Doble PhD and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2023-09-28 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IS IT POSSIBLE FOR SENIORS TO AVOID A FALL Falls are the leading cause of injury, emergency room visits, and hospitalizations for seniors in North America. Tripping down can reduce independence and accelerate the need for long-term care. Systematically reading this book— as well as introducing and embracing the author’s recommendations related to physical exercising into their lives— would most likely help seniors to avoid collapsing or plummeting to the floor. In the introduction and first chapter of this book, the writer analyzes important research contributions from Dr. Angela Duckworth, Dr. Katherine Milkman, as well as a fitness professional Amanda Sterczyk as far as physical exercising experiments are concerned. At the end of the day, the scientific groups could not get definite conclusions. This author is convinced that, one of the reasons why the experiments were not successful, was that the word tenacity was not even included or mentioned as a possible factor related to the results of the research. While chapter II may be interpreted as a wake-up call to the readers about the direct physical consequences of plunging, chapter III stands out because it attempts to challenge them to understand, not only the tables, but also their conclusions, and even to create their own in the third table. A special characteristic of this chapter is that the author narrates his own experience introducing tenacity and being in control of his health. Chapter IV is related to the five factors generally leading to a fall, emphasizing the helping role of systematic exercising to reduce the chances of plummeting, which requires the conscientious introduction of tenacity. Additionally, the author includes three factors that can help in avoiding dropping down for seniors, according to his own successful experience. Chapter V includes two very important topics:1) Twenty five suggestions of possible ways for seniors to avoid falling derived from the author’s commitment and dedication to improve his health; and 2) the rivalry or confrontation between tenacity and procrastination exemplified by the author’s two main victories: a) learning English in Cuba during his early youth becoming a bilingual stenographer in less than three years, and b) entering upon the University of Havana without being allowed— by the Cuban government representatives — to finish High School and ranking as the salutatorian student amidst six hundred peers, as well as being appointed as instructor of his own colleagues two years before finishing his career in economics. Chapter VI deals with being in control of one’s health by means of sixteen recommendations and eight symptoms of recognizing that health is not doing well, while Chapter VII relates to the author’s experience in the relationship between systematic exercising, tenacity, and sense of purpose. Chapter VIII is dedicated to the positive effect of walking dogs on avoiding falls in seniors. Chapter IX exemplifies the combination of tenacity and sense of purpose in preventing, steering clear of, or keeping away from falls confirmed by twenty examples of remarkably eminent persons, sixty-five % of which lived more than eighty years.

Book Modality Aspect and Negation in Persian

Download or read book Modality Aspect and Negation in Persian written by Azita H. Taleghani and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2008-06-26 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents a morpho-syntactic investigation on modality, aspect, and negation by concentrating on Persian, and is designed to contribute to theoretical linguistics and the study of Iranian languages. The analysis is based on the Minimalist program. This research challenges the idea that the syntactic structure maps on the semantic interpretation or vice versa. The discussion presented in this monograph shows that the syntactic structure of Persian modals is uniform no matter if the modals are interpreted as having root or epistemic readings. Although it is claimed that modals are raising constructions in different languages, modals in Persian, which does not have subject-raising constructions, show a different syntactic behavior. Furthermore, the structural analysis of the interaction of Persian modals and negation shows that because of the scope interaction of negation and modals, the syntactic structure of modals with respect to negation mostly corresponds to the semantic interpretation of modals.

Download or read book Potential Wadge Classes written by Dominique Lecomte and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2013-01-25 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Let $\bf\Gamma$ be a Borel class, or a Wadge class of Borel sets, and $2\!\leq\! d\!\leq\!\omega$ be a cardinal. A Borel subset $B$ of ${\mathbb R}^d$ is potentially in $\bf\Gamma$ if there is a finer Polish topology on $\mathbb R$ such that $B$ is in $\bf\Gamma$ when ${\mathbb R}^d$ is equipped with the new product topology. The author provides a way to recognize the sets potentially in $\bf\Gamma$ and applies this to the classes of graphs (oriented or not), quasi-orders and partial orders.
