Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you at a crossroads? Do you wonder what should you do with your life? Would life be easier if you could only get some direction? Even if people don't chit-chat about legacies, these are questions arising during silent nights in the mind of almost everyone. Especially in those of us reaching certain life miles like adulthood, middle life and retirement. Have you ever noticed the process of metamorphosis in a butterfly? Getting out of its chrysalis is difficult and painful. You may think you're doing it a service by cutting the upper part of its chrysalis to ease its access out of it. But if you'll do that, the butterfly won't have its wings well developed and it will be crippled for the rest of its life. Struggles and challenges are necessary for metamorphosis to take place. They are necessary for creating and building a legacy too. While you are the ONLY one responsible for knowing what makes you live another day in your own skin and in your own situation, this collection of ideas on getting started to creating and building a legacy could be just the right direction you need. A purpose in life is the main reason people go on no matter what happens to them in the present moment. Such a purpose makes life not only bearable, but enjoyable too. Hence my focus on this collection of ideas is for those who understand the importance of leaving a legacy behind, but haven't got a clue of why they live and what should they do with their lives. It is an inspiring collection for creatives in general and people who never viewed themselves as creative or who never thought they could build anything worthwhile. These ideas are organized as a flashcard set and should be read and processed accordingly. Go through all these flashcards and pick one idea. Focus on it 100% before trying another one if you'd like to. On the back of each card you will find some starting points. This is how I'd start any of these projects. But these steps are not enough - you'll need mentors, detailed information and time to practice. If you set out your heart on one of these projects, you'll face a steep learning curve until you'll learn the ropes and make things happen. If any of these 101 ideas inspired you, I'd love to hear from you! http: //longevityletter.com/contact

Book excerpt: In a world of uncertainty, tomorrow is never promised. Inspired by the birth of my children, I wanted them to have a set of principles by which to live. I wanted them to always know what our family stands for. With all the increase in communication and technology, fewer and fewer people have their own moral compass. Each day there is a bombardment of media designed to gain our attention and fill minds with fear. This book is by no means just for those with children. This is for all families or individuals who wish to build their own legacy. You can begin by writing down your rules for life and how you live, creating the intention, and taking the necessary steps to make the idea become a reality. This is how you go about building a lasting legacy. The goal of this book is for each person who reads it to be inspired to build their own legacy.

Book The Aging Gap Between Species

Download or read book The Aging Gap Between Species written by Anca Ioviţă and published by Anca Ioviţă. This book was released on 2016-12-18 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aging is a puzzle to solve. This process is traditionally studied in a couple of biological models like fruit flies, worms and mice. What all these species have in common is their fast aging. This is excellent for lab budgets. It is a great short-term strategy. Who has time to study species that live for decades? But lifespan differences among species are magnitudes of order larger than any lifespan variation achieved in the lab. This is the reason for which I studied countless information resources in an attempt to gather highly specialized research into one easy-to-follow book. I wanted to see the forest among the trees. I wanted to expose the aging gap between species in an easy-to-follow and logical sequence. This book is my attempt at doing just that. What are the mechanisms underlying the aging gap between species? I intentionally chose to write the answer to this question in plain English. Aging research is too important to hide it behind the closed doors of formal scientific jargon. This book could not have existed if green tea, libraries and the Internet were not invented. The amount of data I had to browse in order to keep the essential patterns is huge. Yet this book is not exhaustive. This is not a dry academic textbook. I tried to instill life in a topic that is hugely important for the extension of human lifespan. Only you can decide if I achieved this. ********* TABLE OF CONTENTS *********** Finding the Forest Among the Trees Being Reliable Counts The Mathematics of Aging The Speed of Senescence Case Study: Aging in Fish How to Estimate Chronological Age Taking Life Slowly On Temperature and Aging Dormancy The Housekeeping Problem Case Study: Aging in Turtles Intracellular Junk Case Study: Aging in Crustaceans Extracellular Junk Case Study: Protein Quality Control The Sweet Poison Are Cell Membranes the Pacemakers of Metabolism? Book Building Knowledge in Higher Education

Download or read book Building Knowledge in Higher Education written by Christine Winberg and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2020-05-27 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From pressures to become economically efficient to calls to act as an agent of progressive social change, higher education is facing a series of challenges. There is an urgent need for a rigorous and sophisticated research base to support the informed development of practices. Yet studies of educational practices in higher education remain theoretically underdeveloped and segmented by discipline and country. Building Knowledge in Higher Education illustrates how Legitimation Code Theory is bringing research together from across the disciplinary map and enabling practical change in a rigorously theorized way. The volume addresses both students and educators. Part I explores ways of supporting student achievement from STEM to the arts, from introductory courses to doctoral training, and from using new digital media to reflective writing. Part II focuses on academic staff development in higher education, reaching from curriculum design to pedagogic practices. All chapters focus on issues of contemporary relevance to higher education, showing how Legitimation Code Theory enables these issues to be understood and practices improved. Building Knowledge in Higher Education brings together internationally renowned scholars in higher education studies, academic development, academic literacies, and sociology, with some of the brightest new researchers. The volume significantly extends understandings of teaching and learning in changing higher education contexts and so contributes to educational research and practice. It will be essential reading not only to scholars and students in these fields but also to scholars and educators in higher education more generally.
