For the next dozen years, Aggie pursues her extraordinary goal: to gather a team of nine talented, dedicated people who want to be heroes.Number one on that roster is Aggie's remarkable grandfather, Bernie. His indomitable spirit--undaunted by personal tragedy and a sometimes-terrifying handicap--is key to the realization of Aggie's dreams. With Bernie's loving guidance, Aggie develops exceptional coping skills, all the while facing the conventional challenges of growing up and finding true love.Aggie is just one girl trying to make a small difference...but like Bernie taught her, "A good deed is never too small."And it works even better when you can do it with a team.

Book excerpt: Mrs Charlotte De Granville wanted a quiet, unobtrusive, not too clever private detective for a very discreet little job. The nature of the assignment dictated a certain economy of truth when it came to briefing said detective. He would detect and she would take care of the rest -- with extreme prejudice. Anthony M Moretti, failed golf pro, onetime Miami nightclub hustler and more recently PI specializing in divorce work, fitted the bill rather nicely. So Tony got the job and the kind of trip that would take him from the glitter of Cape Town's jet set to the rotten underbelly of pulsating Durban to the tropical paradise of the Comoros Islands. Somewhere along the way things become complicated. Things like a black eyed beauty with a voice like Nina Simone or a woman who could stomach a revolution but not a man's betrayal. A young mercenary with hope in his heart and technicolor illusions of an Africa long faded to dusty decay. And an ageing soldier of fortune who really should have known better...

Creena's options are severely limited and further complicated by Integrator attempts to abduct her, the evil purpose of which she can sense but doesn't understand. With no other choice but to adapt to a primitive and alien lifestyle until her situation is resolved, when it finally comes time to leave she discovers she's grown more attached to this backward world than she ever thought possible.[NOTE:--Readers with a strong interest in science will particularly enjoy these stories in which the author demonstrates numerous scientific principles and their importance through entertaining plot action. Book excerpt: Lives depend on keeping secrets buried. He just started digging... Eddie Mackey was busy defending his country when his estranged wife supposedly committed suicide. A year later, he has a new mission: taking down her murderer. And he knows just where to start: the New York City photojournalist who filmed his wife’s last words. Except Miranda Hill won’t betray the secrets of the dead, especially when she has to protect the living. Not to mention, a terrifying accident left her with wicked PTSD. The last thing she needs is a determined marine jeopardizing her hard-won stability. When Eddie’s investigation puts Miranda’s life in danger, he appoints himself the gorgeous woman’s bodyguard. In close proximity, sparks fly even as it becomes clear they are embroiled in something far more sinister than they’d imagined. Soon higher stakes erode the tenuous trust Eddie and Miranda have built. With a killer determined to keep secrets buried, the only way to win is to dig deep—both inside and out—to uncover the truth, expose evil, and deliver justice. This is a compelling, fast-paced, sexy forced-proximity, bodyguard story with a hunky, military hero determined to right the past and an independent, urban woman who must overcome her past in order to fight for the future. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Paradox Of Damian is about love and family...but I'm open for argument. Some will argue that 'The Paradox Of Damian' is about hate. And I understand...after all a lot of people die in this book. If I have to argue, I think that one of my arguments will be for one to study the parables that dom the pages of the great spiritual book called the Bhagavad Gita; a book studied by such as the likes of a Albert Einstein. It was the great Mahatma Ghandi who called the Bhagavad Gita "Spiritual Mother." In essence I believe that the main characters in 'The Paradox Of Damian'kill out of love and not hate. The Paradox Of Damian' touches on politics. My personal opinion is that one's politics doesn't matter. If the underline theme in one's heart isn't about love, then they probably shouldn't read this book...there are many millions more to read. And last but certainly not least, if in this new millennium one is racist, or are offended by gay people, or both, then you probably shouldn't read this book-there are many books out there for you too. Rather one reads this book or not, thanks for reading period. May the Universe always bless you

Book The Maid Who Forgot to Curtsey

Download or read book The Maid Who Forgot to Curtsey written by Marie Taylor Thomas and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We had come by train, carrying our kitbags—two orphans, fourteen and fifteen—evacuated from a war zone in 1944 and sent to the countryside deep in Sussex. We had not thought much about our destination nor the reasons that others must have had to send us en route. We were naïve children to be servants dispatched from an orphanage. So we went where we were sent. We were too young to understand, or for that matter, to have choices.' Following her previous memoir, Matron's Garden, we find Anne—a child raised in a government orphanage and accustomed only to its rigid rules and pecking order—is free from the orphanage's clutches at last. Anne, along with her companion, Aggie, is suddenly transferred into service to a country gentry manor. There she is introduced to the English social strata, a harsh world full of upper class and lower class rules, where forgetting to curtsy can cost her a job. Yet there are advantages; the Martins, a husband and wife who serve as cook and butler, and her employers, Madam and the squire, become her first family. Will Sussex be a welcome refuge from the cruel life of the orphanage? Or will Anne find that the manor house is yet another tough world she has to learn to survive? Read on as Anne recognizes new opportunities, discovers a culture she's never known, and steps out on the pathway to adulthood in Marie Taylor Thomas's second memoir, The Maid Who Forgot to Curtsey.
