Book excerpt: Terry's book, What a Ride! is a must read for any cowboy, young or old. It's laced with danger, wit, and Terry's brand of humor. What a Ride! is a lot of fun. Even though Terry never made the National Finals Rodeo, he was a very successful bull rider. National Finals Rodeo qualifications don't justify or quantify a bull riding career nor should it! I trust Terry totally for his expertise in bull riding instruction. He's a great role model and prayer warrior. The Holland's are a wonderful family who love the Lord Jesus and live life to its fullest. While reading the book, I found myself with sweaty palms and that feeling only bull riders know. I was continually amazed at how accurately Terry describes all the emotions that occur while anticipating and executing a ride-fear, joy, excitement. Wow! Do yourself a favor and give it a read-you won't be disappointed. Don Gay-Eight time PRCA World Champion Bull Rider, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1984. * * * Terry Holland and I have been friends since 1985. I admire him for his love and faithfulness to Debbie Jo. His life is an example to his daughter Khakie, of what godly manhood looks like. Besides being a great bull rider, he has always had an extraordinary gift for telling a story. Terry has told stories that have made my sides hurt from laughter as well as stories about his relationship with God and compassion for people that have brought tears to my eyes. Reading through the pages of What A Ride! stirred up in me the very reason I felt so passionate about riding bulls and reminded me of what has kept me so close to the sport. Many people's lives have been affected because of having Terry a part in them. Terry is a shining example of what Jesus meant when he said in John 15:8, "This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." Enjoy reading What A Ride! and you'll understand why thousands of men have followed the dream of riding bulls. Cody Custer-PRCA World Champion Bull Rider, 1992

Too bad the only place Chase wants her is in his bed. Men leave. Success is forever. Brooke knows the drill, and she's not letting anyone get in the way of her career--or into her heart. Book What a Ride

Download or read book What a Ride written by Hunter Tomson and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2023-08-10 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tom is unable to write a book. He passed away in 2015. Hence I am writing for him. Tom and I came from a rough dramatic background, and we each understood our battles of growing up being abandoned by one parent. Tom enjoyed writing complaints about our social restraints and injustice. Tom's heart was very big in fighting for change, mine too. We enjoyed our love and peace together. This book describes our lives being destroyed by petty right-wing ideology and the quisling of others. It is your opinion that you manifest in this writing. Keep in mind the narcissist will try to make you hate all of mankind and yourself. In this book are letters, art, short stories, and journaling of what took place in our lives. Some information is so far-fetched that it is hard to believe it is true. The book was written to explain how someone can destroy lives just to cover up their reputation, as well as the ease of persuasion within a society. Injustice.

Book What a Ride

Download or read book What a Ride written by Stanley Fenton and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-03-28 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: So, an interesting journey which, inevitably, is drawing to a close. The events that probably have most influenced my life have been the early death of my mother, my involvement in the Vietnam War, the births of my two children, and my divorce. Mums death when I was eleven left a vacuum in the area of motherly love and marred my ability for many years to experience true love. Love is an inspiring quality but an unbearably painful one when it is taken from you. Vietnam? Its impact on me didnt begin to fully materialise until about twenty years later, and then I didnt recognise or didnt want to recognise what was going on. Guilt, regret, injustice, confusion, worthlessness, all descended on me. My marriage failed, my daughter rejected me, and I seriously contemplated suicide. I still have problems with it, and they are fuelled by the oft-repeated images of our overseas-based soldiers returning home in coffins. Im learning to handle it, but progress is slow. My two children are both magnificent, but geography inhibits contact with them my son lives in Belgium and my daughter in Brisbane. But relationships with both are good, and Ive established a better relationship with my ex-wife, Heather. Our divorce was, I believe, largely influenced by the effects of my Vietnam experience. For a critical period, my ability to relate reasonably to others was degraded and my problem-solving capacity was almost non-existent. Something had to give. I lashed out and everyone suffered. What a ride!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • The triumphant true story of a woman who rode her horse across America in the 1950s, fulfilling her dying wish to see the Pacific Ocean, from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Perfect Horse and The Eighty-Dollar Champion “The gift Elizabeth Letts has is that she makes you feel you are the one taking this trip. This is a book we can enjoy always but especially need now.”—Elizabeth Berg, author of The Story of Arthur Truluv In 1954, sixty-three-year-old Maine farmer Annie Wilkins embarked on an impossible journey. She had no money and no family, she had just lost her farm, and her doctor had given her only two years to live. But Annie wanted to see the Pacific Ocean before she died. She ignored her doctor’s advice to move into the county charity home. Instead, she bought a cast-off brown gelding named Tarzan, donned men’s dungarees, and headed south in mid-November, hoping to beat the snow. Annie had little idea what to expect beyond her rural crossroads; she didn’t even have a map. But she did have her ex-racehorse, her faithful mutt, and her own unfailing belief that Americans would treat a stranger with kindness. Annie, Tarzan, and her dog, Depeche Toi, rode straight into a world transformed by the rapid construction of modern highways. Between 1954 and 1956, the three travelers pushed through blizzards, forded rivers, climbed mountains, and clung to the narrow shoulder as cars whipped by them at terrifying speeds. Annie rode more than four thousand miles, through America’s big cities and small towns. Along the way, she met ordinary people and celebrities—from Andrew Wyeth (who sketched Tarzan) to Art Linkletter and Groucho Marx. She received many offers—a permanent home at a riding stable in New Jersey, a job at a gas station in rural Kentucky, even a marriage proposal from a Wyoming rancher. In a decade when car ownership nearly tripled, when television’s influence was expanding fast, when homeowners began locking their doors, Annie and her four-footed companions inspired an outpouring of neighborliness in a rapidly changing world.

Book excerpt: In October 2016, 59-year-old Chris Joseph was stunned when he learned he had third-stage pancreatic cancer. In the midst of the panic and tremendous fear that immediately ensued, Joseph followed the doctor's orders without hesitation and underwent chemotherapy-a choice that was almost a fatal mistake. Months of chemotherapy poisoned his body and nearly destroyed his spirit. With no immediate plan in mind, Joseph fired his oncologist and embarked on an alternative path of recovery, including both natural and Western medicine immunotherapy-one that, against all odds, opened his eyes and healed him, both physically and spiritually. Life is a Ride documents Joseph's journey from terror and doubt to independence, redemption, love and hope. Whether he's launching a "borrow and pay back" company for all manner of musicians in New Orleans, making his journey to Germany for cancer treatment and watching his friends put together a GoFundMe campaign to make the trip possible, or finding opportunities to bond with family and friends, Joseph's spirit, determination and courage will inspire anyone who's struggled-with illness or any other seemingly hopeless situation. By changing the narrative and choosing to write his own story, Joseph found new levels of determination and courage, as well as joy, wisdom and gratitude. Life is a Ride is the tale of a man that turned a death sentence into a life embrace.

Regrettably this was not accomplished.

Book Wearing Red Tracking Reds What a Ride

Download or read book Wearing Red Tracking Reds What a Ride written by Leonard N. Giles and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2010-04-08 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Entering the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1960 with visions of rural police duties, highway patrol or perhaps plain clothes detective work, I ended up in an unanticipated place, completely foreign to my expectations. In 1964, I was inducted into the obscure and secretive world of subversion and counter-espionage investigations. One of the first books I was instructed to read was: The Theory and Practice of Communism, hardly the stuff I was interested in. I didn’t know much about the Security and Intelligence Branch and I had a lot to learn about Communists, the Reds, Lenin’s Lads or whatever they called them. Previously, my closest encounter with anything related to communism was the Cold War bomb shelter at my first Detachment; a Soviet diplomat, driving a Cadillac that I stopped for speeding; and, massive United States troop movements I observed in Los Angeles at the height of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. That showdown between U.S. President John F. Kennedy and Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev was probably the closest the World has ever come to all-out nuclear war. That event and the ever-present threats posed by the Cold War convinced me I needed to get serious about the work I was about to embark upon. This book covers the challenge of maintaining pace with the gathering storm of Chinese political and economic espionage, while at the same time coping with the organizational and individual stress of the McDonald Commission inquiries. It also speaks of the complexities of staffing, management responses during these trying times, of careers floundering and some flowering as the new Service, inundated with over-sight, new policies, procedures, restrictions and guidelines, tried to get its feet firmly on the ground. The stigma of “old wine in a new bottle” held sway in a climate of trying to move forward. Then the catastrophe of the 1985 Air India bombing––Canada’s 911––complicated matters even further while C.S.I.S. was still in its infancy. The drama seems to be without end as the Phase II report of the Major Commission of Inquiry into the Investigation of the Bombing of Air India Flight 182 has––at the time of this publication––yet to be released. This is a telling memoir of a career in policing, intelligence and counter-espionage in Canada and overseas; in Services in the midst of traumatic organizational change and stress, mixed with inexplicable management tactics and the pride of diplomatic service.
