The idea with this workbook is to simplify good quality mental health treatment enough that even the least experienced and least qualified mental health professionals can use it to implement treatment effectively. The needs of this modern, post-COVID world have changed since the demand for mental health services grew exponentially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The demand for mental health services grew much faster than the old ways could handle which caused waitlists for services to grow longer, emergency rooms to become overcrowded with patients dealing with psychiatric emergencies, and due to financial reasons and insurance regulations, more often than not, the most vulnerable client populations are assigned to the least qualified and least experienced clinicians. The most experienced and most qualified mental health professionals are more likely to only accept private pay clients or clients with commercial insurance (whether they pay for it themselves or have a job that provides those insurance benefits). Also, mainly due to financial reasons, most mental health professionals, practices, and agencies do not have the financial means (or the extra time) to provide proper training for evidence-based practices to their clinicians, and the number of qualified experts with several years of experience and wisdom is much smaller compared to the number of clients in need and less qualified clinicians such as those who are fresh out of graduate school and even counseling interns, which puts even more limits on service capacity, training capacity, and overall service quality. The goal with this workbook is to provide a simple and practical way for even the least qualified and least experienced mental health professionals to be able to use it to implement effective treatment for clients in need. Especially the more vulnerable populations with more serious mental health challenges as well as financial hardships and constraints.
