Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Yearning for the Unattainable By: L.L. Eadie Eadie’s gift for understanding the adolescent heart is on full display … in this delicious witch’s brew of southern gothic, paranormal romance and realistic contemporary. The town of Wiregrass is a character in itself with its whispers, horrors and secrets. And at the heart of it all is Gentry, the newcomer, who innocently looks for love, but instead is drawn into a portal that nearly takes her life. -Joyce Sweeney on Yearning for the Unattainable Eadie’s work stands out from the usual teen novel. Written in a light, easy style Tuesday’s story of emotional emancipation is one that any teenager can appreciate. -Kirkus Reviews on Mistaken Identity A love story mixed with tragedy and humor. Secrets and broken promises from the author’s youth (and from all teenagers’ lives) prompted Eadie to write this story. She hopes her readers will see themselves in her characters and be able to feel their emotions—recognize them—relate to them—laugh and cry with them.

Book Angels Dance on the Head of a Pin

Download or read book Angels Dance on the Head of a Pin written by GlenScott Thomas Copper and published by LifeRich Publishing. This book was released on 2022-12-02 with total page 1038 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The empty Sky Room was an oval Victorian greenhouse restaurant atop Chicago’s about-to-be-destroyed 17-story Majestic Hotel. It was a penthouse covering three-fourths of the roof, which was surrounded by a safety parapet about three feet high, capped with glazed tile the green color of oxidized bronze. I expected that Willie would be waiting to leap out at me from behind one of the abandoned fake plants. All I heard over the storm was the murmuring of pigeons hiding in the chimney from the rain. I stood in the center of the room, figuring Willie must have secreted herself in her trench coat and hat against one of the ebony oak pilasters along the edge of the room. I waited for lightning to give away her position. It did. I saw her outside the glass walls through rivulets of rain, as sheet lightning illuminated the clouds over the lake, silhouetting Willie perched atop the parapet wall on the far corner of the building like some sort of gargoyle. The tails of her trench coat were flapping in the gale rising from Quincy Street. Her rain hat was gone and her drenched black curls were writhing on each side of her face. I ran to the door she’d left open and stepped toward her. She crouched like a swimmer on a starting block, staring at the bottom of the pool stories below... a very dark pool. A flashing traffic light jaundiced her face like some wild Hitchcock effect. She didn’t look at me, but down toward the blinking amber light. I stopped dead in my tracks, not sure what to do. She was perched only a few feet from where I stood. If I startled her, she could fall. I looked for a gentle way to get her attention. The low thunder from the sheet lightning over Lake Michigan growled in our faces. Suddenly a shock wave of light and heat, like a nuclear blast, erupted as lightning struck the boom of the demolition derrick. A gust of hot firey dragon breath belched from the crane. Willie bolted straight up, but she lost her footing on the parapet’s wet glazed cap. As she did, I leapt from the doorway and was able to catch hold of the tail of her trench coat just as her butt hit the edge and slipped over the side. I had the trench coat and the trench coat had Willie, but only by her arms. I was in a tug-of-war where both sides would win, or both sides would lose. Without thought, I collected all the material from her coat that I could and twisted it by ducking and pirouetting behind the parapet. This wrapped the makeshift hawser around my left forearm for a more-secure grip. I peered over the parapet where I could see the top of Willie’s head with her arms raised up above her like count Dracula about to turn into a bat and take flight. “Cross your arms!” I shouted, but there was no response.

Book excerpt: Beware the Eyes of Stink! Author Takes on Oddly Enchanting World of Horror in Newest Screenplay NEW YORK – Stink Eyes. It is a look of incredible hatred, a look that – if intense enough, if long enough, if delivered by a person who truly hates – can result in a curse. And it is the look given to Rolando Karputchnick by his soon-to-be ex-wife, Neptune, as she lays dying in the street after a hit-and-run. Lawrence J. Corneck has done it again, shocking and satisfying readers with his eccentric, outlandish characters and trademark brand of sinister humor in his dark new screenplay, Bald Lubavitcher (published by AuthorHouse). A companion to Corneck’s previous books, Bald Lubavitcher follows the outlandish and arrogant Rolando from Geezer Pleaser (published by AuthorHouse), who, in typical Rolando fashion, doesn’t seem too upset about his wife’s sudden expiration. His only cause for concern? Neptune’s departing serving of Stink Eyes. As Neptune fades out of his life, a Movie Buff walks in. “Not an ordinary Movie Buff,” writes Corneck. “But a Movie Buff from Hell, a Movie Buff who assumes the persona of Major Characters in Movies and then proceeds, if one is a believer in the Occult (and dare one not be), to enforce Neptune’s Curse.” Rolando sues the Movie Buff, an ex-con who owes him money, and the two hot-headed men get caught up in an obsessive and unusual rivalry that involves company takeovers, a mind-altering painting, mystery and, of course, murder. The Movie Buff’s last big role? A big surprise. Born and raised in New York, Corneck continues to love living in the Big Apple. He is also the author of Existential Hell: A Screenplay Trilogy, Big Cigar, small d**k, FAT FAT Snitch and Geezer Pleaser (all published by AuthorHouse), companions to Bald Lubavitcher. More screenplays based upon earlier characters, including Mime’s the Word, Bubble Catcher, Asphalt Bungle and Bitch Fight at the KO Corral, will soon be available through AuthorHouse. According to Corneck, each of his screenplays will be written in a different genre: cat and mouse, domestic drama, high adventure, coming of age, comedy, romance, horror, tear-jerker, show biz, caper and western.
