Book excerpt: Excerpt from Weekly Reports of the Offices of Western Irrigation Agriculture and Demonstrations on Reclamation Projects, Vol. 17: July 4, 1925 Early in the week ending July 25, preparations were made for a meeting of the poultrymen of the-project to hear Mr. Graham of the Department of Agriculture give an illustrated talk on egg grading. A circular letter announcing this meeting was sent out to the principal poultrymen of the project. A.morning and afternoon session was held on Friday and in addition a Special session was held with the merchants in one of the stores. There was a total attendance of twenty five interested poultrymen and handlers of eggs. Poultry diseases have required some attention during the week. One case 0? What might he described as (going light) was investigated, and the matter has been referred to the State Disease Control Lab oratory. Two rather serious cases of chicken pox developed, one among a flock of two hundred chickens and the other among a flock of one thousand turkeys. Vaccine was ordered for the chickens and instructions given for vaccinating. The turkeys are being watched carefully and the sick birds isolated with the expectation that they will have to be vac cinated in order to control the disease.
