Book Weekly Insights for the Workplace a Devotional for Christian Professionals

Download or read book Weekly Insights for the Workplace a Devotional for Christian Professionals written by Agnes Amos-Coleman and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2016-03-04 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our Christian faith cant be left for Sunday use only, yet the pressure in many working environments does not permit thoughts of much other than the immediate tasks being faced. So I welcome this Devotional, which focuses on the Christian in the workplace. A good starting point would be to read each weeks Devotional on Monday at breakfast, on the journey to work, or during morning coffee time, and so set ones thoughts on an aspect of Christian living and work for the week ahead. It isnt always wise or possible to try to discuss ones faith with colleagues while at work, but I still recall the witness of a Christian who worked in the same factory as me many years ago. His work brought him into contact with people of all levels and responsibilities. Everyone spoke well of him. His clear Christian witness was in the way he did his job. As you read this Devotional each week I pray that you may, Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16, NJKV). John Wedlake, (Retired), Board Member Christian in Communication, England, United Kingdom.

Book excerpt: As our culture as a whole continues to move further away from Christ, many Christian professionals are left with the sometimes perplexing task of thriving in a secular workplace while remaining rooted in their Christian faith. Just as we should in all areas of our lives, we can look to scripture for guidance. The act of working is, of course, not an exclusively Christian activity. However, work should look different for Christ-followers because of where we place such important things as identity, authority, worship, and hope. This book unpacks ten Biblical principles for Christian professionals who want to show up as positive ambassadors for Christ in the modern workplace. Throughout the book, author and coach Miranda Carls uses her secular work background and her Christian theology to unpack important topics like worldview differences, spiritual gifts, work ethic, evangelism, and the value of Christian fellowship in the workplace. Full of relatable stories, scriptural insights, reflection exercises, and self-study resources, this book is a must-have for any Christian working in a secular workplace.

A source of wisdom for this devotional is the Bible, but it's a different approach than a typical devotional. For Coming Clean in the Workplace, the Bible is treated as a book of morals, not as a "religious" book. You do not need to be a "Christian" to read this book and get value out of it. Book Reflections of God s Work

Download or read book Reflections of God s Work written by Paul Mclean and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-08-23 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work by Paul McLean is a deep weekly devotional that is both introspective and interactive. It is a weekly study as opposed to a daily reading in order to involve the reader on a more contemplative journey into focused biblical issues. By use of a weekly instead of a daily study, this devotional allows an opportunity to go deeper with God by narrowing the reader's focus on particular biblical principles that impact his or her personal sphere. McLean vigorously maintains that Bible study, deep personal analysis, and prayer are critical anchors in weathering any of life's storms while at the same time producing Christian growth and maturity. They are also the pillars from which growth, life balance, and fulfillment are achieved. This book is interactive through the use of journaling thoughts, impressions, and messages received through connecting with God's word (Bible) during the week. Essentially, the reader evaluates his or her life by answering, in journalistic form, pointed and personal life questions. McLean believes that prayer and contemplative study play critical roles in the process of hearing from God. This devotional can also be used as a study guide for group sharing and personal growth. Each chapter touches on insights and personal experiences McLean has encountered in his work as a probation officer and from his involvement in prison ministry. He discovered that by witnessing the transforming power of Jesus Christ in the lives of criminal offenders, he was changed and shaped by God for a higher purpose.
