Book Wear Characteristics of Industrial Platings

Download or read book Wear Characteristics of Industrial Platings written by KG. Budinski and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electroplates and chemical conversion coatings are frequently employed to alter the tribonetic characteristics of surfaces; there are, however, no standard test methods for comparing these coatings. In this study, widely used metal-to-metal and abrasive wear testing techniques were modified to rank the wear characteristics of commonly used industrial electroplates and similar treatments. The main problem encountered with these "standard" tests was comparing thick platings with those that can only be produced by normal techniques in thicknesses less than about 5 ?m. The testing problems and test rigs are described, and test results are presented to serve as an aid in selection of platings for solving wear problems in machine components.

Book Selection and Use of Wear Tests for Coatings

Download or read book Selection and Use of Wear Tests for Coatings written by Raymond George Bayer and published by ASTM International. This book was released on 1982 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The selection and use of wear tests for coatings are discussed. Coated materials are vastly different and more complicated than uncoated or monolithic materials. It is therefore necessary to characterize the coating and the coating/substrate interface in terms of physicochemical and mechanical properties. Wear is a multi-faceted phenomena. Various tests used to study the wear properties of coatings are described. They include tests for adhesive wear, abrasive wear, impact erosion wear, and fatigue wear.

Panda and published by ASIA PACIFIC BUSINESS PRESS Inc.. This book was released on 2024-01-01 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electroplating and Electrochemicals, industries shimmering with growth and profitability potential, are truly riveting. Electroplating, an intricate process, involves the electrodeposition of a svelte metallic stratum onto diverse substrates utilizing electric currents. This technique entails submerging the intended object, the substrate, into an electrolytic bath brimming with metal ions and, through the application of an electric current, achieves a homogeneous metallic veneer. Conversely, Electrochemicals are birthed from electrochemical reactions. These intricate reactions are characterized by the transference of electrons among distinct compounds within an electrolytic milieu. Through the deliberate orchestration of electron flow, a plethora of chemical reactions are catalyzed, culminating in the synthesis of targeted chemicals. This methodology finds its application across a spectrum of industries, encompassing pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and energy storage sectors. The global electroplating market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.5%. The growth in the market can be attributed to the increasing demand for electroplated products from various end-use industries, such as automotive, electrical & electronics, aerospace & defense, Jewellery and machinery parts & components. In addition, the growing awareness about corrosion protection and decorative finishes is also propelling the growth of this market. This book contains in-depth information about Electrochemical Processing, Metal Surface Treatment, Electroless Plating, Electroplating, Electroplating of Aluminium, Cadmium, Chromium, Cobalt, Copper, Gold, Iron, Lead, Nickel, Bright Nickel, Silver, Alloy, Platinum, Palladium, Rhodium, Bright Zinc, Tin, Plastics, Barrel, Zinc Electroplating Brightener, Metal Treatments, Electrodeposition of Precious Metals, Electropolishing of Stainless Steel, Case Hardening, Electroless Coating of (Gold, Silver), Buffing and Industrial Metal Polishing Compounds, Aluminium, Gold and Its Compounds, Complex Salts of (Copper, Silver and Gold), Hydrides of Silicon, Chemical and Electrochemical Conversion Treatments, Electrostatic Sealing.
