Book Weak Neutral Currents and Future Z Mass Measurements

Download or read book Weak Neutral Currents and Future Z Mass Measurements written by and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goals of this work are: to test the standard SU(2)/sub L/ x U(1) model at the tree and quantum loop level, provide a precise determination of sin2 theta/sub W/ which could, for example, be used to rule out or at least constrain various grand unified theories (GUTS), and look for hints of ''new physics.'' The topics this paper elaborates on are radiative corrections, top quark mass bounds, grand unified theories (GUTS), and extra Z' boson constraints. In addition, the implications of a precise Z boson mass determination at SLC would have when combined with existing neutral current data is examined. 21 refs., 3 figs., 3 tabs. (LSP).

Book Precision Tests Of The Standard Electroweak Model

Download or read book Precision Tests Of The Standard Electroweak Model written by Paul G Langacker and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-02-23 with total page 1032 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High precision measurements of weak neutral current and charged current processes and of the properties of the Z and W bosons have established the standard electroweak model as correct down to a distance scale of 10-16 cm, and are a sensitive probe of possible underlying physics. In this book, all aspects of the program are considered in detail, including the structure of the standard model, radiative corrections, high precision experiments, and their implications. The major classes of experiments are surveyed, covering the experiments themselves, the data analysis, results, and prospects. This volume is a detailed reference for theoretical and experimental researchers, as well as an introductory text for advanced students.

Book Particle Physics Perspectives And Opportunities Report Of The Dpf Committee On Long term Planning

Download or read book Particle Physics Perspectives And Opportunities Report Of The Dpf Committee On Long term Planning written by Robert N Cahn and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-09-20 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the result of a broad-based and in-depth study of high energy physics commissioned by the Executive Committee of the Division of Particles and Fields of the American Physical Society. This year-long study was initiated in the early 1994, in the wake of the cancellation of the SSC, and is meant to complement the report of the Drell HEPAP subpanel, charged with providing a vision for the future of the field. The DPF study of high energy physics was organized on the basis of the working groups, each led by a number of co-conveners chosen among established leaders in the various subspecialties in the field. These conveners, in turn, organized their working groups by inviting other active workers in the discipline to participate and gathered further input from the community by holding a variety of specialized meetings and workshops. This book contains the final reports of the 11 working groups assembled for the study, along with an extended overview and executive summary by the editors.
