Book excerpt: This is a self help book on how to teach yourself to control and in fact stop "your " use of Tobacco in any form once and for all. The author is a 59-year-old male who smoked 1 pack of Cigarettes each day for 22 years. That's 7300 cigarettes per year or in his case it was 160,600 cigarettes for 22 years. That's enough to make anyone sick and certainly has. From the age of 16 to 38 he always knew that one day he would eventually want to stop smoking and find a way to regain control of his life with respects to his one pack a day habit. While driving a truck in the middle of his normal work day back in the summer of 1986, he experienced some sudden fluttering in his chest and dizziness. Because he felt instant fear and out of control over this unexplained feeling he quickly made an appointment to see a cardiologist for a complete physical. Upon completion of his physical with his Doctor he was told he was very fit and in fine shape for a young man at 36 but that by the time he was 45 he could experience some real problems as he already had a wheeze. Even though there is no history of heart problems in his family being of Italian decent, and longevity was well established with parents who lived to almost 90 and grand parents who made it to 95 and 100, his concerns grew. He felt threatened by the thought of heart trouble from smoking because he once witnessed two men die right before his eyes from heart attack, and both men happen to be heavy smokers. His fears began to take their toll rapidly with the doctor's simply advice to "QUIT SMOKING NOW."

Book excerpt: Was the financial crisis of 2008 caused by a small group of greedy Wall Street bankersor was there something more sinister at work? Did it begin when free-market politicians gained control of Washington DC, or was it linked to a longer history, starting decadesor even centuries ago? Points On A Line narrates an epic tale of manipulation of economic and political events by a secretive group of privileged citizens determined to regain control over the world order. For Jude Anders, the blue-collar kid of a single mom, the journey begins in campus protests of the Vietnam War. Fleeing to Toronto to dodge the draft, he meets eventual lifelong friend Anton Tomasin, an enigmatic young man adopted into wealth and privilege. Their apparently coincidental meeting sets the course of Judes future, dragging him into the heart of American economic policy during the military coups in Chile and Argentina in the 1970s through the complicated chain of events that ultimately brought about the collapse of the world economy in 2008. As an advisor to the newly elected President with an intransigent Congress, Jude offers him a chance to reset Americas financial future with a drastic economic elixir called Plan B.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry that is but also is not, taken to unusual levels in an imaginative style that always makes you wonder where you will be taken this time. Poetry, a few short stories, and quotes serve as the launching pad for Elaine M. Mullen, also known as the GreenOgress, to introduce more writings that are novel and relevant. Their appeal lies in their diversity and scope: investigating, exploring, and exposing both the lighter and darker shades of humanity. Closely followed by Google and known to many via Twitter, Scriggler.com, and other writing platforms, she has charmed even the most reluctant of readers to give poetry a second glance and second chance. Be the topics simple or complex, contemporary or historical, internal or external, her maxim is that vague scripting is to be avoided at all costs: “I will never use a five-dollar word when a fifty-cent one will do just as well.” As with her three previous books, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!

In the decades that followed, the surviving Worlds orbiting the dead planet have become the last refuge of humankind. With the discovery of a possibly habitable planet in a distant star system, ten thousand brave colonists are preparing to depart from New New York aboard the interstellar vessel Newhome. Among them is Marianne O’Hara, who will ultimately control the fate of what remains of the human race. The momentous voyage is plagued from the start by ignorance and sabotage, and by the dark tenets of a nihilistic religion dedicated to ultimate destruction. But despite the many trials and tragedies, the spacefarers—and particularly Marianne and her loved ones—will be forced to endure. There is no turning back once the journey begins . . . for soon there will be nowhere left to return to. With Worlds Enough and Time, Hugo and Nebula Award–winning author Joe Haldeman completes his magnificent story of humankind’s destruction and rebirth, capping off his acclaimed trilogy with a truly transcendent tale of destiny, courage, selflessness, dedication, and the resilience of humankind. Book excerpt: 180,000 years have passed The Ark has returned with others from outside our galaxy. All the members of the conspiracy to save the Progeny and Furries are making bets on what they will find. Did the Progeny and Furries on the planets they seeded find the Box? If so, what did they do with it? Have any of them gone into space? Did any of them meet? If they did, what happened? What they do find are three things: surprises, galactic war, and eventually a journal entitled “Stories from the Tree”. The journal does not answer all their questions, but for each of the seeded planets, including Research 4, there is a story recounting the events surrounding the finding of the Box. Reading through the papers he found in the barn, the author was surprised to discover how significant the finding of the Box was on some planets and how insignificant it was on others. In all cases, however, drama surrounded the finding of the Box. Each story, in addition, gave those on the Ark a snapshot of the culture that had arisen on each of the planets during their absence.
