Book Teletype We Made That Data Move

Download or read book Teletype We Made That Data Move written by Herbert A. Waggener and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2010-05-15 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I joined Teletype in 1973, at a time when the popular Model 40 product line had been introduced. However, Teletype custom designed semiconductor parts were in very short supply, and the TTY silicon manufacturing process was in trouble. This is the story of how we rose to the situation, fixed the problems, and continued our development of superb semiconductor technology targeted at Teletype product needs. Team Teletype, a family-style company-wide phenomenon, could be proud of their collective achievements. It is a bit of a shame that we were dissolved in our finer hours, by forces well beyond our control. It was not for want of commitment or ability that Teletype sank from sight. They were a fine group! This is my remembrance of the era.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What can you do with a degree in architecture? Where might it take you? What kind of challenges could you address? Architects After Architecture reframes architecture as a uniquely versatile way of acting on the world, far beyond that of designing buildings. In this volume, we meet forty practitioners through profiles, case studies, and interviews, who have used their architectural training in new and resourceful ways to tackle the climate crisis, work with refugees, advocate for diversity, start tech companies, become leading museum curators, tackle homelessness, draft public policy, become developers, design videogames, shape public discourse, and much more. Together, they describe a future of architecture that is diverse and engaged, expanding the limits of the discipline, and offering new paths forward in times of crisis. Whether you are an architecture student or a practicing architect considering a change, you’ll find this an encouraging and inspiring read. Book The Mess That We Made

Download or read book The Mess That We Made written by Michelle Lord and published by Flashlight Press. This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mess That We Made explores the environmental impact of trash and plastic on the ocean and marine life, and it inspires kids to do their part to combat pollution. Simple, rhythmic wording builds to a crescendo ("This is the mess that we made. These are the fish that swim in the mess that we made.") and the vibrant digital artwork captures the disaster that is the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Children can imagine themselves as one of the four multi-ethnic occupants of the little boat surrounded by swirling plastic in the middle of the ocean, witnessing the cycle of destruction and the harm it causes to plants, animals, and humans. The first half of the book portrays the growing magnitude of the issue, and the second half rallies children and adults to make the necessary changes to save our oceans. Facts about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, ocean pollution, and how kids can help are included in the back matter.

Book Lennon on Lennon

Download or read book Lennon on Lennon written by Jeff Burger and published by Chicago Review Press. This book was released on 2016-11-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Lennon was a highly opinionated and controversial figure with a commanding personality and quick wit. And he made a point of living his adventurous life as openly as possible. Whether he was experimenting with LSD, Transcendental Meditation, primal therapy, macrobiotic diets, or recording techniques, the public was on board every step of the way. He spoke candidly about his intense, sometimes tumultuous relationship with Yoko Ono, his split with the Beatles, his squabbles with Paul McCartney, and just about everything else, baring his emotional ups and downs for all to see. By the time he granted his—and this book's—final interview, only hours before his death, he had become one of the most famous people on the planet and an articulate commentator on politics, human relations, and world peace. Lennon on Lennon is an authoritative, chronologically arranged anthology of some of Lennon's most illuminating interviews, spanning the years 1964 to 1980. The majority have not been previously available in print, and several of the most important have not been widely available in any format. Interspersed throughout the book are key quotes from dozens of additional Q&As. Together, this material paints a revealing picture of the artist in his own words while offering a window into the cultural atmosphere of the sixties and seventies.
