Book Way to Operationalize the Department of Defense s Critical Infrastructure Protection Program Using Information Assurance Policies and Technologies

Download or read book Way to Operationalize the Department of Defense s Critical Infrastructure Protection Program Using Information Assurance Policies and Technologies written by Arthur R. Friedman and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Critical Infrastructure Protection Program has recently reorganized under the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense under the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. Requirements have been set forth in DoDD 3020.ff, Defense Critical Infrastructure, which is in final coordination and is anticipated to be published later this fiscal year. This policy states that Defense Critical Infrastructure and non-DoD infrastructures are essential to planning, mobilizing, deploying, and sustaining military operations within the U.S. as well as globally, shall be available when required. Today's Combatant Commanders do not have the ability to quickly and efficiently share information that identifies critical infrastructure assets and single points of failure to prevent physical or cyber attacks from impairing the Global Information Grid. The intent of this paper is to provide a construct to Operationalize the DoD's Critical Infrastructure Protection Program through the use of Information Assurance policies, methodologies, and technologies, and to identify strategic implications of vulnerabilities to the Combatant Commander and supporting agencies.

Book excerpt: "In summary, all of us need to recognize that the cyber revolution brings us into a new age as surely as the industrial revolution did two centuries ago. Now, as then, our continued security requires a reordering of national priorities and new understanding about our respective roles in support of the national goals. The relationships that have stood us in such good stead through the end of the second millennium must give way to new ones better suited to the third."--Page xi.

Book Critical Infrastructure Protection XIV

Download or read book Critical Infrastructure Protection XIV written by Jason Staggs and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-14 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The information infrastructure – comprising computers, embedded devices, networks and software systems – is vital to operations in every sector: chemicals, commercial facilities, communications, critical manufacturing, dams, defense industrial base, emergency services, energy, financial services, food and agriculture, government facilities, healthcare and public health, information technology, nuclear reactors, materials and waste, transportation systems, and water and wastewater systems. Global business and industry, governments, indeed society itself, cannot function if major components of the critical information infrastructure are degraded, disabled or destroyed. Critical Infrastructure Protection XIV describes original research results and innovative applications in the interdisciplinary field of critical infrastructure protection. Also, it highlights the importance of weaving science, technology and policy in crafting sophisticated, yet practical, solutions that will help secure information, computer and network assets in the various critical infrastructure sectors. Areas of coverage include: Aviation Infrastructure Security; Vehicle Infrastructure Security; Telecommunications Systems Security; Industrial Control Systems Security; Cyber-Physical Systems Security; and Infrastructure Modeling and Simulation. This book is the fourteenth volume in the annual series produced by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 11.10 on Critical Infrastructure Protection, an international community of scientists, engineers, practitioners and policy makers dedicated to advancing research, development and implementation efforts focused on infrastructure protection. The book contains a selection of sixteen edited papers from the Fourteenth Annual IFIP WG 11.10 International Conference on Critical Infrastructure Protection, held at SRI International, Arlington, Virginia, USA in the spring of 2020. Critical Infrastructure Protection XIV is an important resource for researchers, faculty members and graduate students, as well as for policy makers, practitioners and other individuals with interests in homeland security.

Book Defense Critical Infrastructure

Download or read book Defense Critical Infrastructure written by Davi M. D'Agostino and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2009-06 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The DoD relies on a global network of DoD and non-DoD infrastructure so critical that its unavailability could have a debilitating effect on DoD's ability to project, support, and sustain its forces and operations worldwide. DoD established the Defense Critical Infrastructure Program (DCIP) to assure the availability of mission-critical infrastructure. This report evaluates the extent to which DoD has: (1) incorporated aspects of DCIP into its exercises in the Transportation Defense Sector; and (2) developed DCIP training standards departmentwide and made installation personnel aware of existing DCIP expertise. Includes recommendations. Charts and tables.

Book DoD Guidebook for Integrating the Cybersecurity Risk Management Framework RMF

Download or read book DoD Guidebook for Integrating the Cybersecurity Risk Management Framework RMF written by Department of Department of Defense and published by . This book was released on 2015-09-30 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Department of Defense (DoD) systems and networks are constantly under cyber attack. Nearly all defense systems incorporate information technology (IT) in some form, and must be resilient from cyber adversaries. This means that cybersecurity applies to weapons systems and platforms; Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems; and information systems and networks. Cybersecurity is a critical priority for the DoD, and is a vital aspect of maintaining the United States'' technical superiority. DoD recently revised several of its policies to more strongly emphasize the integration of cybersecurity into its acquisition programs to ensure resilient systems. This guidebook is intended to assist Program Managers (PM) in the efficient and cost effective integration of cybersecurity into their systems, in accordance with the updated DoD policies. Why buy a book you can download for free? First you gotta find a good clean (legible) copy and make sure it''s the latest version (not always easy). Some documents found on the web are missing some pages or the image quality is so poor, they are difficult to read. We look over each document carefully and replace poor quality images by going back to the original source document. We proof each document to make sure it''s all there - including all changes. If you find a good copy, you could print it using a network printer you share with 100 other people (typically its either out of paper or toner). If it''s just a 10-page document, no problem, but if it''s 250-pages, you will need to punch 3 holes in all those pages and put it in a 3-ring binder. Takes at least an hour. It''s much more cost-effective to just order the latest version from Amazon.com This book is published by 4th Watch Books and includes copyright material. Book Critical Infrastructure Protection

Download or read book Critical Infrastructure Protection written by Javier Lopez and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-03-30 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume aims to provide an overview of the current understanding of the so-called Critical Infrastructure (CI), and particularly the Critical Information Infrastructure (CII), which not only forms one of the constituent sectors of the overall CI, but also is unique in providing an element of interconnection between sectors as well as often also intra-sectoral control mechanisms. The 14 papers of this book present a collection of pieces of scientific work in the areas of critical infrastructure protection. In combining elementary concepts and models with policy-related issues on one hand and placing an emphasis on the timely area of control systems, the book aims to highlight some of the key issues facing the research community.
