Book Enlightenment Through Motherhood

Download or read book Enlightenment Through Motherhood written by Astra Niedra and published by Voice Dialogue in Daily Life. This book was released on 2013-12-13 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motherhood is misunderstood. Since time immemorial we've believed that when women become mothers they are taking time out from real work and serious personal growth, especially spiritual development. But we've got it all wrong. While heavily pregnant with her third child, personal growth writer Astra Niedra attempted a holiday in the tropical paradise of Australia's Far North with her husband and two young daughters in tow. During this ‘holiday’ (we need another word to describe 'an extended overnight excursion with young children) she discovered that the skills and abilities mothers are required to use each day as part of their job are the same as the practices prescribed for enlightenment seekers. Join Astra on her journey of discovery and feel inspired, entertained and spiritually uplifted, all the while becoming increasingly grounded in the unshakeable truth that there is far more to being a mother and raising children than conventional wisdom would have us believe. “Absolutely brilliant! This book is just what the world needs now as our planet continues to move towards political and ecological disaster while the patriarchal systems that still dominate our thinking continue to devalue everything traditionally – and biologically – female.” "In a most perfect balance of yin and yang, of logic and feeling, of humor and gravity, Astra Niedra reclaims for all human beings – not just women – a precious element of that which is truly sacred in life." “Her simple spellbinding stories, her keen intellect, and her unfailing humour make this book a pleasure to read. Here is a new way of thinking of spirituality, of valuing our humanity while living a spirit-infused life, and a fascinating (and novel) path to enlightenment! It's a consciousness changer and I loved it." – Dr Sidra Stone, author of Embracing Our Selves, Partnering, Embracing Your Inner Critic, and The Shadow King "I enjoyed this immensely... Definitely a fun and entertaining book while sharing a bit of spiritual goodness as well." – Katie "This book put into words just what, and how, I was feeling about my own spiritual journey. Women and men have such different experiences and this book beautifully articulates them." – Amanda "A great read for all mothers, I loved this book!" – Ann Shepich “Enlightenment indeed! I hope many women have the opportunity to read Astra’s book. Being pregnant, birthing and mothering are the most important jobs on earth. Honouring these roles is important for governments and society to appreciate and elevate to a much higher status. Astra’s journey is familiar, delightfully written and inspiring.” – Susan Ross, Midwife, Birth Educator and author of Birth Right

But we have to constantly remind ourselves that every beginning is the hardest. And we cannot control anything whatever happens in our life. But we can train ourselves to be used to the waves of life as it moves up and down just to keep flowing. And we have to realize that nothing is in control, everything happens for a reason. Being contented in life looks impossible, but, we can train our mind to be grateful for what we have. Staying strong and positive is the key to face rough rides of life because we are unaware what might come next in life. I aimed to help people like me who are looking for who they are as a person. It is simple and yet difficult to figure out if there is no proper way to discover one self. Sometimes, you may have everything in life but you are still feeling that something is missing within you. Well, that is exactly the point in life when we need to find our life purpose through self-discovery process. Life is like a big ocean and the ups and downs moments in life are like the waves in the ocean. If there is no up and down moments in life, we will never know who we are, how strong we are and how capable we are. These life waves help us to discover who we are as a person. Keep your journey unique and worthy because it has its own limit. Before the life limit expires, be who you want to be and do what you want to do in life. Inspire people around you to be better version of themselves and encourage people to be kind towards each other to create a beautiful world for everyone to live in.

Book Riding the Waves

Download or read book Riding the Waves written by Leo Beranek and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2010-02-26 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The life and work of Renaissance man Leo Beranek: scientist, professor, engineer, busisess leader, inventor, entrepreneur, musician, television executive, philanthropist, and author. Leo Beranek, an Iowa farm boy who became a Renaissance man—scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, musician, television executive, philanthropist, and author—has lived life in constant motion. His seventy-year career, through the most tumultuous and transformative years of the last century, has always been propelled by the sheer exhilaration of trying something new. In Riding The Waves, Leo Beranek tells his story. Beranek's life changed direction on a summer day in 1935 when he stopped to help a motorist with a flat tire. The driver just happened to be a former Harvard professor of engineering, who guided the young Beranek toward a full scholarship at Harvard's graduate school of engineering. Beranek went on to be one of the world's leading experts on acoustics. He became Director of Harvard's Electro-Acoustic Laboratory, where he invented the Hush-A-Phone—a telephone accessory that began the chain of regulatory challenges and lawsuits that led ultimately to the breakup of the Bell Telephone monopoly in the 1980s. Beranek moved to MIT to be a professor and Technical Director of its Acoustics Laboratory, then left academia to found the acoustical consulting firm Bolt, Beranek and Newman. Known for his work in noise control and concert acoustics, Beranek devised the world's largest muffler to quiet jet noise and served as acoustical consultant for concert halls around the world (including the Tanglewood Music Shed, the storied summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra). As president of BBN, he assembled the software group that invented both the ARPANET, the forerunner of the Internet, and e-mail. In the 1970s, Beranek risked his life savings to secure the license to operate a television station; he turned Channel 5 in Boston into one of the country's best, then sold it to Metromedia in 1982 for the highest price ever paid up to that time for a broadcast station. “One central lesson I've learned is the value of risk-taking and of moving on when risks turn into busts or odds look better elsewhere,” Beranek writes. Riding The Waves is a testament to the boldness, diligence, and intelligence behind Beranek's lifetime of extraordinary achievement. Leo Beranek is a pioneer in acoustical research, known for his work in noise control and the acoustics of concert halls, and the author of twelve books on these topics. The many awards he has received include the Presidential National Medal of Science, presented in 2003.

Book Navigating the Rapids and the Waves of Life

Download or read book Navigating the Rapids and the Waves of Life written by Mavis Mazhura and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2014-08-28 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our emotions influence our responses and subsequent reactions to change or to lifes experiences. For a lot of us, our formal and informal education systems did not provide the skills to navigate the changes and challenges we encounter in life. The good thing, though, is that we can still learn it along the way, at whatever stage we are in life. I experienced this kind of learning on the Nile Riverrafting without prior knowledge but with willingness to learn, change the status quo, practice, become better, and be flexible enough to let adventure in. I was a mediocre paddler, and I didnt know how to swimbut I was willing to learn. It is out of that adventure that I am able to reflect on the metaphor of a river as our daily life. The key lessons I took from the river raft that I have seen as key in learning and applying emotional intelligence in our lives for overall success are: Know your course. Stay present. Dont give power to external conditions. Adapt purposely. Have some tools and options. Team with people who are creating the results that you want. Dont flow back on yourself: Get out of obstructions as soon as possibleyour whole life still awaits you! Recharge. Flow on purpose and live. Celebrate the unsung hero inside you.
