True metaphors are single words, such as the noun tiger, the verb hog, and the adjective chicken. Phrasal metaphors combine true metaphors with other words, such as blind tiger, hog the road, and chicken colonel. Other animal metaphors take the form of similes, such as like rats leaving a sinking ship and prickly as a hedgehog. To bake the perfect cake, it takes a balance of all the ingredients, and it's the process of thoroughly mixing the ingredients together to create the perfect blend that matters the most in the end. If we leave out an essential ingredient; whether by error or by omission, the cake doesn't turn into the masterpiece it is intended to be. After you've mixed all the ingredients together it's time to assemble. The fruit is layered on the bottom of the pan and then all other ingredients are poured on the top of the sweet. When the heat is turned up, and the cake is exposed to just the right temperature for just the right amount of time, it takes on an entirely different shape, and it becomes strong enough to stand on its own. The best part about the pineapple upside-down cake takes place at the very end. After the cake has baked for just the right amount of time, it's turned right-side-up and all those sweet juices from the fruit that was once buried on the bottom of the pan now filters through the entire cake to make it even sweeter than it was before, and the sweet can be tasted throughout the entire cake.The heat didn't destroy the fruit, and the fruit didn't stay buried under the burden of the batter. When it's revealed at the end of the process; the fruit that was once on the bottom now graces the top like a crown of gold graced with jewels, and its beauty prompts a hunger for more from everybody who sees it. And, so it is with life.
