Book Manual of Specialised Lexicography

Download or read book Manual of Specialised Lexicography written by Henning Bergenholtz and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 1995-07-14 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From 1990–1994 the Danish Research Council for the Humanities granted a research project entitled “translation of LSP texts”, which was initially split up into five part-projects, one of which has been concerned with LSP lexicography. The Manual of Specialised Lexicography is one of the results of the research undertaken by this project. The primary purpose of the Manual is to contribute towards an improved basis for practical specialised lexicography, which has so far had but a small share in the explosive development that has taken place in general-language lexicography since the early 1970s. One implication of this is that only to a limited extent has it been possible to build upon existing findings. The Manual thus has the twofold aim of offering guidance and direction to authors of specialised dictionaries as well as contributing towards the further development of lexicographical theories.

Book Realism in International Relations and International Political Economy

Download or read book Realism in International Relations and International Political Economy written by Stefano Guzzini and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-11-05 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stefano Guzzini's study offers an understanding of the evolution of the realist tradition within International Relations and International Political Economy. It sees the realist tradition not as a school of thought with a static set of fixed principles, but as a repeatedly failed attempt to turn the rules of European diplomacy into the laws of a US social science. Realism in International Relations and International Political Economy concentrates on the evolution of a leading school of thought, its critiques and its institutional environment. As such it will provide an invaluable basis to anyone studying international relations theory.

Book German Foreign Policy 1918 1945

Download or read book German Foreign Policy 1918 1945 written by Christoph M. Kimmich and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christoph Kimmich’s German Foreign Policy, 1918-1945: A Guide to Current Research and Resources is the most comprehensive guide to archival resources and published materials on the foreign policy of Weimar and Nazi Germany. It lists the archives, libraries, and research institutes, public and private, that hold important collections. While Kimmich’s survey emphasizes archives in Germany, it also covers archives in Europe and in the United States, describing their holdings, terms of access and use, and the guides and inventories available. German Foreign Policy, 1918-1945 also includes a substantial bibliography of published sources, from documentary series to significant contemporary accounts, from the memoir literature to secondary works, with annotations appearing for the more important and the more obscure. This select bibliography concentrates only on works that are serious, innovative, and accessible. It describes the various series of the Nuremberg War Crimes Trial Records and the original trial documents available in archives and libraries. Particular attention is given to the vast and ever increasing availability of materials on the Web, ranging from digitized print materials to archival inventories and source materials. Moreover, in order to facilitate work in the archives, the guide explains the organization and functioning of the German foreign ministry between 1918 and 1945 and notes how it kept and stored its records. This third edition differs from its predecessor by offering new and critical information on German archives that have since been consolidated and relocated after German reunification, on archival sources of hitherto unknown provenance, and on materials available on the Web. It is a reference source for both the established scholar and the novice planning research and a guide for their visits to archives and libraries, enabling them to find their way quickly and efficiently through the voluminous research and research materials that have come to light in recent years.

Book Theory and Politics Theorie und Politik

Download or read book Theory and Politics Theorie und Politik written by K. von Beyme and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 670 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Between Export Promotion and Poverty Reduction

Download or read book Between Export Promotion and Poverty Reduction written by Jan-Henrik Petermann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-13 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The end of the Cold War has prompted many donors of Official Development Assistance (ODA) to fundamentally realign their global aid and trade relations. Despite recent progress in untying ODA and a number of related efforts to enhance the overall efficiency of international cooperation with the poorest countries, it remains unexplained why some OECD states have liberalised their bilateral programmes to a considerable extent – whereas others have continued to use foreign aid as a means to promote domestic exports. Jan-Henrik Petermann widens the scope of previous macro-analyses of ‘system-driven’ reorientations in tying practices in the wake of 1989/90, inquiring into donors’ national parameters of policy-making at the strategic nexus between external trade and international development.

Book Statistical Sources for Social Research on Western Europe 1945 1995

Download or read book Statistical Sources for Social Research on Western Europe 1945 1995 written by Franz Rothenbacher and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The intention of this book is to give a picture of the complex material that has been published in the field of social and econornic statistics in Western Europe. Although there are many guides, bibliographies and reference books on special topics of this broad theme, a general overview has been missing. With this book I hope to fill this gap. The frame of reference is a scientific one: enabling and facilitating comparative social research on Western Europe. In some respect this book enlarges and updates the bibliography written by Peter Flora, "Quantitative Historical Sociology", pub lished in "Current Sociology" in 1975. In principle, this guide is an annotated bibli ography of the most important printed material in the field of official statistics. The legitimacy of such an approach lies in the fact that even today printed statistics are the most important form of dissemination of statistical results, although microcom puters, CD-ROMs and the Internet have changed this situation. In any case, a spe cial section on statistical databases is included for every country, describing the main databases of the statistical offices. Furthermore, the Internet address of each international or national statistical institute is provided in the introductory para graph. This enables the reader to get fast access to online databases and supple mentary online information on statistics via the Internet.

Book Allocation of law enforcement authority in the international system

Download or read book Allocation of law enforcement authority in the international system written by Jost Delbrück and published by Duncker & Humblot. This book was released on 2021 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1994 symposium of the Kiel Institute of International Law, the papers and proceedings of which are hereby made available to the public, takes up not only the general theme of the 1989 conference, i.e. »Strengthening the World Order: Universalism v. Regionalism. Risks and Opportunities of Regionalization«, but also continues the discussions pursued during the 1992 symposium entitled "The Future of International Law Enforcement. New Scenarios - New Law?" The 1994 symposium also continues the now established tradition of bringing together international legal scholars from the United States, on the one hand, and Germany and other European countries, on the other hand. The Institute is strongly convinced that the transatlantic dialogue on the burning issue of strengthening the international legal order as part of an emerging »New World Order« is essential. It was all the more regrettable that for purely accidental reasons the participation, on the European side, by colleagues invited from Poland and other Central and East European countries could not materialize. The focal point of the 1994 symposium was the question as to whether and to what extent the United Nations as a law enforcement agency can be supplemented by regional arrangements/organizations and the state as a law enforcement agent in the international public interest.

Book Hans J Morgenthau

Download or read book Hans J Morgenthau written by Christoph Frei and published by LSU Press. This book was released on 2001-04-01 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hans J. Morgenthau, a founding proponent of political realism, remains the central figure in international relations scholarship of the twentieth century. His book Politics among Nations literally defined the field in 1948 as it heralded the post--World War II paradigm shift in American thinking about diplomacy. Yet when Morgenthau died in 1980 at the age of seventy-six, no one present at his funeral had an inkling about the first half of his life -- his education, his early productive career in Europe and America, or the roots of his political philosophy. In the first and only volume devoted to the intellectual formation of Morgenthau, Christoph Frei draws upon an overwhelming abundance of resources -- including a lengthy paper trail of previously unseen diaries, correspondence, notes, and manuscripts -- to disclose the compelling story of a great mind in the making. Frei identifies the bases of Morgenthau's ideas and clarifies many misconceptions, including Morgenthau's link with Augustinian thought, his relationship with Reinhold Niebuhr, and the impact of major thinkers such as Max Weber, Hans Kelsen, and Carl Schmitt on the scholar. He offers incontrovertible evidence of Friedrich Nietzsche's predominant influence on Morgenthau. Resoundingly praised in the original German, Hans J. Morgenthau is a brilliant life study that presents the first coherent picture of the European intellectual building blocks Morgenthau brought with him to America.
