Book Charlotte the Wonder Dog

Download or read book Charlotte the Wonder Dog written by D. C. Gallant and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2008-12 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written with wit and insight, this writer's biography of her dog expands the parameters of the "I love my dog" genre to create a story appealing not only to dog lovers but also to any reader who enjoys a well-turned phrase and a clever take on the timeless story of a Cinderella: A mutt from the dog pound makes good. Oh sure, if you've heard one tale of yet another adorable dog saved from death row, you've heard them all. But meet Charlotte-charismatic, chatty and compelling-who twice lands the four-legged starring role in "Annie," gets her photo in a national newspaper as a community activist, and can lead you to every groundhog hole in historic Jefferson County, West Virginia. D.C. Gallant grew up in the country and, as an only child, found that rabbits, cats, chickens, horses and dogs make great friends and playmates. Her favorite childhood book was The Adventures of Mabel because the heroine could talk with animals, a talent Ms. Gallant aspired to but never attained until she met Charlotte the Wonder Dog.

Book The True Story of Jim the Wonder Dog

Download or read book The True Story of Jim the Wonder Dog written by Marty Rhodes Figley and published by The RoadRunner Press. This book was released on 2020-11-10 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Long before canine YouTube stars, Missouri laid claim to the Smartest Dog in the World: Jim the Wonder Dog, a Great Depression Era hunting dog that many believed was either a genius or possessed of clairvoyant skills. Evidence existed for both claims: Jim predicted seven Kentucky Derby winners and the winners of the 1936 World Series and presidential race, but the setter could also take direction in foreign languages (Italian, French, German, Spanish), shorthand, and Morse Code and recognized both colors and musical instruments. This is the true story of the dog that became known as Missouri’s Wonder Dog.

Book Bobbie the Wonder Dog A True Story

Download or read book Bobbie the Wonder Dog A True Story written by Tricia Brown and published by Graphic Arts Books. This book was released on 2016-04-12 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bob was an average-looking collie puppy in every way, except for his bobbed tail . . . and maybe that’s why the Brazier family named him Bob, or Bobbie. But he was average in no other way. In 1923, Bobbie joined Frank and Elizabeth Brazier for a cross-country drive from Silverton, Oregon, to Indiana, Frank’s home state, where they planned to visit family. During a stop in Indiana, Bobbie was chased off by loose dogs, and after a week of searching and placing newspaper ads, the broken-hearted Braziers had to give up and start the drive home. Six months to the day after he was lost in Indiana, a very thin Bobbie was spotted on a Silverton sidewalk, his coat matted, his paws raw from wear. Unbelievable as it seemed, the three-year-old dog had WALKED almost 2,800 miles to get back home. Though weak and tired, Bobbie went berserk with joy when he was reunited with his family, and from that day, all of their lives changed. In the weeks and months that followed, his story tore across the country in newspapers and even in a hardcover collection of pet stories. He was the main attraction at an Oregon home-builders convention in Portland, where thousands lined up to pet him, and he starred in a short feature film. Also, the Braziers eventually heard from people along Bobbie's homeward-bound route, places where he’d stopped long enough to recoup, and then he was gone again. These stories verified their thinking. Bobbie had done the impossible. When Bobbie died, he was buried in Portland, Oregon, by the Oregon Humane Society. Rin Tin-Tin was there to lay a wreath at his funeral, which was officiated by the mayor of Portland. This incredible story is all true, and the origins of Lassie Come Home are said to be traced to the story of Bob of Silverton, also known as Bobbie, the Wonder Dog, a Scotch collie mix.

Book Boomer the Wonder Dog

Download or read book Boomer the Wonder Dog written by Charles T Hall and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-08-08 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Boomer the Wonder Dog children’s book series is an effort to promote biblical principles and truths in a narrative form using stories about a real dog and his family. All of the stories are actual circumstances that have been modified to meet the criteria. Boomer was a 110-pound Black Labrador Retriever that grew up in South Louisiana and lived to be 12 years old. Boomer was dearly loved by both family and friends. Boomer was an angel sent by God to teach unconditional love and long-suffering to anyone that knew him. Boomer was also the class clown, and there was never a dull moment with him. If dogs are allowed in heaven, Boomer is probably sitting on a cloud, anxiously waiting for Jesus to throw him another ball to retrieve.
