Book Relembrando A Velha Literatura de Cordel e a Voz dos Poetas

Download or read book Relembrando A Velha Literatura de Cordel e a Voz dos Poetas written by Mark J. Curran and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2014-09-24 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Relembrando-A Velha Literatura de Cordel e a Voz dos Poetas" really contains three important studies on the "cordel": 1) the revision and translation of Curran's PhD dissertation from 1968; 2) the augmentation of one of the chapters of the dissertation, treating Brazil's best known and pioneering poet Leandro Gomes de Barros; 3) the publication of a now historic series of interviews with forty "cordel" poets and publishers in the late 1970s. Curran dedicates much time and energy to this endeavor because he believes the researches were little known in their original form, and more importantly, with the passage of time and the evolution of the "cordel" and Brazil in general, they now remain as historic documents in Brazil's national cultural history.

Book Invers o Sexual 5 A Natureza da Invers o Sexual

Download or read book Invers o Sexual 5 A Natureza da Invers o Sexual written by Havelock Ellis and published by INDEX ebooks. This book was released on 2012-04-23 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Cry of the Earth Cry of the Poor

Download or read book Cry of the Earth Cry of the Poor written by Leonardo Boff and published by Orbis Books. This book was released on 1997 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focusing on the threated Amazon of his native Brazil, Boff traces the economic and metaphysical ties that bind the fate of the rain forests with the fate of the indigenous peopls and the poor of the land. He shows how liberation theology must join with ecology in reclaiming the dignity of the earth and our sense of a common community, part of God's creation. To illustrate the possibilities, Boff turns to resrouces in Christian spirituality both ancient and modern, from the vision of St. Francis of Assisi to cosmic christology.

Book Roberto Burle Marx

    Book Details:
  • Author : Lauro Cavalcanti

  • Release : 2011
  • ISBN : 8492861673
  • Pages : 345 pages

Download or read book Roberto Burle Marx written by Lauro Cavalcanti and published by ACTAR Publishers. This book was released on 2011 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Roberto Burle Marx (Sao Paulo, 1909-Rio de Janeiro, 1994) is known as a landscape architect, but also as a painter, botanist, gardener, chef and jewellery designer. He considered the garden to be one of the fine arts, as the adaptation of the biome to civilisation's natural requirements." This book introduces the realm of the full sensory experience. Burle Marx's work with plants becomes highly pictorial-everything is drawn, coloured and constructed. In this symbiosis between aesthetics and botany, Burle Marx is the master of both species and spaces. His work is the embodiment of the "nature-city," a concept developed from the garden cities of the late 19th century, which has become compromised in the 21st century due to the compact city model. This new publication focuses on Burle Marx's scientific interest in the landscape and his relationship with the environment. Concepts that continue to be of major significance in contemporary landscape architecture, such as ecology, garden as an art form and landscape design in the urban structure, are some of the subjects the book deals with. The visual information of the book is complemented by the texts by Fares El-Dahdah, Francis Rambert, Jacques Leenhardt, Jose Tabacow, Lelia Coelho Frota, Andre Correa do Lago, Dorothee Imbert, Valerie Fraser and Gilles Clement.

Book African Diaspora in Brazil

Download or read book African Diaspora in Brazil written by Fassil Demissie and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-16 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term 'Black Atlantic' was coined to describe the social, cultural and political space that emerged out of the experience of slavery, exile, oppression, exploitation and resistance. This volume seeks to recast a new map of the 'Black Atlantic' beyond the Anglophone Atlantic zone by focusing on Brazil as a social and cultural space born out of the Atlantic slave trade. The contributors draw from the recently reinvigorated scholarly debates which have shifted inquiry from the explicit study of cultural 'survival' and 'acculturation' towards an emphasis on placing Africans and their descendants at the center of their own histories. Going beyond the notion of cultural 'survival' or 'creolization', the contributors explore different sites of power and resistance, gendered cartographies, memory, and the various social and cultural networks and institutions that Africans and their descendants created and developed in Brazil. This book illuminates the linkages, networks, disjunctions, sense of collective consciousness, memory and cultural imagination among the African-descended populations in Brazil. This book was originally published as a special issue of African and Black Diaspora: An International Journal.
