Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The War of the Worlds (1898), by H. G. Wells, is an early science fiction novel which describes an invasion of England by aliens from Mars. It is one of the earliest and best-known depictions of an alien invasion of Earth, and has influenced many others, as well as spawning several films, radio dramas, comic book adaptations, and a television series based on the story. The 1938 radio broadcast caused public outcry against the episode, as many listeners believed that an actual Martian invasion was in progress, a notable example of mass hysteria.

Book Undeniable Biblical Proof Jesus Christ Will Return to Planet Earth Exactly 2 000 Years After the Year of His Death

Download or read book Undeniable Biblical Proof Jesus Christ Will Return to Planet Earth Exactly 2 000 Years After the Year of His Death written by Gabriel Ansley and published by Hillcrest Publishing Group. This book was released on 2010 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Let me ask you a question you probably never pondered: WHY did God create the world in 6 days? Do you think God had NO logic, motive, or purpose behind using that specific number of days? Do you think He just placed a bunch of numbers in a hat and nonchalantly drew one? Or do you think the cosmos required that number of days to be completed, as if God could not have created it in 2, 3, 5, 9, 12, 23 or however many days? Friend, you should know better...God can DO ANYTHING-which brings us back to the original question. The answer to this mystery is contained in the Bible, and its gradual (albeit, secret) uncovering in story after story leads to the stunning title of this book: "Undeniable Biblical Proof Jesus Christ Will Return To Planet Earth Exactly 2,000 Years After The Year Of His Death." But FAR more important than merely discovering that fact, this book will fully elucidate and crush all confusion concerning what a person (soul) MUST DO to obtain eternal life by illuminating the true spiritual meaning behind every detail of the ancient Bible stories. So sit back and hold on, because this book's message is going to be a life-changing ride!

Download or read book Kingdom Journey written by Sean P. Finnegan and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-12-21 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: News flash: "The Bible doesn't teach that people go to heaven or hell when they die." Rather, it teaches that God's kingdom will come to this earth in judgment and restoration, making everything wrong with the world right. The doorway into the age to come is not death but the return of Christ when his followers experience resurrection rather than disembodiment. This simple idea is not only the key to understanding the biblical vision of the future, but it also formed the core of Jesus's gospel message, and it provides the motivation to live out your faith today. The goal of this book is nothing short of igniting a revolution in the church's understanding of the kingdom of God. Kingdom Journey marries a biblical exploration to a historical investigation to explain not only what the kingdom of God is, but also how Christianity lost this precious pearl of great price. Thankfully, several movements over the past five centuries have initiated recoveries of the kingdom idea, but many Christians remain in the dark, beset with medieval folk theology. This book will open your eyes to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness with clarity and vigor.

Book The History of Scottish Theology Volume II

Download or read book The History of Scottish Theology Volume II written by David Fergusson and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2019-09-12 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This three-volume work comprises over eighty essays surveying the history of Scottish theology from the early middle ages onwards. Written by an international team of scholars, the collection provides the most comprehensive review yet of the theological movements, figures, and themes that have shaped Scottish culture and exercised a significant influence in other parts of the world. Attention is given to different traditions and to the dispersion of Scottish theology through exile, migration, and missionary activity. The volumes present in diachronic perspective the theologies that have flourished in Scotland from early monasticism until the end of the twentieth century. The History of Scottish Theology, Volume I covers the period from the appearance of Christianity around the time of Columba to the era of Reformed Orthodoxy in the seventeenth century. Volume II begins with the early Enlightenment and concludes in late Victorian Scotland. Volume III explores the 'long twentieth century'. Recurrent themes and challenges are assessed, but also new currents and theological movements that arose through Renaissance humanism, Reformation teaching, federal theology, the Scottish Enlightenment, evangelicalism, missionary, Biblical criticism, idealist philosophy, dialectical theology, and existentialism. Chapters also consider the Scots Catholic colleges in Europe, Gaelic women writers, philosophical scepticism, the dialogue with science, and the reception of theology in liturgy, hymnody, art, literature, architecture, and stained glass. Contributors also discuss the treatment of theological themes in Scottish literature.

Book W S Graham

  • Author : Ralph Pite
  • Publisher : Liverpool University Press
  • Release : 2004-04-01
  • ISBN : 1781386919
  • Pages : 215 pages

Download or read book W S Graham written by Ralph Pite and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 2004-04-01 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Graham’s work was published by T. S. Eliot in the 1940s and 50s, but as a major post-war poet, his work has received astonishingly little critical attention given its prestige and influence. This collection of essays covers all aspects of Graham’s work – its critical reception, recent influence and its relations with other developments in the arts, in particular the work of the St Ives School of visual artists. It includes some biographical material (brief reminiscences by and interviews with those who knew him) and discussions of the material contained in several collections of manuscripts. Nothing so far published has paid attention to these manuscript collections or to the large number of uncollected poems published since his death. Neither has enough been written about Graham’s importance to poets of the 1980s and 1990s. ‘I first read a W. S. Graham poem in 1949. It sent a shiver down my spine. Forty-five years later nothing has changed. His song is unique and his work an inspiration.’ Harold Pinter

Download or read book Mobius Journey written by George F. Ostfeld and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2018-09-26 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am very happy to have produced this second book of the adventures of the spaceship Cinthea and its passengers—the surviving people of Earth. Having decided to go through the Oort Cloud, not knowing what lies ahead, I had to do some in-depth thinking about what could possibly happen to them. I learned something from this. I learned that an author has to have at least a good imagination to make a story capture a reader’s interest. I have also learned that writing this preface was not the easiest thing to do. Unlike the first book, this story is all-inclusive in that there are no different scenario endings. It is all one story. From writing this book, I have become personally attached to the story concept. The concept being the continuing saga of mankind’s survival on a ringed spaceship one hundred miles in diameter. I have thought about this structure being built and have concluded, in my mind, that the possibility of this coming to actuality can be accomplished. The world’s space technology is such that this possibility is more like a probability. In other words, building such a craft can be done. The International Space Station is a technological marvel for what it represents in this day and age, but and I say but carefully, thinking about the future—it is small, clumsy, and awkward. So in this respect, I ask with guarded hope, What are we waiting for? Why not build a Cinthea-type spaceship? Why not take that “giant leap for mankind,” as Neil Armstrong said? I believe the people of the world are ready for it, but the leaders of the world are not. Ah, I digress. This second book incorporates new adventures, experiences, relationships, and tests of the human spirit. I believe the human spirit will always be tested, challenging good against evil and life against death. Perhaps this is a saga of just that—good, evil, life, and death. Let us take sides with the believers of the future and not only hope good wins but also help in securing a peaceful future.
