To avoid unreasonable estimates and inconsistencies between estimates to alternative merchant ability limits, users should observe the stated restrictions. When comparing equations fitted with different forms of the dependent variable, we based our choices on Furnival's (1961) index of fit and on apparent reasonableness of behavior within and at the margins of the data.
