Download or read book Voices of Spirit written by Elwood Babbitt and published by Light Technology Publishing. This book was released on 1992-05-02 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Voices of Spirit Charles Hapgood discusses fifteen years of work with Elwood Babbitt. He relates the phenomenon of trance mediums to recent research in parapsychology and examines Babbitt's mediumship in depth. Two long chapters devoted to the "mechanics of spirit communication," including the role of "controls" (spirits closer to the earthly plane who guide the medium) and a careful description of how images and spirit voices enter Babbitt's mind, will fascinate both the curious skeptic and the believer. Full-length transcripts of communications which have come through trances are included in this volume.

Book Hearing Voices Demonic and Divine

Download or read book Hearing Voices Demonic and Divine written by Christopher C. H. Cook and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-07 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Open Access version of this book, available at www.taylorfrancis.com/books/9781472453983, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivative 4.0 license. Experiences of hearing the voice of God (or angels, demons, or other spiritual beings) have generally been understood either as religious experiences or else as a feature of mental illness. Some critics of traditional religious faith have dismissed the visions and voices attributed to biblical characters and saints as evidence of mental disorder. However, it is now known that many ordinary people, with no other evidence of mental disorder, also hear voices and that these voices not infrequently include spiritual or religious content. Psychological and interdisciplinary research has shed a revealing light on these experiences in recent years, so that we now know much more about the phenomenon of "hearing voices" than ever before. The present work considers biblical, historical, and scientific accounts of spiritual and mystical experiences of voice hearing in the Christian tradition in order to explore how some voices may be understood theologically as revelatory. It is proposed that in the incarnation, Christian faith finds both an understanding of what it is to be fully human (a theological anthropology), and God’s perfect self-disclosure (revelation). Within such an understanding, revelatory voices represent a key point of interpersonal encounter between human beings and God.

Book The Case for Spirit Photography

Download or read book The Case for Spirit Photography written by Arthur Conan Doyle and published by . This book was released on 1923 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The publicity given to the recent attacks on Psychic Photography has been out of all proportion to their scientific value as evidence. When Sir Arthur Conan Doyle returned to Great Britain, after his successful tour in America, the controversy was in full swing. With characteristic promptitude he immediately decided to meet these negative attacks by a positive counter-attack, and this volume is the outcome of that decision. We have used the term Spirit Photography on the title-page as being the popular name by which these phenomena are known. This does not imply that either Sir Arthur or I imagine that everything supernormal must be of spirit origin. There is, undoubtedly, a broad borderland where these photographic effects may be produced from forces contained within ourselves. This merges into those higher phenomena of which many cases are here described. Those desiring fuller information on this subject are referred to Photo graphing the Invisible, by James Coates.

Download or read book Hearing John s Voice written by M. Eugene Boring and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2019-11-05 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written in the conviction that the church is called into being and nourished by the Word of God that comes through Scripture. But how can Scripture offer any specific guidance for hearers lives today? What are modern readers to make of the dragons and slaughtered lambs in the book of Revelation? What are we to make of a man who turns water into wine while comparing himself to bread? Can people today know what the Bible says and means? The world of the Bible is strange and distant, not only in time and space but also in language, culture, and in its basic assumptions about reality. The first task in both pulpit and pew is not to be in too great a hurry to overcome this distance, but to acknowledge it and respect it. Communication across the gap is the task of the church's preachers and teachers. Drawing on his years of teaching and study, Gene Boring offers a way of opening the ears of those who take the message of the Bible seriously, a message from a world different from our own. Beginning with Revelation, Gene provides a historically informed and pastorally sensitive reading of the various Johannine voices in the New Testament for contemporary preachers and teachers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Logos 2, Vol. 2 is the third of my ten-volume, Logos 1-7 work, each volume of which is able to stand alone as God’s Book of Life. It took me over 3,000 pages in ten volumes to say How and What is Important to Believe. Collectively, in this seven-part Logos Work of ten volumes, I seek to explain by experience who Jesus is, who God is, who the Holy Spirit is, what the Bible is, why it is crucial to life that we believe in them, what “belief” is, what “to be saved” is, just how Salvation is effected, what the “take-away” benefits are, and how to find meaning and purpose in life. As said, each of these ten volumes is able to stand alone as God’s Book of Life, portraying Life with the Holy Spirit by belief in the Christ of Jesus as Savior to eternal life with God. The ten volumes relate my Story of Writing God's Book of Life, using nonfiction essays and poetry with daily help of divine intervention in producing the seven-Logos Work of ten volumes, and the four supporting volumes seek to fully understand and explain this work inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Christ of Jesus. The action of God fulfilled for him in seven years all of Rodger Crafton's dreams of becoming a writer of poetry and prose, an armchair philosopher, and an artist working in his new, upstairs garage atelier.

Book Spirit Voices

Download or read book Spirit Voices written by Ann Weber and published by Off The Common Books. This book was released on 2021-07-10 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ann Weber is a clairaudient channel. For more than forty years she has heard and transcribed communications from individuals and entities from “the other side.” They tell us what it’s like when we die, how to realize our purpose on the planet, and how to find our own spirits and angels to guide our journey. Their words describe the unconditional love that powers all of creation—and the joy that comes to us if we tap into that message. Ann recently retired from the practice of law where she specialized in elder law and estate planning for over thirty years. She lives on a farm in Massachusetts with an assortment of humans, animals, and spirits.
