Originally presented at the biennial conferences of the Recovery project, the essays are divided in five sections: "Rethinking Latino/a Subject Positions," "Negotiating Cultural Authority and the Canon," "Orality, Performance, and the Archive," "Re-Contextualizing Maria Amparo Ruiz de Burton," and "Bibliographic Reports." Aprovechando el conocimiento de estos temas y ciertas facultades especiales con la que algunos de sus integrantes fuimos dotados, nació nuestra pequeña organización familiar reconocida en el astral como "Grupo de Rescate" que, con la ayuda de Seres de Luz y mediante la participación de una médium, logra comunicarse con seres confundidos que al morir no alcanzan la Luz, guiándolos hacia el plano espiritual. El presente libro expone interesantes y variadas comunicaciones del Grupo de Rescate, a través del médium, con estos seres confundidos y su guía hacia la Luz; así como la apertura y desarrollo del don de canalización de uno de los integrantes del grupo como canal de comunicación con seres que ya fallecieron. La transcripción a detalle de estas comunicaciones acercará al lector a vislumbrar lo que sucede en el más allá.

In Buzzing Hemisphere / Rumor Hemisférico, poet Urayoán Noel maps the spaces between and across languages, cities, and bodies, creating a hemispheric poetics that is both broadly geopolitical and intimately neurological. In this expansive collection, we hear the noise of cities such as New York, San Juan, and São Paulo abuzz with flickering bodies and the rush of vernaculars as untranslatable as the murmur in the Spanish rumor. Oscillating between baroque textuality and vernacular performance, Noel’s bilingual poems experiment with eccentric self-translation, often blurring the line between original and translation as a way to question language hierarchies and allow for translingual experiences. A number of the poems and self-translations here were composed on a smartphone, or else de- and re-composed with a variety of smartphone apps and tools, in an effort to investigate the promise and pitfalls of digital vernaculars. Noel’s poetics of performative self-translation operates not only across languages and cultures but also across forms: from the décima and the “staircase sonnet” to the collage, the abecedarian poem, and the performance poem.
