One reason for this delay seems to be that in the case of a priest, who did not belong to any corporate body of the clergy, secular or regular, there have been none to undertake the important and laborious work of promoting his cause; the energies of those devoted to his memory, however learned and capable, being not sufficiently united to attain this end. This is the first ever English translation of the affectionate biography, published originally in Latin in the Jubilee Year 1600.
