Book Image Processing Analysis and Machine Vision

Download or read book Image Processing Analysis and Machine Vision written by Milan Sonka and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 579 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Image Processing, Analysis and Machine Vision represent an exciting part of modern cognitive and computer science. Following an explosion of inter est during the Seventies, the Eighties were characterized by the maturing of the field and the significant growth of active applications; Remote Sensing, Technical Diagnostics, Autonomous Vehicle Guidance and Medical Imaging are the most rapidly developing areas. This progress can be seen in an in creasing number of software and hardware products on the market as well as in a number of digital image processing and machine vision courses offered at universities world-wide. There are many texts available in the areas we cover - most (indeed, all of which we know) are referenced somewhere in this book. The subject suffers, however, from a shortage of texts at the 'elementary' level - that appropriate for undergraduates beginning or completing their studies of the topic, or for Master's students - and the very rapid developments that have taken and are still taking place, which quickly age some of the very good text books produced over the last decade or so. This book reflects the authors' experience in teaching one and two semester undergraduate and graduate courses in Digital Image Processing, Digital Image Analysis, Machine Vision, Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Robotics at their respective institutions.

Book Mathematical Morphology and its Applications to Image and Signal Processing

Download or read book Mathematical Morphology and its Applications to Image and Signal Processing written by Henk J.A.M. Heijmans and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998-05-31 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of the International Symposium on Mathematical Morphology and its Applications to Image and Signal Processing IV, held June 3-5, 1998, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The purpose of the work is to provide the image analysis community with a sampling of recent developments in theoretical and practical aspects of mathematical morphology and its applications to image and signal processing. Among the areas covered are: digitization and connectivity, skeletonization, multivariate morphology, morphological segmentation, color image processing, filter design, gray-scale morphology, fuzzy morphology, decomposition of morphological operators, random sets and statistical inference, differential morphology and scale-space, morphological algorithms and applications. Audience: This volume will be of interest to research mathematicians and computer scientists whose work involves mathematical morphology, image and signal processing.

Book excerpt: This was the sixth in the sequence of the international conferences promoted and organized by the European Association for Signal Processing. The conference has established itself as one of the world's largest and most important meetings on the subject. The 444 papers (in three volumes) are organized under 7 themes, containing the following topics:1. Theory of Signals and Systems:a) Detection, b) Estimation, c) Filtering, d)Spectral estimation, e) Adaptive systems, f) Modeling, g) Digital transforms, h) Digital filtering.2. Image Processing and Multidimensional Signal Processing:a) Coding, b) Enhancement, c) Restoration, d) Medical image processing.3. Speech Processing:a) Coding, b) Synthesis, c) Recognition and understanding, d) Enhancement.4. Implementations:a) Hardware, b) Software, c) VLSI, d) Novel Architectures, e) Array processing.5. Knowledge Engineering and Signal Processing:a) Expert systems, b) Pattern recognition, c) Signal interpretation, d) Image understanding.6. Neural Networks for Signal Processing:a) Theory, b) Speech, c) Vision, d) Implementations. 7. Applications:a) Radar, b) Sonar, c) Communications, d) Geophysics, e) Digital audio, f) Biomedics, g) Sensing, h) Robotics, i) Astrophysics, j) Mechanics, k) other. The diversity of topics in this 3-volume set, as well as the extraordinary tempo at which Signal Processing has progressed, attest to the permanent vitality of this area of research and development. Workers in signal processing will find in these papers the latest advances and results, as well as indications on future research and analysis in this rapidly developing field.

Book Mathematical Morphology and Its Applications to Image Processing

Download or read book Mathematical Morphology and Its Applications to Image Processing written by Jean Serra and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical morphology (MM) is a theory for the analysis of spatial structures. It is called morphology since it aims at analysing the shape and form of objects, and it is mathematical in the sense that the analysis is based on set theory, topology, lattice algebra, random functions, etc. MM is not only a theory, but also a powerful image analysis technique. The purpose of the present book is to provide the image analysis community with a snapshot of current theoretical and applied developments of MM. The book consists of forty-five contributions classified by subject. It demonstrates a wide range of topics suited to the morphological approach.

Book Computer Vision ECCV 2004

Download or read book Computer Vision ECCV 2004 written by Tomas Pajdla and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-05-12 with total page 647 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to the proceedings of the 8th European Conference on Computer - sion! Following a very successful ECCV 2002, the response to our call for papers was almost equally strong – 555 papers were submitted. We accepted 41 papers for oral and 149 papers for poster presentation. Several innovations were introduced into the review process. First, the n- ber of program committee members was increased to reduce their review load. We managed to assign to program committee members no more than 12 papers. Second, we adopted a paper ranking system. Program committee members were asked to rank all the papers assigned to them, even those that were reviewed by additional reviewers. Third, we allowed authors to respond to the reviews consolidated in a discussion involving the area chair and the reviewers. Fourth, thereports, thereviews, andtheresponsesweremadeavailabletotheauthorsas well as to the program committee members. Our aim was to provide the authors with maximal feedback and to let the program committee members know how authors reacted to their reviews and how their reviews were or were not re?ected in the ?nal decision. Finally, we reduced the length of reviewed papers from 15 to 12 pages. We are indebted to Anders Heyden, Mads Nielsen, and Henrik J. Nielsen for passing on ECCV traditions and to Dominique Asselineau from ENST/TSI who kindly provided his GestRFIA conference software. We thank Jan-Olof Eklundh and Andrew Zisserman for encouraging us to organize ECCV 2004 in Prague.
