Book Rheology V1

    Book Details:
  • Author : Frederick Eirich
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2012-12-02
  • ISBN : 0323142591
  • Pages : 778 pages

Download or read book Rheology V1 written by Frederick Eirich and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 778 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rheology: Theory and Applications, Volume 1 is a compilation of papers contributed by experts in the field of rheology - the science of deformation and flow. The collection provides the general concepts and laws of rheology. This volume contains chapters that discuss the concepts of rheology from the standpoint of physics and engineering; phases of the deformation of solids; mechanism of liquid flow, large elastic deformations, viscoelasticity, and melt flow; the rheology of disperse systems; and acoustic responses of liquids. Materials scientists, geophysicists, physiologists, biologists, and pharmacists will find the book very informative.

Book Viscosity of Dense Fluids

Download or read book Viscosity of Dense Fluids written by K. Stephan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The physical properties of fluids are perhaps among the most extensively investigated physical constants of any single group of materials. This is particularly true of the thermodynamic prop erties of pure substances since the condition of thermodynamic equilibrium provides the simplest considerations for experimental measurement as well as theoretical treatment. In the case of non equilibrium transport properties, the situation is significantly complicated by the necessity of measurement of gradients in the experiment and the mathematical difficulties in handling non equilibrium distribution functions in theoretical treatments. Hence, our knowledge of the trans port properties of gases and liquids is perhaps one order of magnitude lower than for equilibrium thermodynamic properties. This situation is very much apparent when examining the available nu merical data on the viscosity of fluids particularly at high pressures. In this work, the authors have performed an outstanding contribution to the engineering literature by their critical evaluation of the pressure dependence of the available data on the viscosity of selected substances. The recommended values reported in the tables and figures also incorporate the saturated liquid and gas states as well as the data of the dilute gas in an attempt to integrate the present work with the recently published work by CINDAS/Purdue University on the viscosity of fluids at low pressures [166]. A deliberate effort was made to treat as many of the substances in the CINDAS volume as possible for which adequate high pressure data exist.

Book High Pressure Rheology for Quantitative Elastohydrodynamics

Download or read book High Pressure Rheology for Quantitative Elastohydrodynamics written by Scott S. Bair and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2019-04-18 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-Pressure Rheology for Quantitative Elastohydrodynamics, Second Edition, contains updated sections on scaling laws and thermal effects, including new sections on the importance of the pressure dependence of viscosity, the role of the localization limit of stress, and new material on the shear dependence of viscosity and temperature dependence viscosity. Since publication of the original edition, the experimental methods, the resulting property data and new correlations have resulted in a revolution in understanding of the mechanisms of film formation and the mechanical dissipation. Describes lubricant rheology and dependence of lubricant viscosity and density on pressure and temperature Provides a detailed description of the relationship of lubricant properties on pressure, temperature and shear stress Includes data for many more liquids, including the recently characterized reference liquids

Book Approximations for the Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of High temperature Air

Download or read book Approximations for the Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of High temperature Air written by C. Frederick Hansen and published by . This book was released on 1958 with total page 724 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The thermodynamic and transport prorerties of high-temperature air are found in closed form starting from approximate partition functions for the major components in air and neglecting all minor components. The compressibility, energy, entropy, the specific heats, the speed of sound, the coefficients of viscosity and of thermal conductivity, and the Prandtl numbers for air are tabulated from 500 degrees to 15,000 degrees K over a range of pressure from 0.0001 to 100 atmospheres. The enthalpy of air and the mol fractions of the major components of air can easily be found from the tabulated values for compressibility and energy. It is predicted that the Prandtl number for fully ionized air will become small compared to unity, the order of 0.01, and this implies that boundary layers in such flow will be very transparent to heat flux.
