Download or read book Healthcare Valuation The Financial Appraisal of Enterprises Assets and Services written by Robert James Cimasi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-03-24 with total page 1098 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A timely look at the healthcare valuation process in an era of dynamic healthcare reform, including theory, methodology, and professional standards In light of the dynamic nature of the healthcare industry sector, the analysis supporting business valuation engagements for healthcare enterprises, assets, and services must address the expected economic conditions and events resulting from the four pillars of the healthcare industry: Reimbursement, Regulation, Competition, and Technology. Healthcare Valuation presents specific attributes of each of these enterprises, assets, and services and how research needs and valuation processes differentiate depending on the subject of the appraisal, the environment the property interest exists, and the nature of the practices. Includes theory, methodology, and professional standards as well as requisite research, analytical, and reporting functions in delivering healthcare valuation services Provides useful process tools such as worksheets and checklists, relevant case studies, plus a website that will include comprehensive glossaries and topical bibliographies Read Healthcare Valuation for a comprehensive treatise of valuation issues in the healthcare field including trends of compensation and reimbursement, technology and intellectual property, and newly emerging healthcare entities.
Download or read book Accountable Care Organizations written by Robert James Cimasi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2013-06-05 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An accountable care organization (ACO) is a healthcare organization characterized by a payment and care delivery model that seeks to tie provider reimbursements to quality metrics and reductions in the total cost of care for an assigned group of patients. Accountable Care Organizations: Value Metrics and Capital Formation explores the historical background and evolution of the ACO model as the basis for the development of the value metrics and capital formation analyses that are foundational to assessing the current efficacy and capacity for change. The book examines the four pillars of value in the healthcare industry: regulatory, reimbursement, competition, and technology in addressing the value metrics of ACOs, including requirements for capital formation, financial feasibility, and economic returns. It focuses the discussion of non-monetary value on a review of aspects of population health within the context of such objectives as improved quality outcomes and access to care. Explains why ACOs might be the cost-containment and quality improvement answer the industry has been looking for Describes the circumstances and capital structures where ACOs represent a sound investment Includes a foreword by Peter A. Pavarini, Esq. The book examines the positive externalities of the ACO model, including results for third parties outside the basic construct of the ACO contracts shared savings payments. It also discusses the potential role and opportunities for consultants in assisting their provider clients in the consideration, development, implementation, and operation of an ACO.
Download or read book Advances in Water Resources Management written by Lawrence K. Wang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-16 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides in-depth coverage of such topics as multi-reservoir system operation theory and practice, management of aquifer systems connected to streams using semi-analytical models, one-dimensional model of water quality and aquatic ecosystem-ecotoxicology in river systems, environmental and health impacts of hydraulic fracturing and shale gas, bioaugmentation for water resources protection, wastewater renovation by flotation for water pollution control, determination of receiving water’s reaeration coefficient in the presence of salinity for water quality management, sensitivity analysis for stream water quality management, river ice process, and computer-aided mathematical modeling of water properties. This critical volume will serve as a valuable reference work for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, designers of water resources systems, and scientists and researchers. The goals of the Handbook of Environmental Engineering series are: (1) to cover entire environmental fields, including air and noise pollution control, solid waste processing and resource recovery, physicochemical treatment processes, biological treatment processes, biotechnology, biosolids management, flotation technology, membrane technology, desalination technology, water resources, natural control processes, radioactive waste disposal, hazardous waste management, and thermal pollution control; and (2) to employ a multimedia approach to environmental conservation and protection since air, water, soil and energy are all interrelated.

Download or read book Advances in Applied Human Modeling and Simulation written by Vincent G. Duffy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2012-07-09 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An examination of the various types of human-modeled technology, Advances in Applied Human Modeling and Simulation not only covers the type of models available, but how they can be applied to solve specific problems. These models provide a representation of some human aspects that can be inserted into simulations or virtual environments and facilitate prediction of safety, satisfaction, usability, performance, and sustainability. Topics include: Anthropometry and human functional data Biomechanics, occupational safety, comfort and discomfort Biometric authentications Driving safety and human performance Enhancing human capabilities through aids or training Fuzzy systems and neural computing Human behavior and risk assessment modeling Integrating software with humans and systems International cooperation in education and engineering research Intelligent agents in decision training Intelligent data and text mining Machine learning and human factors Modeling physical aspects of work Monitoring systems and human decision Psychophysiological indicators of emotion Resilience engineering and human reliability Scenario-based performance in distributed enterprises Special populations Sustainability, earth sciences and engineering System-of-systems architecting and engineering Verification and validation Virtual interactive design and assessment The math and science provides a foundation for visualizations that can facilitate decision making by technical experts, management or those responsible for public policy. In considering a systems perspective and decisions that affect performance, these models provide opportunities for an expanded role of engineers and HF/E specialists to meet technical challenges worldwide. They can also be used to improve time-to-market, increase safety and ultimately the effectiveness of an organization. The book focuses on applications of these newly developed models and predictive capabilities useful to human factors and ergonomics engineers, cognitive engineers, human computer interaction engineers, human performance modeling engineers, and students in related fields.

Download or read book Recall of MPs written by Great Britain. Parliament. House of Commons. Political and Constitutional Reform Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2012 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Government published a draft Bill on the Recall of MPs, with the aim of restoring faith in the political process after the expenses scandal. But the restricted form of recall proposed could reduce public confidence in politics by creating expectations that are not fulfilled. Under the Government's proposals, constituents themselves would not be able to initiate a recall petition. Furthermore, the circumstances that the Government proposes would trigger a recall petition are so narrow that recall petitions would seldom, if ever, take place. The Committee believes that the new House of Commons Committee on Standards, which will include lay members, already has the sanctions it needs to deal with MPs who are guilty of misconduct, including recommending the ultimate sanction of expulsion from the House of Commons in cases of serious wrongdoing. The Committee argues that the option of expulsion must be actively considered and that the House must be prepared to act. The Committee recommends: that the Government replace the requirement for a single designated location for signing the recall petition with a requirement for multiple locations; that people with an existing postal vote should automatically be sent a postal signature sheet in the event of a recall petition; that constituents in Northern Ireland should have the same options for signing a recall petition as constituents elsewhere in the UK, rather than being restricted to signing by post
