Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Baba has clarified that the word vidya used for this vahini (stream), means “that which (ya) illumines (vidh)”. It is this sense that is highlighted in expressions like Atma-vidya, Brahma-vidya, and even the name Vidyagiri (giri means hill or mountain) given to the campus of the Institute of Higher Learning at Prasanthi Nilayam. Baba makes us aware of the comparatively less beneficial lower learning, which deals with theories, inferences, concepts, conjectures, and constructions. The higher learning hastens and expands the universal urge to know and become truth, goodness, and beauty (sathyam, sivam, sundaram). Baba has come as Man among men on a self-imposed mission to correct the wrongs inflicted on mankind through the fanatically blind pursuit of lower learning. The human race has to voyage on an even keel; it is leaning too alarmingly toward the briny grave; the lower learning is lowering it into the bottomless pit. Only spiritual knowledge —that which illumines (vidya)— is the remedy. From His childhood days, Baba has stood forth as an educator, a guru, as the villagers loved to address Him. Without hesitation, He warned elders at Puttaparthi, teachers in the schools, and headmen of castes against cruelty to animals, exploitation of labour, usury, gambling, pedantry and illiteracy, hypocrisy, and pomp. Through quips and jests, parody and satire, songs and plays, the young teenaged teacher ridiculed and reformed society, which honoured or tolerated such evils. Through devotional songs (bhajans) sung in chorus by groups of men and women, He reminded them of the universal human values of truth, morality, peace, love, and nonviolence as early as 1943, when he was barely seventeen. These were the basic acquisitions that the Higher Learning (vidya) can confer on votaries. As Lord Krishna, He said to Arjuna, Among all the kinds of knowledge, I am the Atmic knowledge. Adhyaathma Vidhyaa, Vidhyaanaam. The world can be saved from suicide only through this Atmic knowledge. The search for truth and totality, for unity and purity, is the means; the awareness of the One is the consummation of the process. This message is the sum and substance of every discourse of His during the last five decades. This precious book provides us the chance to peruse nineteen essays that He wrote in answer to appeals for the elucidation of the principles that must guide us while rehabilitating education as an effective instrument for establishing peace and freedom in us and on Earth!

This book was released on 2022-11-11 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Started in 1958, Sanathana Sarathi is a monthly magazine devoted to Sathya (Truth), Dharma (Righteousness), Shanti (Peace) and Prema (Love) - the four cardinal principles of Bhagawan Baba's philosophy. It is published from Prasanthi Nilayam (the Abode of Highest Peace) and acts as a mouthpiece of Baba's Ashram as it speaks of the important events that take place in His sacred Abode, besides carrying Divine Messages conveyed through Divine Discourses of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The word meaning of Sanathana Sarathi is the 'Eternal Charioteer'. It signifies the presence of the Lord in every being as the atma guiding their lives like a charioteer. It implies that he who places his life, the body being likened to a chariot, in an attitude of surrender in the hands of the Lord, will be taken care of by the Lord even as a charioteer would take the occupant of his chariot safely to its destination. The magazine is an instrument to disseminate spiritual knowledge for the moral, physical and mental uplift of humanity without any discrimination as the subject matter discussed therein is always of common interest and of universal appeal. The fifteen Vahinis - streams of sacredness - known as the Vahini Series comprising annotation and interpretation of the Upanishads and other scriptures, Itihasas like the Ramayana, the Bhagavatha and the Mahabharata, and authentic explanations on Dhyana, Dharma, Prema, etc., have been serially published in this magazine as and when they emanated from the Divine pen of Bhagawan Baba. This magazine is published in almost all Indian languages, English and Telugu from Prasanthi Nilayam and others from respective regions. Every year Sanathana Sarathi comes out with a special issue in November commemorating the Divine Birthday. The English and Telugu magazines are posted on the 10th and 23rd respectively, of every month, from Prasanthi Nilayam. This magazine has wide, ever increasing circulation in India as well as abroad, as the study of it brings the reader closer to the philosophy of the Avatar in simple understandable language THUS SPAKE SAI... Discoursing during the launch of Sanathana Sarathi... From this day, our Sanathana Sarathi will lead to victory the cohorts of truth - the Vedas, the Sastras and similar scriptures of all faiths, against the forces of the ego such as injustice, falsehood, immorality and cruelty. This is the reason why it has emerged. This Sarathi will fight in order to establish world prosperity. It is bound to sound the paean of triumph when universal Ananda is achieved.

This book was released on 2015-05-01 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba wrote a series of articles under the Vahini series, for Sanathana Sarathi, a monthly magazine being published by Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust, Publications Division, Prasanthi Nilayam. These precious articles are brought out now, under the title “Geeta Vahini”, in this book, for the benefit of readers. This is not a commentary or summary of the divine message that was given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. It conveys the same message in a simpler form to us, in order to remove our delusion and confer faith and strength on us, so that we may realise our own reality. Bhagawan says, “Drawing on the Divine that is inherent in us is the lesson of Geeta… Arjuna is the jiva and Krishna is the Deva. When both are in contact, impregnable might results… Krishna had to work in and through Arjuna, so that the reign of Dharma (righteousness) is re-established. Arjuna means white, pure, unblemished. Hence, he is the proper instrument.” We too can become proper instruments in restoring Dharma, if we follow the lessons that Bhagawan teaches through this book.

One definitely cannot turn a blind eye to His magnificent work – tertiary healthcare systems, water projects, housing projects, and educational university, which are first-of-a-kind in world history. He has also inspired service activities around the globe with a footprint in over one hundred and fifty countries. He is definitely a social reformer, but He is also much more. His greatest work is the transformation of the heart, which He has effected through pure, selfless love. Once the source and nature of this Love is understood, one cannot help but call Him divine, adding the prefix ‘Bhagawan’ to His name. This book details the life experiences of eighteen students and teachers of Bhagawan’s educational system, which ranges from ‘KG to PG’ (kindergarten to post-graduation). This is just a sample of those that have received ‘Higher’ learning from their Swami – a learning for life. But, this sample will give us a glimpse into what Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba stands for and what He exhorts. It will make it amply clear that it is never too early, or too late to embark on the greatest quest of life – Educare.

Book The Hagiographer and the Avatar

Download or read book The Hagiographer and the Avatar written by Antonio Rigopoulos and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2021-04-01 with total page 595 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this biographical study, Antonio Rigopoulos explores the fundamental role of a hagiographer within a charismatic religious movement: in this case, the postsectarian, cosmopolitan community of the Indian guru Sathya Sai Baba. The guru's hagiographer, Narayan Kasturi, was already a distinguished litterateur by the time he first met Sathya Sai Baba in 1948. The two lived together at the guru's hermitage more or less continuously from 1954 up until Kasturi's death, in 1987. Despite Kasturi's influential hagiography, Sathyam Sivam Sundaram, little scholarly attention has been paid to the hagiographer himself and his importance to the movement. In detailing Kasturi's relationship to Sathya Sai Baba, Rigopoulos emphasizes that the hagiographer's work was not subordinate to the guru's definition of himself. Rather, his discourses with the holy man had a reciprocal and reinforcing influence, resulting in the construction of a unified canon. Furthermore, Kasturi's ability to perform a variety of functions as a hagiographer successfully mediated the relationship between the guru and his followers. Drawing on years of research on the movement as well as interviews with Kasturi himself, this book deepens our understanding of this important pan-Indian figure and his charismatic religious movement.

This book was released on 2015-03-03 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a discourse on 22nd April, 1998, in the hills of Kodaikanal, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba made a revelation about an aspect of God. “The photographer asks you to be ready when he snaps your picture and he gives you time to ready yourself. But, the Divine Cameraman will not give you any notice. You should always be ready to meet the situation. If you engage yourself in bhajan and daivachintanam (thinking of God) – keerthanam and smaranam (singing and remembrance) – you will not be caught unawares.” The Divine Cameraman wants us to appreciate and love His uncertainty. The prerequisite for seeking the Lord who is ever compassionate is to be ever ready and that is something that the author realized as he graduated from Swami’s educational wing into His service wing. One has to be alert always, because things can ‘click’ at any time; there can be a ‘flash’ of inspiration during any hour of the day and though situations appear to have been captured in a ‘negative’ way, they can quickly be ‘developed’ into the ‘positive’ to fill one with beautiful memories. It was an honour, a privilege, and a boon from the highest heavens in fact, that Aravind got the chance to be His cameraman for a few years. However, that did not reverse the roles with respect to readiness. Aravind had to be alert at all times and be ready to “meet the situation” as Swami puts it. He confesses that he has not been alert all the while, but whenever he was alert and sincere, an experience with the Divine unfolded. This book is a collection of such moments – moments that arose at the most unexpected times and in the most beautiful ways to assure him that his Beloved Bhagawan always has him in His sight.

Download or read book How to Prevent Recession written by Satya Saurabh Khosla and published by Partridge Publishing Singapore. This book was released on 2015-05-20 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "...This is a very profound concept put in a very simple and beautiful format" as written in the Foreword by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. In October 2007, author Satya Saurabh Khosla's article predicting the recession was published in Business Times, Singapore. Millions suffered despite its accurate warning. While analysing this later, he felt that preventing a recession will help society more. How to Prevent Recession seeks to rely on ethics in the strategy used for life and work. Values are a 'Strategy for living life'. These are applied at work to prevent recession. If profit becomes the only purpose of life, it disturbs the framework which sustains society. How to Prevent Recession uses the ancient framework of four goals of life. It applies these goals to business from a strategy of life. This book compares profit to the speed of a car. If personal and firm's profit is only maximised brakes are forgotten. Management Ideas given by Porter state that strategy is an 'optimisation effort'. Profit, too, should result from it. A car's speed is optimised when it considers criteria like bad roads to avoid jerks for passengers, fuel efficiency and reducing speed to prevent a crash. Ancient wisdom trains the human mind. Then, the Truth about optimum strategy emerges from within, as we drive the car of life to work. Strategy is a way of achieving a goal. So, ancient Indian wisdom of four goals of life are like a car's four wheels. An 'optimisation effort' balances the pressure. The wisdom of using righteous conduct prevents recession. "The book makes the important point that any business strategy should emerge from a conception of a decent life rooted in spirituality." Pradip Khandwalla, former Director, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. "Excellent work. Brilliant in its integration of ancient Indian Truths with the concept of mangement" Prof P.N. Sharma, Member, Governing Body, Library of Tibetan Works & Archives.
