This book was released on 2012 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Victorian Government has developed a strengthened Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework 2013 - 2018 (VAAF) to bring together Government and Aboriginal community commitments and efforts and create a better future for Victoria's Aboriginal population. The VAAF was released on 22 November 2012. Significantly the VAAF recognises and values Aboriginal culture, integrates Government effort, and identifies the accountabilities of Government departments, agencies and funded service providers. This will enable more effective monitoring and evaluation of performance. The VAAF focuses effort and resources on six Strategic Action Areas that are central to closing the gap in Aboriginal disadvantage. Through the VAAF the Government is committing to 12 headline indicators with achievable targets. Key priorities are also identified for improved Government effort and reform in Aboriginal affairs: Building prosperity through economic participation; Protecting and supporting vulnerable children and families; and Ensuring access to services that meet the needs of Aboriginal people across the State. The VAAF recognises that by working together strategically and through sustained and long term collaboration, Government, Aboriginal people and organisations, service providers and the private sector, can deliver improved outcomes for Aboriginal people over the long term."--Website summary.

Book excerpt: The Victorian government has a bipartisan commitment to closing the gap on Aboriginal disadvantage in the State. This report outlines progress against the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework 2013-2018 (VAAF). The report indicates mixed progress, and illustrates that closing the gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Victorians requires a long-term commitment and a strong and productive partnership between the Government, Aboriginal people and the wider Victorian community. The report identifies concerns in areas such as child protection substantiations, smoking and over-representation in the justice system. [Executive summary, ed]

Book An Historical Geography of Tourism in Victoria Australia

Download or read book An Historical Geography of Tourism in Victoria Australia written by Ian Clark and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Historical Geography of Tourism in Victoria, Australia – Case studies is concerned with the emergence of tourism in colonial Victoria, Australia. It explores a fundamental set of questions: how does a tourist site come in to being? How does a tourist gaze emerge in a ‘settler society’? How does an ‘era of discovery’ segue into ‘tourism’? And, how was the tourist map of Victoria created by settler colonists? Through the application of the classical models of MacCannell, Butler, and Gunn to construct the history of tourism at eight case studies, this work shows that Victoria’s tourism landscape is dynamic and constantly changing. There are many other significant natural and cultural attractions in Victoria and much more research needs to be undertaken to understand more fully the evolution of Victoria’s tourism landscape.
