Download or read book Geology and Mineral Resources of the Cowichan Lake Sheet Vancouver Island written by Nicholas William David Massey and published by British Columbia, Geological Survey. This book was released on 1995 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Cowichan Lake area lies at the southeastern end of the Vancouver Island Ranges and is characterized by fairly rugged topography accentuated by glaciation. The area is divided into two regions of differing structural style by a major thrust fault running along Cowichan Lake. This report introduces the geological setting of the areas and describes its lithology and stratigraphy, structure and tectonics from the Late Devonian to the Eocene, and the metamorphism and alteration of the area's sedimentary and igneous formations. The final section of the report reviews the history of mineral exploration in the area, outlines the regional metallogeny, and classifies the mineral deposits found in the area. The appendices include tabulated data, descriptions of mineral occurrences and fossils, and a summary of assessment report work recorded within the area.

This book was released on 1995 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Alberni-Nanaimo Lakes area lies at the southeastern end of the Vancouver Island Ranges and is characterized by fairly rugged topography accentuated by glaciation. The area covers one of a series of major geanticlinal structures constituting the structural fabric of the Wrangellia terrane of Vancouver Island. This report introduces the geological setting of the Alberni-Nanaimo Lakes area and describes its lithology and stratigraphy, geologic structure and tectonics from the Late Devonian to the Eocene, and metamorphism and alteration in the area's sedimentary and igneous formations. The final chapter reviews the history of mineral exploration in the area, outlines the regional metallogeny, and classifies the types of mineral deposit present in the area. The appendices contain tabulated data, descriptions of mineral occurrences and fossils, and a summary of assessment report work recorded within the area.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the physical aspects of the sea as exemplified by the Pacific Ocean and the contiguous waters of the British Columbia coast. Although principally devoted to waves, currents and tides, the book spans a broad spectrum of topics ranging from meteorology and marine biology to past and present marine geology. It attempts to elucidate the nature of oceanic motions and to relate them to everyday experience for the general interest of the casual reader and for the practical benefit of the professional mariner, scientist, or engineer.
Download or read book Geology of the Forrest Kerr Mess Creek Area Northwestern British Columbia NTS 104B 10 15 104G 2 7W written by James Metcalfe Logan and published by Government of British Columbia. This book was released on 2000 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Forrest Kerr-Mess Creek map area straddles the intermontane & coast belt boundary in north-west British Columbia. This report presents results of geological investigations undertaken to produce detailed maps & a database to better understand the geological setting of the area's mineral deposits and to aid in making new mineral discoveries. The introduction includes information on previous geological work in the area and on the regional geology. Chapter 2 describes the stratigraphy of the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and later formations. Chapter 3 covers the area's intrusive rocks, including plutonic suites, dikes, and other intrusions. Chapter 4 discusses geologic structure, including deformational history and faults. The final chapter examines the area's economic geology and includes descriptions of mineral occurrences of four types: porphyry, skarn, sub-volcanic vein, and stratiform.

This book was released on 1994 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sphaler Creek and Flood Glacier map areas comprise the Galore Creek area, located within the Coast Mountains between the Stikine River and Mess Creek. The large tonnage Galore Creek alkaline porphyry copper-gold-silver deposit is located within the area mapped. Results of regional mapping and sampling in 1988 are summarized in the report. This report and accompanying maps incorporates new data and revisions to the 1:50 000 geology and mineral occurrence map. The project was conducted to produce detailed geological maps and a database better able to understand the Galore Creek area and aid in making new discoveries.
