Book excerpt: CHAPTER THREE FEARS Have you ever found yourself convincing yourself why you should not embark on some new enterprise or another. How often do you do this, is it a habit with you. In other words you are not in the habit of always telling yourself why you should try a lot of new ventures, rather you do the opposite and worse still you even do it to your friends. You always discourage your friends from trying something new and you may not even know it seeing it has become such a part of you. Did you know this is based on your inner fears? Do not worry because we all have them and it is because so much garbage has been programmed into our lives over the years from our birth by society or by bad influence and it continues to happen everyday. It is reality for you when you have lived a certain experience, no one can tell you it did not happen when it happened to you. Let us look at an example of how our mind convinces us even when we may not be very conscious it is happening. Did you know that as real as something may seem to you, it may also be a lie in fact most of the time when there is no factual evidence to disprove it then it is a lie and we buy into this lie. You had an opportunity to get involved with a jewelry business. You are excited about it because of the manner it was presented to you. Then your mind goes to work on you (fear) you begin to see yourself having to wear this jewelry as part of your advertising. You know the compliments you have received on how beautiful they wear on you especially how you accessorize with them so you are now getting used to this life style and feel you should keep most of what you should be selling...it is not free. So your mind is telling you at this point of how much money you are loosing while selling this jewelry. It tells you how much you have purchased for yourself and how much you have actually sold. Mind you, you have not yet started this business but it has been presented to you and you do love it because you love jewelry. Now having rehearsed allthe above scenario in your mind you have convinced yourself why you should not even try it much less do it. Then your mind reminds you of the last thing you sold (coffee) real gourmet coffee. You drank so much coffee with your family and ended up with even much more in your pantry. Most parties you got invited to, you would take coffee as your party gift. You made a little sale but somehow it did not go quite as you anticipated to your dismay. At some point your friends stopped inviting you to their parties so you would stop giving them your gift of gourmet coffee. It was disaster and you do not plan on trying it again. Wow! If I were your friend or you I am convinced already, I will certainly not try it. But think about the word TRY. How convincing is that word. TRY is a word we often use when we are not sure of something so we say I will TRY. But we do not feel strongly about it so we should really not bother at all till we are convinced it is something we want to do. It is much more affirmative when we say I will DO this or that. From the get go we are convinced it is something we like and are willing to put our all into it. There is no FEAR there. This is exactly how quickly we buy into lies as a result of the fears we harbor and I will go into it later on in this chapter to talk to you about the root cause of FEAR. As soon as you recognize it you will be delivered from it through a simple prayer. Let us look at Amy and Pam two good friends in their 5th grade both 11years old. It is the beginning of summer and their families were both planning summer vacation, but they will be driving to their location out of state to see wonderful sites and have a great family time and some adventure too. Both Amy and Pam decided they wanted to make some vacation money so they can spend it on shopping for their friends and themselves in buying souvenirs and some memorabilia they can show off for having had a great summer. They knew their pocke

Book Underground Overground

  • Author : Andrew Martin
  • Publisher : Profile Books
  • Release : 2012-04-26
  • ISBN : 1847658075
  • Pages : 320 pages

Download or read book Underground Overground written by Andrew Martin and published by Profile Books. This book was released on 2012-04-26 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why is the Victoria Line so hot? What is an Electrical Multiple Unit? Is it really possible to ride from King's Cross to King's Cross on the Circle line? The London Underground is the oldest, most sprawling and illogical metropolitan transport system in the world, the result of a series of botch-jobs and improvisations.Yet it transports over one billion passengers every year - and this figure is rising. It is iconic, recognised the world over, and loved and despised by Londoners in equal measure. Blending reportage, humour and personal encounters, Andrew Martin embarks on a wonderfully engaging social history of London's underground railway system (which despite its name, is in fact fifty-five per cent overground). Underground, Overground is a highly enjoyable, witty and informative history of everything you need to know about the Tube.

Book The Little Book of the London Underground

Download or read book The Little Book of the London Underground written by David Long and published by The History Press. This book was released on 2010-12-26 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did You Know? In 1884 the Circle Line opened and was described in The Times as ‘a form of mild torture which no person would undergo if he could conveniently help it.’ According to one psychologist, Tube commuters can experience greater levels of stress than a police officer facing a rioting mob or even a fighter pilot going into a dogfight. Underground trains have only twice been used to transport deceased people in coffins: William Gladstone and Dr Barnardo. Some of the most bizarre items handed in to lost property include 250lb of sultanas, a 14ft canoe, a child’s garden slide, a harpoon gun, a pith helmet, an artificial leg, someone’s brother’s ashes and a sealed box containing three dead bats. WITH well over a billion passengers a year, more than 250 miles of track, literally hundreds of different stations and a history stretching back at least 160 years, the world’s oldest underground railway might seem familiar, but how well do you actually know it? This book offers a feast of Tube-based trivia for travellers and lovers of London alike.

Book The London Underground Serial Killer

Download or read book The London Underground Serial Killer written by Geoff Platt and published by Wharncliffe. This book was released on 2015-04-30 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story is now thirty years old and most, if not all, of the characters involved were middle aged men at the time and are now dead. The story did make the national press when it first occurred. A murder in a Police Station is big news and something to beat the Police with. However, when it was found that 12 people had been pushed under underground trains in London by a man that they did not know, the government felt that it might lead to mass hysteria and put a lid on the story with the press. The officers involved were a small, select, cadre of elite Flying Squad and Serious Crime Squad officers from South London, the same ones who had been dealing with the Krays, Richardsons, Brinks Mat etc. Their methods were unorthodox and recorded in the best selling "Untouchables" book. They were several extreme and unusual and certainly unorthodox, tactics. Officers kidnapped senior Home Office officials and detained them until the Old Bailey judge issued a summons and threatened a warrant in 5 minutes. At the committal the judge, prosecution, defence and everybody had to step over the start witness and he vomitted on the judge's shoes. Witnesses being murdered. Other witnesses being locked up it secret cells to protect them from being murdered. The Attorney General was satisfied that there was convincing evidence of all 16 murders that Kelly admitted. He was in prison for thirty years with only one or two days between sentences and all the murders co-incided with his absences from prison and before his next arrest. When protected by Police, most had been witnessed. In 12 cases Kelly had presented himself to Police as a star witness who had been talking to the poor depressed man about his unfaithful wife when the train arrived at the station and he jumped underneath it. The widow eventually lost her husband, her reputation, when kelly's story was told to the coroner, and her insurance money, when the death was ruled to be suicide. The A.G. authorised five murders to be charged, and instructed that prosecutions were to be discontinued and the remaining charges left on file as soon as two convictions were secured, as further prosecutions would not be in the public interest, due to their expence.
