Book excerpt: A mercilessly agonizing memory can sometimes break a person and render them incapable of facing even the commonplace without being unnerved. Sometimes it can endow a person with near superhuman ability to take action in any circumstance. You are in for a treat from The Queen of New Pulp Adventure! Vic Challenger always delivers fast-paced action, unpredictable adventure and adrenaline pumping fun! Vic’s novels are not like anything you’ve read lately. They are imaginative, prototypical tales like a clever friend might share over coffee and will enthrall you in unaccustomed ways, then compel you to search for more! Visiting Africa in 1919, Vic brushes shoulders with death on more than one occasion and everyone around her concludes she is uncannily calm and proficient in the face of the most horrible threats. Vic understands their awe but to her it is second nature. She seems to have been born with the facility for adventure, yet when she turned thirteen her skills did magnify and that’s when the eerie dreams began - dreams so vivid that she would wake with her body feeling their impact. She still had those dreams when she visited Africa and there nature conspired to solve their mystery. Yet the solution was not a conclusion but a beginning. It evoked a monumental quest which might take a lifetime and would likely lead Vic into every dangerous corner of Earth. The first hurdle was to simply design a plan to make the quest successful and Vic had no ideas. How was she going to find something she lost - on the day she died, 100,000 years ago? Begin the adventure! Discover the secret of Vic’s dreams and find out how Vic will search. Attempt to survive the wild Yucatan jungles of the 1920’s and learn the truth about thunderbirds. Book excerpt: How did an angel enter Victor Wolfs life? The answer was simpleat the hockey rink when a little schoolteacher asked a favor of him: to bring her the head of a poisonous snake when he went snake hunting. She didnt look like an angel. The deep discolored circles under her eyes reminded the coach of a raccoon. She looked as though she hadnt had a good nights sleep in a while. The tough hockey coach didnt look much better. He also had circles that everyone said were from too much nightlife. They each had their dark secrets. Jr.s Angel intertwines the coach and the teacher as they reveal details of their pasts. The coach played a chess game with God for much of his life. As the game neared its end, the coach realized that God would always be the Winner. As though to make amends, God sent him the only woman Victor Wolf ever really loved. The file cabinet is nearly empty, although a few notes remain. Now I had begun to store my notes that covered twenty years of my life and adventures with my husband. As I filed some papers, I came across a book by one of Vics favorite authors, Ernest Hemingway. Hidden inside was a quote by Hemingway, Every mans life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another. This folded scrap of paper held a clue to Vics philosophy. Vic loved Hemingway because the man wrote about how he had experienced life. Vic knew the best fiction had to be based upon reality and experience. Vics notes and writings revealed how he lived life. But his life held sorrow and disappointment, until he met the woman who introduced him to the concept of love. Vics story had left many unanswered questions. This book fills in the missing gaps of many characters. Jr.s Angel is a tribute to love, a word that a tough guy couldnt speak until he fell under the influence of a little schoolteacher who had been abused and put in a corner. She survived somehow. Once she met the tough guy, she flourished. The two found each other: warrior and angel. Unselfish love and dedication allowed each to thrive. He became her true love and hero; she became his angel on this earth.

The new owner has some interesting ideas. Voluntary simplicity will rule in the Transcendent State; Walden is destined to become a paradise covered in lush new forests. Walden's only hope may lie with a third option: a very unlikely alien intervention. Book excerpt: I always thought when the apocalypse finally began I would be swinging my baseball bat at the zombies with the best of them. I was prepped and ready to smash in some undead heads if the need ever arose. The problem is—no one ever warned me that I would have to dread the humans even more. The ones who still remember their names and how to put a gun to your temple when they want something. Do not fear the Withered Ones. Fear the ones still human. This is an omnibus edition featuring the first three books in The Withered series: Wither, Resurrect and Affliction. Wither After an epidemic swept across the nation, the government foolishly rushed the creation of a vaccine—but what was meant to bring salvation instead brought damnation. Human mutations birthed a new species, but Avery Whitlock soon learned that the top threat against her survival was not the Withered Ones—but the ones still human. Resurrect After enduring a kidnapping, brutal gang attacks and the death of the man she loved, Avery Whitlock believed she could survive anything—until she discovered that she was being hunted. The Withered had mutated and she had reason to believe that evolution couldn’t be stopped—especially when it was genetically engineered. Affliction No longer fully human, but unwilling to accept her fate as a flesh-eating zombie, Avery Whitlock abandoned the only place she could call home in order to save the man she loved from herself. Driven to prevent anyone else from suffering her fate, she stalked the doctor's responsible for the mutations—but with each life she took, her cravings amplified and her grip on humanity slipped.
