This book was released on 2021-11-28 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the dynamic analysis of rigid-flexible robots and multibody systems with serial as well as closed-loop architecture. The book presents a formulation of dynamic model of rigid-flexible robots based on the unique approach of de-coupling of natural orthogonal complements of velocity constraints. Based on this formulation, a computationally efficient and numerically stable forward dynamics algorithms for serial-chain and closed-loop robotic systems with rigid or flexible or rigid-flexible links is presented. The proposed algorithm is shown to be a numerically efficient for forward dynamics based on the investigation methodologies built on eigen value analytics. Precision and functionality of the simulation algorithms is presented/illustrated with application on different serial and closed-loop systems (both planar and spatial types). Some of the major robotic arms used to illustrate the proposed dynamic formulation and simulation algorithms are PUMA robot, Stanford robot arm, and Canadarm. It is envisaged that the book will be useful for researchers working on the development of rigid-flexible robots for use in defense, space, atomic energy, ocean exploration, and the manufacturing of biomedical equipment.

Book Motion and Vibration Control

Download or read book Motion and Vibration Control written by Heinz Ulbrich and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-12-23 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motion and vibration control is a fundamental technology for the development of advanced mechanical systems such as mechatronics, vehicle systems, robots, spacecraft, and rotating machinery. Often the implementation of high performance, low power consumption designs is only possible with the use of this technology. It is also vital to the mitigation of natural hazards for large structures such as high-rise buildings and tall bridges, and to the application of flexible structures such as space stations and satellites. Recent innovations in relevant hardware, sensors, actuators, and software have facilitated new research in this area. This book deals with the interdisciplinary aspects of emerging technologies of motion and vibration control for mechanical, civil and aerospace systems. It covers a broad range of applications (e.g. vehicle dynamics, actuators, rotor dynamics, biologically inspired mechanics, humanoid robot dynamics and control, etc.) and also provides advances in the field of fundamental research e.g. control of fluid/structure integration, nonlinear control theory, etc. Each of the contributors is a recognised specialist in his field, and this gives the book relevance and authority in a wide range of areas.

Book Dynamics and Balancing of Multibody Systems

Download or read book Dynamics and Balancing of Multibody Systems written by Himanshu Chaudhary and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-09-27 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has evolved from the passionate desire of the authors in using the modern concepts of multibody dynamics for the design improvement of the machineries used in the rural sectors of India and The World. In this connection, the first author took up his doctoral research in 2003 whose findings have resulted in this book. It is expected that such developments will lead to a new research direction MuDRA, an acronym given by the authors to “Multibody Dynamics for Rural Applications. ” The way Mu- DRA is pronounced it means ‘money’ in many Indian languages. It is hoped that practicing MuDRA will save or generate money for the rural people either by saving energy consumption of their machines or making their products cheaper to manufacture, hence, generating more money for their livelihood. In this book, the initial focus was to improve the dynamic behavior of carpet scrapping machines used to wash newly woven hand-knotted c- pets of India. However, the concepts and methodologies presented in the book are equally applicable to non-rural machineries, be they robots or - tomobiles or something else. The dynamic modeling used in this book to compute the inertia-induced and constraint forces for the carpet scrapping machine is based on the concept of the decoupled natural orthogonal c- plement (DeNOC) matrices. The concept is originally proposed by the second author for the dynamics modeling and simulation of serial and - rallel-type multibody systems, e. g.

Book Dynamics of Parallel Robots

Download or read book Dynamics of Parallel Robots written by Sébastien Briot and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-06-22 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book starts with a short recapitulation on basic concepts, common to any types of robots (serial, tree structure, parallel, etc.), that are also necessary for computation of the dynamic models of parallel robots. Then, as dynamics requires the use of geometry and kinematics, the general equations of geometric and kinematic models of parallel robots are given. After, it is explained that parallel robot dynamic models can be obtained by decomposing the real robot into two virtual systems: a tree-structure robot (equivalent to the robot legs for which all joints would be actuated) plus a free body corresponding to the platform. Thus, the dynamics of rigid tree-structure robots is analyzed and algorithms to obtain their dynamic models in the most compact form are given. The dynamic model of the real rigid parallel robot is obtained by closing the loops through the use of the Lagrange multipliers. The problem of the dynamic model degeneracy near singularities is treated and optimal trajectory planning for crossing singularities is proposed. Lastly, the approach is extended to flexible parallel robots and the algorithms for computing their symbolic model in the most compact form are given. All theoretical developments are validated through experiments.

Book Dynamics of Robots with Contact Tasks

Download or read book Dynamics of Robots with Contact Tasks written by M. Vukobratovic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-11-30 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As robots are becoming more and more sophisticated the interest in robot dynamics is increasing. Within this field, contact problems are among the most interesting, since contacts are present in almost any robot task and introduce serious complexity to system dynamics, strongly influencing robot behavior. The book formulates dynamic models of robot interaction with different kinds of environment, from pure geometrical constraints to complex dynamic environments. It provides a number of examples. Dynamic modeling is the primary interest of the book but control issues are treated as well. Because dynamics and contact control tasks are strongly related the authors also provide a brief description of relevant control issues. The book will be of interest to engineers working in research and development in robotics and automation and to both graduate and postgraduate students. The work will also be valuable to readers involved in manufacturing, robotics, automation, computer and control engineering.

Book 3D Motion of Rigid Bodies

Download or read book 3D Motion of Rigid Bodies written by Ernesto Olguín Díaz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-06 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an excellent complementary text for an advanced course on the modelling and dynamic analysis of multi-body mechanical systems, and provides readers an in-depth understanding of the modelling and control of robots. While the Lagrangian formulation is well suited to multi-body systems, its physical meaning becomes paradoxically complicated for single rigid bodies. Yet the most advanced numerical methods rely on the physics of these single rigid bodies, whose dynamic is then given among multiple formulations by the set of the Newton–Euler equations in any of their multiple expression forms. This book presents a range of simple tools to express in succinct form the dynamic equation for the motion of a single rigid body, either free motion (6-dimension), such as that of any free space navigation robot or constrained motion (less than 6-dimension), such as that of ground or surface vehicles. In the process, the book also explains the equivalences of (and differences between) the different formulations.

Book Computational Dynamics in Multibody Systems

Download or read book Computational Dynamics in Multibody Systems written by Manuel F.O. Seabra Pereira and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the edited version of selected papers presented at the Nato Advanced Study Institute on "Computer Aided Analysis of Rigid and Flexible Mechanical Systems", held in Portugal, from the 27 June to 9 July, 1994. The present volume can be viewed as a natural extension of the material addressed in the Institute which was published by KLUWER in the NATO ASI Series, Vol. 268, in 1994. The requirements for accurate and efficient analysis tools for design of large and lightweight mechanical systems has driven a strong interest in the challenging problem of multibody dynamics. The development of new analysis and design formulations for multi body systems has been more recently motivated with the need to include general features such as: real-time simulation capabilities, active control of machine flexibilities and advanced numerical methods related to time integration of the dynamic systems equations. In addition to the presentation of some basic formulations and methodologies in dynamics of multibody systems, including computational aspects, major applications of developments to date are presented herein. The scope of applications is extended to vehicle dynamics, aerospace technology, robotics, mechanisms design, intermittent motion and crashworthiness analysis. Several of these applications are explored by many contributors with a constant objective to pace development and improve the dynamic performance of mechanical systems avoiding different mechanical limitations and difficult functional requirements, such as, for example, accurate positioning of manipulators.

Book Essentials of Dynamics and Vibrations

Download or read book Essentials of Dynamics and Vibrations written by John Billingsley and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-06-16 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamic objects move in mysterious ways. Their analysis is a difficult subject involving matrices, differential equations and the complex algebra of oscillatory systems. However, in this textbook, the author draws on his long experience of designing autopilots, robots for nuclear inspection and agricultural machine guidance to present the essentials with a light touch. The emphasis is on a deep understanding of the fundamentals rather than rote-learning of techniques. The inertia tensor is presented as a key to understanding motion ranging from boomerangs to gyroscopes. Chains of transformations unravel the motion of a robot arm. To help the reader visualise motion, ranging from unbalanced rotors to vibrating systems with multiple modes and damping, there are abundant simulation examples on a linked website. These will run in any web browser, while their simple code is on open view for modification and experimentation. They show that nonlinear systems present no problems, so that friction damping can be modelled with ease. A particular problem for mechanical engineers is that the vibration topics encroach on the territory of the electrical engineer. State variables open up control theory while the solution of differential equations with sinusoidal inputs is simplified by an understanding of sine-waves as complex exponentials. The linked web site has several areas of mathematics revision to help. A final chapter pokes fun at the misrepresentation of dynamics in cinema productions.

Book Dynamics of Multibody Systems

Download or read book Dynamics of Multibody Systems written by Jens Wittenburg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-10-20 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thank heavens for Jens Wittenburg, of the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. Anyone who’s been laboring for years over equation after equation will want to give him a great big hug. It is common practice to develop equations for each system separately and to consider the labor necessary for deriving all of these as inevitable. Not so, says the author. Here, he takes it upon himself to describe in detail a formalism which substantially simplifies these tasks.
