Book excerpt: Devant le contexte actuel des crises environnementale et sociale, on ne peut que s'interroger sur la capacité du domaine de la conservation du patrimoine à intégrer les principes et les concepts liés au développement durable. Alors que plusieurs liens entre la conservation du patrimoine culturel et le développement durable existent, il devient nécessaire de solidifier cette union. Réalisée en amont du projet de conservation, l'évaluation patrimoniale basée sur l'approche par les valeurs permet d'établir la signification d'un lieu selon les valeurs qui lui sont associées. Il y a cependant lieu de se questionner : au-delà des valeurs historiques, esthétiques ou architecturales traditionnellement attribuées au patrimoine bâti, quel intérêt accorde-t-on aux dimensions environnementales, économiques et sociales? Le postulat de ce mémoire est qu'il est essentiel d'élargir l'évaluation patrimoniale afin d'y intégrer de nouvelles valeurs liées au développement durable. Nous nous proposons d'étudier la faisabilité de ceci en élaborant un modèle d'évaluation patrimoniale basé sur une approche par les valeurs qui prend en compte l'ensemble des valeurs inhérentes au patrimoine bâti, c'est-à-dire les aspects culturels, sociaux, économiques et environnementaux. Cette proposition se traduit en une grille d'évaluation qui comporte ces dimensions. Afin de confronter notre hypothèse au réel, nous procéderons à une étude de cas : le Silo no.5 situé dans le Vieux-Port de Montréal. Aux termes de cette recherche, nous estimons être en mesure d'identifier les limites de notre expérimentation et de déterminer ce qui pourrait être fait pour contribuer aux efforts en conservation. Il nous apparaît que les recherches effectuées dans le cadre de ce mémoire sont susceptibles d'intéresser toute personne oeuvrant dans le domaine de la conservation du patrimoine.

In 2019, these questions were the subject of many heated debates at the 34th General Assembly of ICOM in Kyoto, which intended to propose a new definition of the museum. As the representations of the tensions between Universalist and Communitarian approaches are not only largely dependent on the historical and socio-political contexts of the various countries concerned, a generational angle must also be considered. It thus seems totally anachronistic to try to defend a dichotomous vision that is far too simplistic. At the heart of these current events and international issues, this collective work studies, in an international context, the values, actions and discourses advocated for participating in processes such as collection, selection, conservation and interpretation of heritage elements linked to the territories, resources, knowledge and know-how of various communities. The analysis of the tensions and asymmetries of power between various groups of actors – politicians, managers, scientists, visitors, representatives of local or diasporic populations, among others – particularly in the context of decolonization policies of museums, is also a major part of this book.

A first part examines the concepts and their implications. The second part deals with the anthropology and typology of architectural production considered in relation to demography. The third part develops on the rhythms of the space production at Lyon from the late 15th century to the 19th. The temporalities and spatialities of the production are determined and examined. The agents of the production are studied all along the period, in parallel to the market aimed at: investors in real estate, tenants, activities. Each phenomenon identified can be described and understood as in the meantime a temporal, spatial and social unit.

Embargo, tutelle et occupation continus par des forces étrangères, élimination des Haïtiens, spoliation et sabotage du patrimoine national, tout concourt au retour à la barbarie (l’esclavage) par l’exploitation de notre sol et de nos massives mines ... Le péril n’est pas seulement contre Haïti! La construction d’un leadership national capable et humaniste s’impose.
