Book Effects of Pressure and Dielectric Constant on Sound Absorption in Magnesium Sulfate Solutions

Download or read book Effects of Pressure and Dielectric Constant on Sound Absorption in Magnesium Sulfate Solutions written by Frederick Hendrick Fisher and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The simple dissociation model proposed by Bies (J. Chem. Phys. 23:428, 1955) to explain acoustic absorption in MgSO4 solutions does not give a complete quantitative description of experimental results in aqueous and dioxane-water solvents at atmospheric pressure. An attempt was made to explore the reasons for the failure of Bies' theory by measuring acoustic absorption as a function of pressure in MgSO4 solutions with two values for the dielectric constant. At the high concentration used, 0.5 M, a change in the dielectric constant from D = 78.5 (water) to D = 56.5 (25% dioxane-water) was accompanied by negligible changes in the magnitude and pressure dependence of the absorption. This behavior, together with that observed by Bies at low concentrati ns and atmospheric pressure, is consistent with the existence of an intermediate reaction, before dissociation, which is responsible for acoustic absorption. Velocity as a function of pressure, and the relaxation frequency at atmospheric pressure, are given for the 25% dioxane-water solution. (Author).

Book Research Outlook Innovations Research Trends in Science Technology

Download or read book Research Outlook Innovations Research Trends in Science Technology written by Prof S S Rajput and published by Alborear (OPC) Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2020-10-25 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is focused predominantly on academicians, research scholars belong to science and engineering, managers, scientists, technicians, and other professionals in the field of qualitative research. This book is comprehended from different sources of research in Science and Technology. On the first occasion, the task of providing researchers with a broad view of the relationship between science and technology. The second reason for writing the book was the need to fill a gap in academics and research. While many excellent books, documents, and article exist for innovative practices, we have not found a work in which we can properly understand the content that the researcher needs to understand. So, after much deliberation, we decided to collect all quality efforts in one string. At the most basic level, this book is trying to show research scholars; what science, technology, and innovations are all about. It cannot study or gain knowledge of that part and is at a level that most researchers should find clear and understandable. Our goal was to develop content that will help researchers who are beginning to use innovative practices. We hope to meet the needs of academicians, research scholars who are being encouraged to incorporate more reading and writing in the field of science and technology. In summary, this book is targeted to the needs of individuals engaged in quality research activities in science and technology. Our goal is to present the topics of creativity and innovation to this audience in a way that enables them to incorporate new skills into their daily work. We would like to thank all the contributors who have made the production of this book so fascinating and enjoyable. Their scholarship and dedicated commitment and motivation to ‘getting it right’ are the keys to the book’s quality, and we greatly appreciate their good nature over many months in the face of our editorial demands and time limits. We are also grateful for using their texts, ideas, and critical remarks We would also like to thank Prof Dr Nilam N Ghuge, Prof Dr D Ayub Khan Dawood, Prof Dr Vilas A Pharande, all reviewers and all authors for their help in consolidating the interdisciplinary of the book. We are grateful to all the 18 institutions for their support. It will not be possible to bring out this edition.

Book Progress in Physical Organic Chemistry

Download or read book Progress in Physical Organic Chemistry written by Andrew Streitwieser and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-09-17 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Physical Organic Chemistry is dedicated to reviewing the latest investigations into organic chemistry that use quantitative and mathematical methods. These reviews help readers understand the importance of individual discoveries and what they mean to the field as a whole. Moreover, the authors, leading experts in their fields, offer unique and thought-provoking perspectives on the current state of the science and its future directions. With so many new findings published in a broad range of journals, Progress in Physical Organic Chemistry fills the need for a central resource that presents, analyzes, and contextualizes the major advances in the field. The articles published in Progress in Physical Organic Chemistry are not only of interest to scientists working in physical organic chemistry, but also scientists working in the many subdisciplines of chemistry in which physical organic chemistry approaches are now applied, such as biochemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, and materials and polymer science. Among the topics explored in this series are reaction mechanisms; reactive intermediates; combinatorial strategies; novel structures; spectroscopy; chemistry at interfaces; stereochemistry; conformational analysis; quantum chemical studies; structure-reactivity relationships; solvent, isotope and solid-state effects; long-lived charged, sextet or open-shell species; magnetic, non-linear optical and conducting molecules; and molecular recognition.

Book Absorption and Dispersion of Ultrasonic Waves

Download or read book Absorption and Dispersion of Ultrasonic Waves written by Karl F. Herzfeld and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 554 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Absorption and Dispersion of Ultrasonic Waves focuses on the influence of ultrasonics on molecular processes in liquids and gases, including hydrodynamics, energy exchange, and chemical reactions. The book first offers information on the Stokes-Navier equations of hydrodynamics, as well as equations of motion, viscosity, formal introduction of volume viscosity, and linearized wave equation for a nonviscous fluid. The manuscript then ponders on energy exchange between internal and external degrees of freedom as relaxation phenomenon; effect of slow energy exchange on sound propagation; different ways of evaluating the dispersion curve; and exact calculation of absorption and dispersion. The text examines the effects of chemical reactions, thermodynamic theory of relaxation, and mixtures. The book also evaluates the absorption of high intensity sound waves, ratio of relaxation absorption to classical absorption at maximum, and gas mixtures. Discussions also focus on translational relaxation in monatomic gases, linear triatomic molecules, and results for rotational relaxation. The manuscript is a dependable source of data for readers interested in the absorption and dispersion of ultrasonic waves.
