Book Models to Estimate Vehicle Trip Ends Generated by Airports

Download or read book Models to Estimate Vehicle Trip Ends Generated by Airports written by Venkata Ramana Duddu and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The growth in population and economy over the past few decades has had a direct impact on the airline industry. While airfield delay and associated congestion cost is a growing concern, accessibility and delays to vehicular traffic on roads leading to airport is another major problem. Estimates of airport vehicle trip ends help study the profound effect of traffic generated by an airport on road infrastructure near the airport. The most current edition of Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Trip Generation Manual provides equations to estimate airport vehicle trip ends using data from 3 commercial airports. These estimates are based on the number of employees or airline operations. While data from 3 airports is not a statistically significant sample size, factors such as the number of passengers served by the airport, cargo in tons, population of the region, numbers of employees, presence of large scale transit systems, percent of connecting passengers, and number of parking spaces occupied, which may have an impact on the number of vehicle trip ends generated by airports, were not considered. Attempts are made collect these data elements for 27 commercial airports to develop models considering each individual variable separately in each model (bivariate analysis) and more than one variable in the model (multivariate analysis) and assess their applicability based on statistical parameters to estimate airport vehicle trips ends.

Book Long distance and Rural Travel Transferable Parameters for Statewide Travel Forecasting Models

Download or read book Long distance and Rural Travel Transferable Parameters for Statewide Travel Forecasting Models written by Robert G. Schiffer and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 2012 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 735: Long-Distance and Rural Travel Transferable Parameters for Statewide Travel Forecasting Models explores transferable parameters for long-distance and rural trip-making for statewide models. Appendixes G, H, and I are not contained in print or PDF versions of the report but are available online. Appendix G presents a series of rural typology variables considered in stratifying model parameters and benchmarks and identifies the statistical significance of each. Appendix H contains rural trip production rates for several different cross-classification schemes and the trip rates associated with each. Finally, Appendix I provides additional information on auto occupancy rates."--Publisher's description.

Book Incorporating Feedback in Travel Forecasting

Download or read book Incorporating Feedback in Travel Forecasting written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most common method for producing regional or metropolitan area travel forecasts in the United States is to apply the following four modeling steps sequentially: trip generation; trip distribution; mode choice; and, route assignment. This traditional 4-step process passes output from one step to the next as input. While the process has produced forecast results sufficiently accurate for many types of long range transportation planning, it is commonly found that some of the outputs of the process are not consistent with inputs to earlier steps. The research undertaken in this project focused on methods to ensure that link speeds used in each step of the travel forecasting process are consistent with the final speeds estimated in the final step of the process. As a product of this research, a final report was prepared to provide guidance in the application of feedback.

Book Highway Travel Forecasts

Download or read book Highway Travel Forecasts written by United States. Federal Highway Administration and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An in-house study to reevaluate national highway travel forecasts in light of such factors as declining birth rates, possible saturation of vehicle ownership, and fuel constraints. Results indicate that highway travel is expected to increase at an annual compound rate of 2 to 3 percent per year to 1990 as compared to an annual growth of 4.6 percent for the past 20 years.
