Book Environmental Testing Techniques for Electronics and Materials

Download or read book Environmental Testing Techniques for Electronics and Materials written by Geoffrey W. A. Dummer and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Environmental Testing Techniques for Electronics and Materials reviews environmental testing techniques for evaluating the performance of electronic equipment, components, and materials. Environmental test planning, test methods, and instrumentation are described, along with the general environmental conditions under which equipment must operate. This book is comprised of 15 chapters and begins by explaining why environmental testing is necessary and describing the environment in which electronics must operate. The next chapter considers how an environmental test plan is designed; the methods for the environmental testing of components and materials; instrumentation and control of test chambers; shock and vibration test instrumentation; and requirements for specification writing. The reader is then introduced to factors that might affect the reliability of equipment, including high humidity environment; galvanic corrosion problems; high- and low-temperature environments; mechanical and associated hazards; transport hazards; and long-term storage. Problems posed by high altitude and space environments, nuclear radiation, and acoustic noise are also discussed. The final chapter is devoted to environmental protection techniques and looks at the effects of climatic environments on radio interference as well as the effects of the environment on the human operator. This monograph will be of value to materials scientists and electronics engineers as well as those engaged in the design, development, and production of professional and military equipment.

Book Developments in Lubricant Technology

Download or read book Developments in Lubricant Technology written by S. P. Srivastava and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-08-25 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DEVELOPMENTS IN LUBRICANT TECHNOLOGY Examines all stages of Lubricant formulations, production and applications Developments in Lubricant Technology describes the basics of Lubricant formulations and their application in variety of equipment and engines. Divided into twenty chapters, this book provides an introduction to lubricant technology for users, young scientists and engineers desirous of understanding this subject. The book covers all major classes of lubricants including base oils (mineral, chemically modified and synthetic), followed by the description of chemical- additives and their evaluation. A brief chapter on the friction-wear and lubrication has been provided to understand the behaviour of lubricants in equipment. Major industrial oils such as turbine, hydraulic, gear, compressor and metal working fluids have been described. Automotive engine, gear and transmission oils for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, rail-road, marine, natural gas engines and 2T, 4T small engines have been discussed at length with latest specifications and global trends. Various synthetic oils and environmentally friendly products have also been described in the relevant chapters to understand the critical applications of such products in modern equipment and engines. Finally lubricants blending technology, quality control, their storage, handling, re-refining and condition monitoring in equipment have been discussed along with the typical lubricant tests and their significance.

Book Assessing Cleanliness of Hydraulic Fluid Power Components and Systems

Download or read book Assessing Cleanliness of Hydraulic Fluid Power Components and Systems written by CTTC C1, Hydraulic Systems and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To describe laboratory methods for determining and reporting the contaminant level of the wetted portion of hydraulic fluid power components, parts, subsystems and systems, and of fill fluids. For each type of item it provides a method of obtaining the liquid sample and the contamination level thereof. It also includes procedures for establishing a sampling plan and guidelines for establishing levels of acceptance, but does not set those levels. To provide a basis for measuring and reporting cleanliness levels so that built-in contamination and premature failures of hydraulic systems can minimized.

Book ROV 86 Remotely Operated Vehicles

Download or read book ROV 86 Remotely Operated Vehicles written by Robert L. Wernli and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is now an awareness within the industry, particularly as oil companies direct considerable resources towards developing diverless production systems, that a fully integrated approach to equipment design and intervention is necessary to achieve an acceptable system. The requirement for an integrated approach to equipment design and intervention is applicable not only to diverless depths but to all subsea structures, equipment and intervention techniques in whatever depth. Fortunately the inherent dexterity of the diver does not impact so severely on design as other intervention techniques. However the benefits of an integrated approach are still applicable and the use of such simple "diver aids" as cutting guides and subsea markings installed prior to the installation of jackets and subsea equipment can have a significant impact on the cost of intervention. This paper examines the requirements and limitations in designing subsea equipment for Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) intervention. For the oil company embarking on the development of a diverless production system, be it totally diverless because of the envisaged water depth or primarily diverless with the possibility of diver back up, the intervention techniques adopted will strongly influence the final system design. The necessity to undertake an extensive development programme to produce the optimum intervention system is very costly, requires long lead times and comprehensive testing particularly where novel solutions are adopted. It is a daunting prospect for even the most progressive of oil companies.

Book REPORTING CLEANLINESS LEVELS OF HYDRAULIC FLUIDS

Download or read book REPORTING CLEANLINESS LEVELS OF HYDRAULIC FLUIDS written by CTTC C1, Hydraulic Systems and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Recommended Practice has been formulated to advance and endorse the use of the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Solid Contaminant Code as the universal means for expressing the level of particulate contaminant in hydraulic fluid and for specifying acceptable limits of cleanliness. Worldwide approval was gained for this coding system because it provides a simple, unmistakable, meaningful, and consistent means of communication between suppliers and users. The code applies to all types of hydraulic (liquid) fluids used in fluid power and control systems.
