Book Applied Algebra Algebraic Algorithms and Error Correcting Codes

Download or read book Applied Algebra Algebraic Algorithms and Error Correcting Codes written by Gérard Cohen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1993-04-20 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Researchers may find themselves confronted with proteases, either because they play an essential role in a particular process they are studying, or because they interfere with that process. In either case they may need to investigate or inhibit the proteolytic activity. Others may wish to use proteolytic enzymes as laboratory tools. This book has been written with these investigators in mind and includes assay methods using natural and artificial substrates, genetic-based assays, and strategies for the inhibition, purification and crystallization of proteases. In selected chapters the use of proteolytic enzymes to analyze proteins, segregate cells or in peptide synthesis is covered.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Error Correcting Codes is an in-depth introduction to coding theory from both an engineering and mathematical viewpoint. As well as covering classical topics, there is much coverage of techniques which could only be found in specialist journals and book publications. Numerous exercises and examples and an accessible writing style make this a lucid and effective introduction to coding theory for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and engineers, whether approaching the subject from a mathematical, engineering or computer science background.

Book Applied Algebra Algebraic Algorithms and Error Correcting Codes

Download or read book Applied Algebra Algebraic Algorithms and Error Correcting Codes written by Serdar Boztas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-30 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The AAECC Symposia Series was started in 1983 by Alain Poli (Toulouse), who, together with R. Desq, D. Lazard, and P. Camion, organized the ?rst conference. Originally the acronym AAECC meant “Applied Algebra and Error-Correcting Codes”. Over the years its meaning has shifted to “Applied Algebra, Algebraic Algorithms, and Error-Correcting Codes”, re?ecting the growing importance of complexity in both decoding algorithms and computational algebra. AAECC aims to encourage cross-fertilization between algebraic methods and their applications in computing and communications. The algebraic orientation is towards ?nite ?elds, complexity, polynomials, and graphs. The applications orientation is towards both theoretical and practical error-correction coding, and, since AAECC 13 (Hawaii, 1999), towards cryptography. AAECC was the ?rst symposium with papers connecting Gr ̈obner bases with E-C codes. The balance between theoretical and practical is intended to shift regularly; at AAECC-14 the focus was on the theoretical side. The main subjects covered were: – Codes: iterative decoding, decoding methods, block codes, code construction. – Codes and algebra: algebraic curves, Gr ̈obner bases, and AG codes. – Algebra: rings and ?elds, polynomials. – Codes and combinatorics: graphs and matrices, designs, arithmetic. – Cryptography. – Computational algebra: algebraic algorithms. – Sequences for communications.

Book Polynomial Theory of Error Correcting Codes

Download or read book Polynomial Theory of Error Correcting Codes written by Giovanni Cancellieri and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-11-08 with total page 736 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book offers an original view on channel coding, based on a unitary approach to block and convolutional codes for error correction. It presents both new concepts and new families of codes. For example, lengthened and modified lengthened cyclic codes are introduced as a bridge towards time-invariant convolutional codes and their extension to time-varying versions. The novel families of codes include turbo codes and low-density parity check (LDPC) codes, the features of which are justified from the structural properties of the component codes. Design procedures for regular LDPC codes are proposed, supported by the presented theory. Quasi-cyclic LDPC codes, in block or convolutional form, represent one of the most original contributions of the book. The use of more than 100 examples allows the reader gradually to gain an understanding of the theory, and the provision of a list of more than 150 definitions, indexed at the end of the book, permits rapid location of sought information.

Book Fuzzy Filters for Image Processing

Download or read book Fuzzy Filters for Image Processing written by Mike Nachtegael and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-06-05 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ongoing increase in scale of integration of electronics makes storage and computational power affordable to many applications. Also image process ing systems can benefit from this trend. A variety of algorithms for image processing tasks becomes close at hand. From the whole range of possible approaches, those based on fuzzy logic are the ones this book focusses on. A particular useful property of fuzzy logic techniques is their ability to represent knowledge in a way which is comprehensible to human interpretation. The theory of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic was initiated in 1965 by Zadeh, and is one of the most developed models to treat imprecision and uncertainty. Instead of the classical approach that an object belongs or does not belong to a set, the concept of a fuzzy set allows a gradual transition from mem bership to nonmembership, providing partial degrees of membership. Fuzzy techniques are often complementary to existing techniques and can contribute to the development of better and more robust methods, as has already been illustrated in numerous scientific branches. The present book resulted from the workshop "Fuzzy Filters for Image Processing" which was organized at the 10th FUZZ-IEEE Conference in Mel bourne, Australia. At this event several speakers have given an overview of the current state-of-the-art of fuzzy filters for image processing. Afterwards, the book has been completed with contributions of other international re searchers.
