Book Proceedings of the International Conference on Vector on Parallel Processors in Computational Science 3rd Held in Liverpool United Kingdom on 25 28 August 1987 Parallel Computing Volume 8 Number 1 3 October 1988

Download or read book Proceedings of the International Conference on Vector on Parallel Processors in Computational Science 3rd Held in Liverpool United Kingdom on 25 28 August 1987 Parallel Computing Volume 8 Number 1 3 October 1988 written by L. M. Delves and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As with previous conferences in this series, papers presented covered a wide range of topics in parallel processing, from hardware, through language design, to algorithm design and implementation, portability issues across architectures, and, importantly, applications of parallel hardware and algorithms to engineering and scientific problems. A broad spread of the papers given appears here; one or two applications papers will appear in their relevant applications journals. A new feature was the presence of hardware displays; nearly all of the current major manufacturers of parallel systems had displays, and the computing power available during the week far outstripped that normally provided on the Liverpool campus. Keywords: Great Britain. (kr).

Book Computational Science ICCS 2004

Download or read book Computational Science ICCS 2004 written by Marian Bubak and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-05-12 with total page 1376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Conference on Computational Science (ICCS 2004) held in Krak ́ ow, Poland, June 6–9, 2004, was a follow-up to the highly successful ICCS 2003 held at two locations, in Melbourne, Australia and St. Petersburg, Russia; ICCS 2002 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands; and ICCS 2001 in San Francisco, USA. As computational science is still evolving in its quest for subjects of inves- gation and e?cient methods, ICCS 2004 was devised as a forum for scientists from mathematics and computer science, as the basic computing disciplines and application areas, interested in advanced computational methods for physics, chemistry, life sciences, engineering, arts and humanities, as well as computer system vendors and software developers. The main objective of this conference was to discuss problems and solutions in all areas, to identify new issues, to shape future directions of research, and to help users apply various advanced computational techniques. The event harvested recent developments in com- tationalgridsandnextgenerationcomputingsystems, tools, advancednumerical methods, data-driven systems, and novel application ?elds, such as complex - stems, ?nance, econo-physics and population evolution.

Book Vector and Parallel Processing VECPAR 2000

Download or read book Vector and Parallel Processing VECPAR 2000 written by Jose M.L.M. Palma and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-29 with total page 589 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the ?nal outcome of VECPAR 2000 – 4th International Meeting on Vector and Parallel Processing. VECPAR constitutes a series of conferences, which have been organized by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto since 1993, with the main objective of disseminating new knowledge on parallel computing. Readership of This Book The book is aimed at an audience of researchers and graduate students in a broad range of scienti?c areas, including not only computer science, but also applied mathematics and numerical analysis, physics, and engineering. Book Plan From a total of 66 papers selected on the basis of extended abstracts for p- sentation at the conference, a subset of 34 papers were chosen during a second review process leading to their inclusion in the book, together with the invited talks. The book contains a total of 40 papers organized into 6 chapters, where each may appeal to people in di?erent but still related scienti?c areas. All ch- ters, with the exception of Chapter 6, are initiated by a short text, providing a quick overview of the organization and papers in the chapter. The 13 papers in Chapter 1 cover the aspects related to the use of multiple processors. Operating systems, languages and software tools for scheduling, and code transformation are the topics included in this chapter, initiated by the talk on computing over the Internet, entitled Grid Computing,byIan Foster.

Download or read book Computational Science ICCS 2003 Part 3 written by Peter Sloot and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-05-22 with total page 1183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The four-volume set LNCS 2657, LNCS 2658, LNCS 2659, and LNCS 2660 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Conference on Computational Science, ICCS 2003, held concurrently in Melbourne, Australia and in St. Petersburg, Russia in June 2003. The four volumes present more than 460 reviewed contributed and invited papers and span the whole range of computational science, from foundational issues in computer science and algorithmic mathematics to advanced applications in virtually all application fields making use of computational techniques. These proceedings give a unique account of recent results in the field.

Book Parallel Evolution of Parallel Processors

Download or read book Parallel Evolution of Parallel Processors written by G. Lerman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Study the past, if you would divine the future. -CONFUCIUS A well written, organized, and concise survey is an important tool in any newly emerging field of study. This present text is the first of a new series that has been established to promote the publications of such survey books. A survey serves several needs. Virtually every new research area has its roots in several diverse areas and many of the initial fundamental results are dispersed across a wide range of journals, books, and conferences in many dif ferent sub fields. A good survey should bring together these results. But just a collection of articles is not enough. Since terminology and notation take many years to become standardized, it is often difficult to master the early papers. In addition, when a new research field has its foundations outside of computer science, all the papers may be difficult to read. Each field has its own view of el egance and its own method of presenting results. A good survey overcomes such difficulties by presenting results in a notation and terminology that is familiar to most computer scientists. A good survey can give a feel for the whole field. It helps identify trends, both successful and unsuccessful, and it should point new researchers in the right direction.

Book excerpt: The Fifth International Conference on Computational Science (ICCS 2005) held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, May 22–25, 2005, continued in the tradition of p- vious conferences in the series: ICCS 2004 in Krakow, Poland; ICCS 2003 held simultaneously at two locations, in Melbourne, Australia and St. Petersburg, Russia; ICCS 2002 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands; and ICCS 2001 in San Francisco, California, USA. Computational science is rapidly maturing as a mainstream discipline. It is central to an ever-expanding variety of ?elds in which computational methods and tools enable new discoveries with greater accuracy and speed. ICCS 2005 wasorganizedasaforumforscientistsfromthecoredisciplinesofcomputational science and numerous application areas to discuss and exchange ideas, results, and future directions. ICCS participants included researchers from many app- cation domains, including those interested in advanced computational methods for physics, chemistry, life sciences, engineering, economics and ?nance, arts and humanities, as well as computer system vendors and software developers. The primary objectives of this conference were to discuss problems and solutions in allareas, toidentifynewissues, toshapefuturedirectionsofresearch, andtohelp users apply various advanced computational techniques. The event highlighted recent developments in algorithms, computational kernels, next generation c- puting systems, tools, advanced numerical methods, data-driven systems, and emerging application ?elds, such as complex systems, ?nance, bioinformatics, computational aspects of wireless and mobile networks, graphics, and hybrid computation.
