Book Vapor liquid Equilibrium

Download or read book Vapor liquid Equilibrium written by James C. K. Ho and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis comprises of two parts. The first part is the determination of vapor-liquid equilibrium data at atmospheric pressure and 55°C for the ternary system n-hexane-ethyl alcohol-benzene and for the three possible binary systems n-hexane-ethyl alcohol, n-hexane-benzene and ethyl alcohol-benzene which constituted the ternary system. A modified Gillespie equilibrium still is employed to conduct the investigation. The equilibrium data for the three binary systems and the ternary system appear to be consistent as shown from the thermodynamic consistency tests. The experimental results indicate that two binary systems, namely, n-hexane-ethyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol-benzene form azeotrope at 760 nm. Hg. and 55°C. The ternary system deviates considerably from ideal liquid phase behavior. However, no ternary azeotrope is found from the experiment. The second part presents a method for predicting binary vapor-liquid equilibrium data at various conditions if the equilibrium data for the system concerned are available over the complete concentration range at any one isothermal or isobaric condition. The proposed method is limited to nonazeotropic solutions.

This book was released on 2022-07-09 with total page 1074 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermophysical Properties of Individual Hydrocarbons of Petroleum and Natural Gases: Properties, Methods, and Low-Carbon Technologies is a go-to data source for engineers who need derive property data on everyday components. Providing more precise data improves existing oil and gas processing systems and creates opportunities for more sustainable operations and equipment, such as hydrogen and carbon capture. Covering modern equations of state, this source discusses detailed descriptions of experimental apparatus, methods of measurement, corrections and error estimates as well as results of previous experiments. Generalized predictive methods for calculating viscosity and thermal conductivity are also covered. Rounding out with property databases and lower-carbon technology advances, the book gives today’s engineers a detailed study of methods for more sustainable experimental research of thermophysical properties. Teaches approaches for the measurement and modeling of thermophysical properties for future sustainability growth, including hydrogen and carbon capture Provides exact property data of natural gas and their main components, including saturated properties Gives readers new knowledge in experimental measurement procedures and guidelines for calculating thermophysical properties, along with updates on applications

Book The Thermodynamics of Phase and Reaction Equilibria

Download or read book The Thermodynamics of Phase and Reaction Equilibria written by Ismail Tosun and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2021-06-17 with total page 860 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Thermodynamics of Phase and Reaction Equilibria, Second Edition, provides a sound foundation for understanding abstract concepts of phase and reaction equilibria (e.g., partial molar Gibbs energy, fugacity, and activity), and shows how to apply these concepts to solve practical problems using numerous clear examples. Available computational software has made it possible for students to tackle realistic and challenging problems from industry. The second edition incorporates phase equilibrium problems dealing with nonideal mixtures containing more than two components and chemical reaction equilibrium problems involving multiple reactions. Computations are carried out with the help of Mathcad®. Clear layout, coherent and logical organization of the content, and presentation suitable for self-study Provides analytical equations in dimensionless form for the calculation of changes in internal energy, enthalpy, and entropy as well as departure functions and fugacity coefficients All chapters have been updated primarily through new examples Includes many well-organized problems (with answers), which are extensions of the examples enabling conceptual understanding for quantitative/real problem solving Provides Mathcad worksheets and subroutines Includes a new chapter linking thermodynamics with reaction engineering A complete Instructor’s Solutions Manual is available as a textbook resource

Book Vapor liquid Equilibrium at 75 C for Binary and Ternary Systems Containing Benzene N heptane and N propyl Alcohol

Download or read book Vapor liquid Equilibrium at 75 C for Binary and Ternary Systems Containing Benzene N heptane and N propyl Alcohol written by Sheau Jean Fu and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Binary and ternary vapor-liquid equilibrium data were determined at 75°C for the mixture of benzene, n-heptane and n-propyl alcohol using a modified Gillespie type of still. The equilibrium data for the three binary and the ternary systems are considered to be thermodynamically consistent as shown from the consistency test. Correlating the data with the Redlich-Kister equations for the binary and ternary systems shows that these equations would represent the data accurately over the entire range of compositions. The experimental results indicate that two binary systems, namely, n-heptane-n-propyl alcohol and n-propyl alcohol-benzene form an azeotrope at 75°C. Nevertheless no ternary azeotrope is found from the experiment.

Book Phase Equilibria in Chemical Engineering

Download or read book Phase Equilibria in Chemical Engineering written by Stanley M. Walas and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 689 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phase Equilibria in Chemical Engineering is devoted to the thermodynamic basis and practical aspects of the calculation of equilibrium conditions of multiple phases that are pertinent to chemical engineering processes. Efforts have been made throughout the book to provide guidance to adequate theory and practice. The book begins with a long chapter on equations of state, since it is intimately bound up with the development of thermodynamics. Following material on basic thermodynamics and nonidealities in terms of fugacities and activities, individual chapters are devoted to equilibria primarily between pairs of phases. A few topics that do not fit into these categories and for which the state of the art is not yet developed quantitatively have been relegated to a separate chapter. The chapter on chemical equilibria is pertinent since many processes involve simultaneous chemical and phase equilibria. Also included are chapters on the evaluation of enthalpy and entropy changes of nonideal substances and mixtures, and on experimental methods. This book is intended as a reference and self-study as well as a textbook either for full courses in phase equilibria or as a supplement to related courses in the chemical engineering curriculum. Practicing engineers concerned with separation technology and process design also may find the book useful.
