Book Validation of Digital Systems in Avionics and Flight Control Applications Handbook

Download or read book Validation of Digital Systems in Avionics and Flight Control Applications Handbook written by Ellis F. Hitt and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this handbook is to identify techniques, methodologies, tools, and procedures in a systems context that may be applicable to aspects of the validation and certification of digital systems at specific times in the development, and implementation of software based digital systems to be used in flight control/avionics applications. The application of these techniques in the development of discrete units and/or systems will result in completion of a product or system which is verfiable and can be validated in the context of the existing regulations/orders of the government regulatory agencies. The handbook uses a systems engineering approach to the implementation and testing of software and hardware during the design, development, and implementation phases. The handbook also recognizes and provides for the evaluation of the pilot's workload in the utilization of the new control/display technology, especially when crew recognition and intervention may be necessary to cope with/recover from the effects of faults or failures in the digital systems or the crew introduces errors into the system under periods of high workload due to some inadvertent procedure or entry of incorrect or erroneous data.

Book Digital Avionics Handbook

Download or read book Digital Avionics Handbook written by Cary R. Spitzer and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-12-20 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Avionics provide crews and passengers with an array of capabilities. Cockpit crews can operate with fewer pilots, greater efficiency, and immediate critical information. Passengers can enjoy the ultimate in inflight entertainment: live television and audio broadcasts and access to the Internet and e-mail. Since avionics are the among most ex

Book Avionics

Download or read book Avionics written by Cary R. Spitzer and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Renamed to reflect the increased role of digital electronics in modern flight control systems, Cary Spitzer's industry-standard Digital Avionics Handbook, Second Edition is available in two comprehensive volumes designed to provide focused coverage for specialists working in different areas of avionics development. The second installment, Avionics: Development and Implementation explores the practical side of avionics. The book examines such topics as modeling and simulation, electronic hardware reliability, certification, fault tolerance, and several examples of real-world applications. New chapters discuss RTCA DO-297/EUROCAE ED-124 integrated modular avionics development and the Genesis platform.

Book Digital Systems Validation Handbook

Download or read book Digital Systems Validation Handbook written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 994 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emphasis in this Volume is on the certification of advanced technology digital avionic systems, as well as their validation. This document covers detailed technical topics such as latent faults; digital data busses for aviation applications; integrated assurance assessment; analytical sensor redundancy; and protection against lightning; electromagnetic interference, and high energy radio frequency fields. These topics are covered in detail to familiarize the certification engineer with the issues involved in implementing the new technologies. Covered are topics that will enable the certification engineer to understand the information presented in type certification and supplemental type certification documentation, to understand variations in the implementation of technologies, and to discuss them with the design engineer. Also addresses are some of the soon-to-be-available technologies in the Advanced Validation Issues chapter. The direction of aviation research in the United States is discussed along with challenges and problems that confront the certification engineer in certifying the new technologies. Keywords: Digital flight control systems; Fault tolerant software; Electrical transients in aircraft; Electromechanical aviator systems.

Book Digital Systems Validation Chapter 20 Artificial Intelligence with Applications for Aircraft Handbook

Download or read book Digital Systems Validation Chapter 20 Artificial Intelligence with Applications for Aircraft Handbook written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This chapter provides an overview of Artificial Intelligence (Al) technology, one of the more complex applications of digital systems. This chapter examines A1-based technology, focusing on three fields: neural networks, fuzzy' logic, and Expert Systems. This chapter provides the reader with the background and a basic understanding of the fundamental at those fields. Another section examines aspects of the Al development environment, including languages, tools, and AI-based hardware components. Some of the proposed aviation-related applications for both civil and military aircraft, including pilot assistants and diagnostic aids, are surveyed. Additionally, certification issues, including regulations, guidelines, and verification and validation techniques are examined. Human factors issues relating to the use of this technology are identified and reviewed. In addition, this chapter identifies safety issues and concerns over the use of this technology in airborne systems.
