Book Introduction to Imaging from Scattered Fields

Download or read book Introduction to Imaging from Scattered Fields written by Michael A Fiddy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-11-10 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Obtain the Best Estimate of a Strongly Scattering Object from Limited Scattered Field Data Introduction to Imaging from Scattered Fields presents an overview of the challenging problem of determining information about an object from measurements of the field scattered from that object. It covers widely used approaches to recover information about the objects and examines the assumptions made a priori about the object and the consequences of recovering object information from limited numbers of noisy measurements of the scattered fields. The book explores the strengths and weaknesses of using inverse methods for weak scattering. These methods, including Fourier-based signal and image processing techniques, allow more straightforward inverse algorithms to be exploited based on a simple mapping of scattered field data. The authors also discuss their recent approach based on a nonlinear filtering step in the inverse algorithm. They illustrate how to use this algorithm through numerous two-dimensional electromagnetic scattering examples. MATLAB® code is provided to help readers quickly apply the approach to a wide variety of inverse scattering problems. In later chapters of the book, the authors focus on important and often forgotten overarching constraints associated with exploiting inverse scattering algorithms. They explain how the number of degrees of freedom associated with any given scattering experiment can be found and how this allows one to specify a minimum number of data that should be measured. They also describe how the prior discrete Fourier transform (PDFT) algorithm helps in estimating the properties of an object from scattered field measurements. The PDFT restores stability and improves estimates of the object even with severely limited data (provided it is sufficient to meet a criterion based on the number of degrees of freedom). Suitable for graduate students and researchers working on medical, geophysical, defense, and industrial inspection inverse problems, this self-contained book provides the necessary details for readers to design improved experiments and process measured data more effectively. It shows how to obtain the best estimate of a strongly scattering object from limited scattered field data.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nerves and Nerve Injuries is the first comprehensive work devoted to the nerves of the body. An indispensable work for anyone studying the nerves or treating patients with nerve injuries, these books will become the 'go to' resource in the field. The nerves are treated in a systematic manner, discussing details such as their anatomy (both macro- and microscopic), physiology, examination (physical and imaging), pathology, and clinical and surgical interventions. The authors contributing their expertise are international experts on the subject. The books cover topics from detailed nerve anatomy and embryology to cutting-edge knowledge related to treatment, disease and mathematical modeling of the nerves. Nerves and Nerve Injuries Volume 1 focuses on the history of nerves, embryology, anatomy, imaging, and diagnostics. This volume provides a greatly detailed overview of the anatomy of the peripheral and cranial nerves as well as comprehensive details of imaging modalities and diagnostic tests. - Detailed anatomy of the peripheral and cranial nerves including their history and ultrastructure - Comprehensive details of the imaging modalities and diagnostic tests used for viewing and investigating the nerves - Authored by leaders in the field around the globe – the broadest, most expert coverage available

Book Humanitarianism and Democracy Maanava Dharmah Prajaaprabhutvam Cheti Shatakadvayam

Download or read book Humanitarianism and Democracy Maanava Dharmah Prajaaprabhutvam Cheti Shatakadvayam written by M V Nadkarni and published by Manipal Universal Press. This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a compilation of M?navadharma- ?atakam and Praj?prabhutva-?atakam composed by Prof Nadkarni. While there have been many books on humanism and democracy in other languages, these ?atakams with original verses in Sanskrit attempt to start a new genre in Sanskrit literature. Inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s exemplary ideas, the first ?atakam revolves around the topic of ‘Humanitarianism’. Humanitarianism is considered as the religion of being human, which involves the welfare of human race and of nature, and it’s not just about being philanthropic, but being kind and considerate to all human beings and living up to the ideal of being humane. M?nava-dharma accepts the moral responsibility of all human beings as well as the basic rights of all, irrespective of gender, colour, religion, race, or nationality, and hierarchy of any kind. The scope of Humanitarianism is extended beyond the mere concept of human rights and posits that being aware of one’s duties is integral to being human. Further, in this book, the notion of Democracy is presented as an institutional framework in which Humanitarianism can be best practised. Praj?prabhutva-?atakam brings out the implications of democracy and our responsibilities therein. It emphasizes the relation between freedom and our responsibility as citizens to remain attentive towards the affairs of state and institutions. Prof Nadkarni presents a series of arguments to establish how democracy reconciles equality with freedom. The two ?atakams provide a strong philosophical base for understanding politics, for citizens of democracy, especially meant for young students.
