Ce guide d'onde a la particularité d'émettre un signal a la somme des fréquences de deux signaux se propageant en contre-propagation guidée dans celui-ci. En outre, le signal à la somme des fréquences sera émis avec un angle proportionel à la différence des fréquences des deux signaux fondamentaux. Dans ce document, nous développons un modèle théorique permettant d'évaluer l'efficacité de production du signal à la somme des fréquences issu de l'interaction de signaux à des longueurs d'onde différentes. Nous traitons le guide d'onde comme une entité bidimensionnelle en incluant dans notre modèle les effets longitudinaux survenant a cause des réflectivités des facettes du guide d'onde. Enfin, nous y étudions l'effet des variations de longueur d'onde des signaux fondamentaux sur la distribution de la puissance à la somme des fréquences à la surface du guide. Une attention toute particulière est portée sur les conséquences des phénomènes étudiés sur la mesure de l'angle d'émission du signal à la somme des fréquences.

The first of the book's four parts introduces the basic mathematical apparatus: second quantization, canonical transformations, Wick theorems and the resulting diagram expansions, and oscillator models. The second part presents mean field approximations and the recently developed path integral methods for the quantization of collective modes. Part three develops perturbation theory in terms of both time-dependent Feynman diagrams and time-independent Goldstone diagrams. A fourth part discusses variational methods based on correlated wavefunctions, including spin correlations. The approximation schemes are formulated for fermions and bosons at eigher zero or non-zero temperature. A feasible descent algorithm for linearly constrained least squares problems is described.
