Book Flexible 3 Dimensional Hybrid ZnO Nanowire a Si H Thin Film Solar Cells

Download or read book Flexible 3 Dimensional Hybrid ZnO Nanowire a Si H Thin Film Solar Cells written by Minoli Pathirane and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ZnO nanowires were conformally coated with hydrogenated amorphous Si (a-Si:H) p-i-n thin-film to form three-dimensional (3-D) radial-junction (RJ) nanowire solar cell arrays (NWSCs). These NWSCs are a promising architecture for photovoltaic devices due to their enhanced light absorption and carrier extraction capabilities. However, conformally coating thin-films and the top electrode over ZnO nanowires become difficult with decreased periods by using conventional methods. In this thesis, conformal coatings were achieved by increasing the average spacing between NWSCs while effectively moving the NWSCs physically towards each other via substrate-bending to change the spacing between the NWSCs.

Book Nanocrystalline Zinc Oxide Thin Films for Solar Cell

Download or read book Nanocrystalline Zinc Oxide Thin Films for Solar Cell written by Akbar I. Inamdar and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2010-12 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zinc oxide has attracted considerable attention due to its good optical, electrical, and piezoelectric properties and its potential applications in diverse areas. The novel functions of ZnO nanostructures arrays have been revealed successfully in the solar cells, gas sensors, piezoelectric, photodetectcors, LED, field emitters and so on. Films with well-aligned ZnO nanorods or nanowires may exhibit much larger surface areas than ZnO films prepared from randomly oriented nanoparticles. A plethora of physical and chemical methods have been used for the synthesis of ZnO nanostructures including physical and chemical techniques. Electrodeposition is of particular interest due to low cost, environmental friendly, and feasibility of room temperature growth. The central idea of this work is to test the applicability of simple and inexpensive electrodeposition technique as an update on previously studied methods for the synthesis of nanocrystalline ZnO thin films for solar cell. In this direction the attempts were made to fabricate zinc oxide nanocrystalline thin films by varying various process parameters and by using novel approaches, as well.

Book Physics and Technology of Amorphous Crystalline Heterostructure Silicon Solar Cells

Download or read book Physics and Technology of Amorphous Crystalline Heterostructure Silicon Solar Cells written by Wilfried G. J. H. M. van Sark and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-11-16 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today’s solar cell multi-GW market is dominated by crystalline silicon (c-Si) wafer technology, however new cell concepts are entering the market. One very promising solar cell design to answer these needs is the silicon hetero-junction solar cell, of which the emitter and back surface field are basically produced by a low temperature growth of ultra-thin layers of amorphous silicon. In this design, amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) constitutes both „emitter“ and „base-contact/back surface field“ on both sides of a thin crystalline silicon wafer-base (c-Si) where the electrons and holes are photogenerated; at the same time, a-Si:H passivates the c-Si surface. Recently, cell efficiencies above 23% have been demonstrated for such solar cells. In this book, the editors present an overview of the state-of-the-art in physics and technology of amorphous-crystalline heterostructure silicon solar cells. The heterojunction concept is introduced, processes and resulting properties of the materials used in the cell and their heterointerfaces are discussed and characterization techniques and simulation tools are presented.

Book Impact of Solid phase Crystallization of Amorphous Silicon on the Chemical Structure of the Buried Si ZnO Thin Film Solar Cell Interface

Download or read book Impact of Solid phase Crystallization of Amorphous Silicon on the Chemical Structure of the Buried Si ZnO Thin Film Solar Cell Interface written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The chemical interface structure between phosphorus-doped hydrogenated amorphous silicon and aluminum-doped zinc oxide thin films is investigated with soft x-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) before and after solid-phase crystallization (SPC) at 600C. In addition to the expected SPC-induced phase transition from amorphous to polycrystalline silicon, our XES data indicates a pronounced chemical interaction at the buried Si/ZnO interface. In particular, we find an SPC-enhanced formation of Si-O bonds and the accumulation of Zn in close proximity to the interface. For an assumed closed and homogeneous SiO2 interlayer, an effective thickness of (5+2)nm after SPC could be estimated.

Book Zinc Oxide Thin Films for Dye sensitized Solar Cell Applications

Download or read book Zinc Oxide Thin Films for Dye sensitized Solar Cell Applications written by Rong Zhang and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis presents selected methodologies developed in our laboratory for growing ZnO thin films by chemical bath deposition (CBD), as well as ZnO films applications for dye-sensitized solar cells. The following three broad topics are addressed in this manuscript. The first topic is an easy method to systematically control ZnO crystal size and shape thin film. With the increase of Rm, the molar ratio of Cd2+/Zn2+, ZnO crystals transformed from long-and-slim hexagonal rods to fat-and-short hexagonal pyramids, and then to twinning hexagonal dots as observed by SEM. The second topic presents a solution based approach to grow high density vertically-aligned ZnO rod arrays with multi-stage terrace structure (HDVAMT) and their enhanced DSSC efficiency. The third topic is the studies of RuN3 dye adsorption onto nanostructured ZnO films. The results reveal that more dye is adsorbed onto ZnO films and less dye aggregation occurs at 40oC than those at 25oC.
