Book Products of Random Variables

Download or read book Products of Random Variables written by Janos Galambos and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2004-07-20 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Products of Random Variables explores the theory of products of random variables through from distributions and limit theorems, to characterizations, to applications in physics, order statistics, and number theory. It uses entirely probabilistic arguments in actualizing the potential of the asymptotic theory of products of independent random variab

Book Ordered Random Variables Theory and Applications

Download or read book Ordered Random Variables Theory and Applications written by Muhammad Qaiser Shahbaz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-29 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ordered Random Variables have attracted several authors. The basic building block of Ordered Random Variables is Order Statistics which has several applications in extreme value theory and ordered estimation. The general model for ordered random variables, known as Generalized Order Statistics has been introduced relatively recently by Kamps (1995).

Book Probability The Science of Uncertainty

Download or read book Probability The Science of Uncertainty written by Michael A. Bean and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2009 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Covers the basic probability of distributions with an emphasis on applications from the areas of investments, insurance, and engineering. This book is suitable as a text for senior undergraduate and beginning graduate students in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, finance, or engineering.

Book Probability Distributions Used in Reliability Engineering

Download or read book Probability Distributions Used in Reliability Engineering written by Andrew N O'Connor and published by RIAC. This book was released on 2011 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book provides details on 22 probability distributions. Each distribution section provides a graphical visualization and formulas for distribution parameters, along with distribution formulas. Common statistics such as moments and percentile formulas are followed by likelihood functions and in many cases the derivation of maximum likelihood estimates. Bayesian non-informative and conjugate priors are provided followed by a discussion on the distribution characteristics and applications in reliability engineering.

Book Normal and Student s t Distributions and Their Applications

Download or read book Normal and Student s t Distributions and Their Applications written by Mohammad Ahsanullah and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-02-07 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most important properties of normal and Student t-distributions are presented. A number of applications of these properties are demonstrated. New related results dealing with the distributions of the sum, product and ratio of the independent normal and Student distributions are presented. The materials will be useful to the advanced undergraduate and graduate students and practitioners in the various fields of science and engineering.

Book Products and Quotients of Random Variables and Their Applications

Download or read book Products and Quotients of Random Variables and Their Applications written by James D. Donahue and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this report, the general techniques for determining the distributions of products and quotients of random variables are discussed. Some exact and asymptotic results pertaining to the distributions of the products and quotients of certain random variables which generally occur as measurement error are also presented together with their applications. An extensive bibliography is included at the end of the report.

Book On the Distribution of Products of Independent Beta Variables

Download or read book On the Distribution of Products of Independent Beta Variables written by Z. A. Lomnicki and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of finding the probability distribution of a product of a number of identically distributed, independent random variables had been solved by an application of the Mellin transform for normal and Cauchy distributions (Springer and Thompson) and for exponential, Gamma and Weibull distributions (Lomnicki). The present paper shows that it can be solved by similar methods for Beta distributions. This is of practical importance, since most physical quantities with which an engineer is dealing have finite ranges, while all the distributions previously studied had infinite ranges. (Author).

Book Distribution of Products and Quotients of Dependent Random Variables

Download or read book Distribution of Products and Quotients of Dependent Random Variables written by Roger Trudel and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt:

Book On Products and Quotients of Random Variables

Download or read book On Products and Quotients of Random Variables written by Robert S. DeZur and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report, prepared in two parts, deals with products and quotients of random variables. In Part I, the distributions of quotients of independent random variables are considered. In Part II, the distribution of the product of two (not necessarily independent) normally distributed random variates is investigated. The tables of this distribution are given in the Appendix. (Author).

Book Distribution of Product and Quotient of Bessel Function Variates

Download or read book Distribution of Product and Quotient of Bessel Function Variates written by Samuel Kotz and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The technique of Mellin transforms is used to obtain the distributions of the product and quotient of two independent Bessel function random variables. Two different types of Bessel function variates are considered. Applications of the results are given for the following special cases: chi-squared distributions, non-central chi-squared distributions, randomized gamma distributions, and folded Gaussian distributions. (Author).

Book On the Distribution of a Product of Two Random Variables

Download or read book On the Distribution of a Product of Two Random Variables written by and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Let W=UV where U and V are independent random variables. It is shown that if V is distributed according to the non-central Chi-square distribution, then W is distributed according to the Chi-square distribution if and only if U=1 with probability 1. If V is normally distributed, it is shown that W is normally distributed if and only if the distribution of U is a two-point distribution.
