Book Denial and Deprivation

Download or read book Denial and Deprivation written by Abdur Rahman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-02-18 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volume attempts to gauge and analyse the level of denial and deprivation faced by Indian Muslims by evaluating their status after a gap of several years of Sachar Committee (2006) and Rangnath Mishra Commission (2007) Reports. It presents and discusses the current conditions with respect to outcome indicators such as population, education, economy, poverty, unemployment, consumption level, availability of bank loans, infrastructure and civic facilities and representation in government employment. By placing facts in perspective, it also discusses community-specific issues such as use of Urdu, madrasa education and Waqf. In the post-Sachar era, governments started many schemes to improve the condition of Muslims whose reach and impact is assessed with the help of latest data. It presents the social structure of Muslims, presence of OBCs and Dalits and suggests a practical pattern for reservation. It follows up the process of implementation of recommendations of these reports and highlights how the governments adopted tokenism, attempted to implement minor recommendations and shied away from major ones. The volume highlights the lopsided attitude of the previous UPA governments, hostile attitude of the present NDA regime and accelerated marginalization of Muslims in today’s scenario due to open discrimination, mob-violence, lynching and hate crimes in the name of various communal issues. Please note: Taylor & Francis does not sell or distribute the Hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Urdu Teacher Acquiring a knowledge of a foreign language is beyond doubt a long and arduous study, but to the intelligent, observant student it ought to be at least one of the most interesting, for it cannot be denied that knowledge of any one lan guage means an intimate knowledge of the people speaking that language. Are there any more interesting peoples than your Aryan brethren of to-day, scions of that great and common ancestor who tn the dim unrecorded long ago strode as conquering hero where you now stand, as the, representatives of the greatest sovereign that ever held away over India What a vista is opened up when we think of what has happened between then and now You can take it that every Englishman speaking the Vernacular, forcibly reminds the Native of India of thatcommon origin, helps him to welcome as a blessing the return of the Elder Brother after his long sojourn in the West, and more than anything I know of, serves to foster respect on both sides. With all its faults, I hope my little work tl assist you in obtatutng a knowledge of this great Vernacular. Book Empowering Students Through Multilingual and Content Discourse

Download or read book Empowering Students Through Multilingual and Content Discourse written by Finley, Stacie Lynn and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-07-25 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Empowering Students Through Multilingual and Content Discourse is a peer-reviewed research book that challenges the traditional monolingual classroom approach, where the teacher's voice dominates and only the dominant culture's language is considered the path to success. The book aims to empower students by creating classroom spaces where all voices are heard, valued, and empowered. It draws on research from scholars who study discourse and offers insights into how discourse can be used to promote language and literacy development, honor all students' voices, and empower them. This book also provides guidance on culturally and linguistically sustaining discourse practices and encourages educators to incorporate students' home languages and discourse practices in classroom instruction. It challenges educators to move away from centering White English and represent language more responsibly within the classroom. This research is a valuable resource for academic scholars and a useful tool for teachers looking to cultivate student-centered classroom practices. By encouraging discourse among students, educators can create a space where human life holds meaning, and students feel empowered to act and use their voices.

Book Fourteen Pomegranate Seeds

Download or read book Fourteen Pomegranate Seeds written by Khaja Nizamuddin and published by Blue Rose Publishers. This book was released on 2023-11-18 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To start with Hazrath Banda Nawaz’s 'Tasavvuf Aur Sulook,' recreations and instructions are common to all Deccan writers. The love poems of the king, Mohammed Quliqutb Shah, are excellent examples of the versatility of Deccan literature. “Fourteen pomegranate seeds” comprises the translation of the short stories of the Deccan writers starting from the 19th century. While translating the stories, an attempt has been made to separate wheat and chaff. Rashidul Khairi teaches the intentions of religious teachings. Iwaz Sayeed deals with the grave situation of abandoned parents, and Wajida Tabassum speaks about the atrocities against women. Jeelani Bano speaks about the hard times for those below the poverty line. The Qamar Jamali character stands for human thirst and his inability to quench it.In the introduction to this book, the writer's personal experiences have been added. They never meant to get the goat of the people by hurting or criticizing them, but to express anguish over the interested but indifferent behavior of Urdu-loving people. Every care has been taken to provide the reader with the intentions of the writers.

Book Muslim Politics in Bihar

Download or read book Muslim Politics in Bihar written by Mohammad Sajjad and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-08-13 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book studies the engagement of various Muslim communities with Bihar politics from colonial times to present-day India. It debunks several myths in highlighting Muslim resistance to the Two-Nation theory, and counters the ‘Isolation Syndrome’ faced by Muslim communities after Independence. Using rare archival sources and hitherto unexamined Urdu texts, this book offers a nuanced exploration of complex themes such as the struggle against Bengali hegemony, communalism, regionalism and alienation before Independence, recent language politics, the political assertion of low-caste Muslims in current Bihar, as well as their quest for social and gender justice. An important contribution to the study of South Asian Islam, this book will interest students and scholars of modern Indian history, politics, sociology, religion, gender, and minority studies.
