External influences on Morocco tend to come across the narrow straits of Gibraltar to the north, from the east along the Mediterranean litoral, or up from the Sahara. In each case, access is constrained by geography and continued control from outside the region has been difficult to manage over the long term. Although many of the dynasties that came to power in Morocco conquered much broader regions, history and topology have so conspired that there is still more coherence to an historical focus on al-maghrib al-aqsa than is the case for most modern nation-states. This third edition of Historical Dictionary of Morocco contains a chronology, an introduction, a glossary, and an extensive bibliography. Mais les effets de l'urbanisation sur l'environnement ne se limitent pas à l'envaïssement d'espaces utiles et fragiles, ils touchent également d'autres éléments naturels (l'eau, l'air) et engendrent d'autres nuisances (déchets et bruits), situation qui doit inciter tous les acteurs à mettre en place une stratégie qui concilie les objectifs de développement et les impératifs de la protection de l'environnement. En effet le recours à une évaluation doit se faire pour accumuler le savoir et le surplus scientifique pouvant contribuer à l'amélioration de l'environnement urbain décisionnel. Devant l'accroissement rapide de l'urbanisation, l'inadaptation des procédures administratives et aux exigences de l'évolution rapide des projets urbains, l'Etat a été, et demeure, dans l'obligation de céder la fonction de maîtrise d'ouvrages urbains aux collectivités locales et à la population en intégrant les associations dans le financement et l'exécution de ces projets.
