Book Urban Hydrology for Small Watersheds Vol 55

Download or read book Urban Hydrology for Small Watersheds Vol 55 written by United States Department Of Agriculture and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-09-17 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Urban Hydrology for Small Watersheds, Vol. 55: Technical Release; January 1975 Lincoln, Nebr., Portland, Oreg., and Fort Worth, Tex., and from state hydrologists and engineers. This technical release is presented as a guide for field personnel in estimating the effects of land use changes and structural measures on hydraulic and hydrologic parameters, runoff volume, and peak rates of discharge. Field engineers should recognize that some of the proposed methods are in the formative stage and thus have not been fully tested. The results should be compared with other available methods, and engi neering judgment should be used in arriving at a final estimate. Careful consideration should be given to the scope and importance of the job when deciding on a particular procedure. It is not intended that all procedures fit all situations that arise. Book Investigation of Soil Conservation Service Urban Hydrology Techniques

Download or read book Investigation of Soil Conservation Service Urban Hydrology Techniques written by Duke G. Altman and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The application of the Soil Conservation Services (SCS) urban hydrology techniques is made to four watersheds. The parameters of the methods are obtained from standard SCS guidance and from calibration of watershed model HEC-1 using the SCS method. A modified method of determining these parameters is also recommended to SCS. Runoff parameters are then used with design storms to illustrate the differences in frequency curves which may result. Book Urban Hydrology Hydraulics and Stormwater Quality

Download or read book Urban Hydrology Hydraulics and Stormwater Quality written by A. Osman Akan and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2003-08-22 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A practical introduction on today's challenge of controlling and managing the water resources used by and affected by cities and urbanized communities. The book offers an integrated engineering approach, covering the spectrum of urban watershed management, urban hydraulic systems, and overall stormwater management. Each chapter concludes with helpful problems. Solutions Manual available to qualified professors and instructors upon request. Introduces the reader to two popular, non-proprietary computer-modeling pro-grams: HEC-HMS (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) and SWMM (U.S EPA).

Book Urban Hydrology

Download or read book Urban Hydrology written by Roger Betson and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of the project was to study urban watersheds as a complex system. The approach was to use mathematical models that could adjust for the major causes of variation in the system. The models used had been developed earlier using hydrologic data obtained from rural watersheds. These models were designed to be used in planning and regionalized so that model parameters can be predicted based upon site characteristics and thus the models applied at ungaged sites. A goal of this project was to extend the capabilities of these hydrologic models to include the effects of urbanization and to include water quality as a component.

Book Soil Conservation Service Curve Number SCS CN Methodology

Download or read book Soil Conservation Service Curve Number SCS CN Methodology written by S.K. Mishra and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 535 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Soil Conservation Service (SCS) curve number (CN) method is one of the most popular methods for computing the runoff volume from a rainstorm. It is popular because it is simple, easy to understand and apply, and stable, and accounts for most of the runoff producing watershed characteristics, such as soil type, land use, hydrologic condition, and antecedent moisture condition. The SCS-CN method was originally developed for its use on small agricultural watersheds and has since been extended and applied to rural, forest and urban watersheds. Since the inception of the method, it has been applied to a wide range of environments. In recent years, the method has received much attention in the hydrologic literature. The SCS-CN method was first published in 1956 in Section-4 of the National Engineering Handbook of Soil Conservation Service (now called the Natural Resources Conservation Service), U. S. Department of Agriculture. The publication has since been revised several times. However, the contents of the methodology have been nonetheless more or less the same. Being an agency methodology, the method has not passed through the process of a peer review and is, in general, accepted in the form it exists. Despite several limitations of the method and even questionable credibility at times, it has been in continuous use for the simple reason that it works fairly well at the field level.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a systematic approach to understanding and applying the principles of hydrology and hydroclimatology, examining the interactions among different components of the water cycle. It takes a fresh look at the fundamentals and challenges in hydrologic and hydroclimatic systems as well as climate change. The author describes the application of nontraditional data sets and new investigation techniques to water-related problems. He also examines long lead forecasting and simulation, time series analysis, and risk and uncertainty in hydrologic design.
