Book Update of X Ray and Gamma Ray Decay Data Standards for Detector Calibration and Other Applications

Download or read book Update of X Ray and Gamma Ray Decay Data Standards for Detector Calibration and Other Applications written by IAEA. and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various groups around the world are engaged in the compilation and evaluation of decay data for all known and specific radionuclides. Many evaluators operate independently and recommend slightly different values for the same parameter. Even small deviations in the recommended data can have a significant impact on definition of the decay characteristics of radionuclides used as standards in detector efficiency calibrations and subsequent applications. This report presents the results of a Coordinated Research Project on X ray and gamma ray decay data standards for detector calibration and other.

Book Update of X Ray and Gamma Ray Decay Data Standards for Detector Calibration and Other Applications Introduction

This book was released on 2007 with total page 172 pages. This report presents the results of a Coordinated Research Project on X ray and gamma ray decay data standards for detector calibration and other applications. Recommended half-lives and X and gamma ray emission probabilities are listed in the first part of this report for a carefully selected set of radionuclides and nuclear reactions that are suitable for detector efficiency calibration and other applications. The evaluation procedures used to obtain the recommended values and their uncertainties are detailed in the second part, along with comments on the remaining discrepancies. An appropriate set of suitable X and gamma ray standards have been derived with the expectation that the recommended values will be recognized as international reference standards.--Publisher's description.

Book Data Evaluation for 56Co Epsilon Beta Decay

Download or read book Data Evaluation for 56Co Epsilon Beta Decay written by T. Desmond MacMahon and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recommended values for nuclear and atomic data pertaining to the {var_epsilon} + {beta}{sup +} decay of {sup 56}Co are provided here, followed by comments on evaluation procedures and a summary of all available experimental data. {sup 56}Co is a radionuclide which is potentially very useful for Ge detector efficiency calibration because it is readily produced via the {sup 56}Fe(p, n) reaction, its half-life of 77.24 days is conveniently long, and it provides a number of relatively strong {gamma} rays with energies up to {approx}3500 keV. The transition intensities recommended here for the strongest lines will be included in the forthcoming International Atomic Energy Agency Coordinated Research Programme document ''Update of X- and Gamma-ray Decay Data Standards for Detector Calibration and Other Applications'', and the analysis for all transitions along with relevant atomic data have been provided to the Decay Data Evaluation Project.
